Curly crème is the absolute best!! The lines are long for a reason.. something about that delayed gratification in the summer makes it memorable I'd have to say after having moved out of the area. If you go mid day on weekday, the lines are not that long but on a hot summer night, they are busy, hustling and bustling. I do not think the staff can really "move any faster", I don't ever see them wasting time. Just bring some bug spray and practice acceptance. After your legs hurt from standing for 30 mins and you burn some extra pre calories, you can take solace under one of the gazebos or picnic benches. Now onto the ice cream-- creamy and flavorful, unlike other soft serve options that lose flavor or taste watered down. They always offer 3 different twist or plain flavor options each week as well as a full menu of sundaes, waffles, flurries, and many more. Peanut butter is my favorite flavor and I'm glad I was in town the week they had it. I also wanted to try the new addition to the menu, waffle cone chips with vanilla ice cream and caramel dipping sauce but I didn't make it back around. So my review from 2009 disappeared! In that review I had said this was the best custard ever. So fast forward to August 2024. We were in PA and realized Curly Creme was within 30 miles away. So we drove the extra 30 miles. And guess what? The vanilla custard was the same, thick, creamy delicious ice cream I had so many years ago. The chocolate was good too. Though I prefer the vanilla. Our medium cones were huge. The prices for 3 came to $9.00! How? Back at home, Carvel would come to $27! Thank you, Curley Cream. Not only have you kept your quality the same over all these years.. This little roadside ice cream stand is a must-stop on any of my trips to NEPA during the summer. It's open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and the lines extending from the windows to the street during the busiest summer evenings speak for themselves. Just remember that it is cash only!! Curly Creme specializes in soft serve, and they have perfected the creamy texture and have some of the best soft serve in the area. The flavors include traditional vanilla and chocolate, a rotating berry option (strawberry or black raspberry), and a flavor of the week that rotates throughout the summer. They'll post a list of flavors each year, so you can mark your calendars to catch your favorites. We're partial to the peanut butter and the banana, and we'll often save a cup of the peanut butter in our freezer until banana week so we can eat them together. In addition to the traditional cones, they offer an extensive list of sundaes and flurries. We also enjoy their "Holy Cow" giant ice cream sandwiches. The prices are affordable and the portions are huge. The large cones are literally the biggest ice cream cones I have ever seen, and the sundaes are gigantic and loaded up with toppings. I must be spoiled by the soft serve ice cream in Philly. I got coffee flavored soft serve and it come out white. I confirmed it was coffee flavor. I'd say it tasted like a bad vanilla. Threw it away. Staff was very nice and serving size was generous. read more
