I had an exceptional experience with Dr. Mark Johnson and his staff for my recent cataract surgery…read more At 72 years old with a very delicate eye condition, I was extremely nervous but Dr. Johnson put me at ease. Not only did I have a very mature cataract, but I was also extremely myopic with a -25.5 prescription - the highest on record at his office. This elongated eyeball made measuring for the precise intraocular lens (IOL) challenging. The measurements showed I needed a special 3-piece lens rather than the standard one-piece. Additionally, a previous eye surgery had replaced my vitreous with liquid, which raised concerns about whether it could adequately hold the new lens capsule in place. Despite the difficulties, Dr. Johnson promised improved vision but was upfront that he couldn't guarantee perfection. I appreciated his honesty. On surgery day at the Sarasota surgery center, the nurses were incredibly kind and attentive. They made sure I was warm and comfortable throughout by frequently providing heated blankets tucked around me at my request. After the surgery, I was overjoyed to be able to see clearly without glasses or contacts for the first time since getting my first -4.50 prescription at age 9! Dr. Johnson even called later to check on me. I am utterly thrilled with the results. Dr. Johnson's skills and his perfect lens selection have given me a new lease on life being able to see with my own eyes at my age despite my eye's complexities. I'm so grateful! Highest recommendation for Dr. Johnson - simply the best!

Three years ago, Dr. Fezza did a face lift for about $25K for me. It has been daily pain and lack…read moreof healing since then. His staff treats you well while you are deciding/paying (and all $ is collected in advance). They say, "he is your surgeon for life" and that all aftercare is included. Well it is NOT. If you have pain, problems post-surgery (a few months after) they tell you (me), all we can offer is to inject botox at $600 per treatment. The work looks pretty good (there were 2 small flaws that he declined to fix telling me eventually it will all go away) (yes it will when I die!)... But in hindsight, I'd say he pulled the skin too tight, cut deeply into nerves that never regenerated. After the fact, people told me, there is a difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon... well, I didn't do enough research in advance, and pain is now part of my life pretty much 100% of the time. Thanks Doc and staff.

He properly sets expectations and explains procedures and after care. With my second experience Dr Fezza was a real sight saver. While vacationing, I crashed my bike and fractured my eye socket. ER stitched me up and told me to see a surgeon right away to keep my eye from sinking into my sinus. No doctor would see me because I had no insurance at the time. Even though I was 600 miles away I called him and he told me he would do the best for me that he could and work out the cost. I was scheduled right away and the surgery was a great success. I got the needed follow up visits. He is an exceptional plastic surgeon and ophthalmologist with a sincere and caring manner.

I have VSP for me and my husband (who is also on Medicare but no vision insurance. This becomes relevant later on.) My exam was fine, dr was nice and they told me I had the start of a cataract that just needed to be monitored. I pay for the $39 retina scan not covered by insurance that I agreed to. Fast forward to this week and my husband (who has Medicare Part G and is on MY vision insurance) has his exam with the $39 retina scan. He and the dr talked about his dry eyes (that he DOES NOT take any meds for other than OTC stuff). She said she could write a prescription if he wanted her to and he declined. She said he had the start of a cataract and that it needed to be monitored (sound familiar?). Said "he did not need a lens prescription, just use readers". Same exam, same diagnosis as mine. His vision is better than mine as a matter of fact. He gets to the front desk, and they charge him the $39 and then proceeds to tell him he owes $220 because the exam became MEDICAL?!?! Where did it become medical on his when mine wasn't? He argued but finally just gave his debit card to pay (#1 mistake. I would have walked out and said bill me!). They KNEW he had the G plan, so they will be committing Medicare fraud by billing them AND receiving pay from us. I will be filing a complaint on that. Julie didn't bother to return my call, so I had to call them again just to listen to her lie to me again. "He has SEVERE dry eye syndrome (no he doesn't, he rarely uses eye drops anymore), he had a "freckle" in his eye (so what?), he has a cataract that impedes his vision (no he doesn't and if he did why did the dr say he didn't need a prescription or refer him to an ophthalmologist?) They are unscrupulous and I would not do business with them ever again. I will be posting to all social media sites as well and will contact the BBB along with Medicare. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND DO NOT USE THEM!
