I usually go to the Oxnard office and see Jesse, PA and sometimes Dr. Lin as it's only a couple miles from home but I needed to follow up asap due to my biopsy results... This location in Westlake is a very small office and the waiting area/lobby is very little and was packed! Had to wait 35 minutes past my appointment time so that was a little frustrating. Everyone is so nice here and the medical assistant who took care of me was a sweetheart! Thank you Emily! She was kind and professional and bandaged me up so good after having 3 small squamous cell cancer removals (scraping with cauterization) And... Dr. Lin!! He's great! I love that he takes his time with his patients! He's thorough, explains things well, he's kind and patient... and he keeps it simple! No unnecessary aggressive treatments... I have to say, there was another dermatologist I went to years ago who was very aggressive towards treating a tiny squamous cell skin cancer on my other leg. He performed Mohs surgery that probably wasn't necessary! I had to fight with my insurance because they denied it at the first request for authorization and again in my first appeal then finally approved it. So looking back I think maybe it was a bit overkill? Anyway!! If you're trying to decide on a dermatologist I highly recommend Dr. Lin and his team! read more

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with Dr. Shapiro at this office. While the staff were helpful, my consultation with Dr. Shapiro was very unsatisfactory. - Time Spent: He spent less than 5 minutes with me. - Lack of Examination: He never conduct any kind of physical exam to assess my issues. There was absolutely no conversation about dermatological products I'm using, my lifestyle or what might be contributing to the issues I came in about. - Prescriptions: Upon entering the exam room, he immediately rattled off multiple prescriptions he was going to give me, without any discussion. One of the medications he prescribed is something I already take, and he suggested I use it more, which isn't feasible for my lifestyle. When I mentioned this, he added another prescription, then noted that it may not be approved by my insurance. Overall, I felt rushed and unheard. This was the worst dermatological visit I've ever had, and I will not be returning. read more

The health care system has hit a new low. First of all the doctor that saw me was a RETIRED 82 y/o. He told me he only practices for "fun" because the office cannot find a dermatologist for the office. He said I was not a candidate for skin cancer because I have olive skin and Im not old enough to have skin cancer. I told him I have had pre cancerous skin lesions removed in the past. He said they ony wanted to make money. He also said never to trust a nurse practicioner because they have much less education. The reason I went in is because I have had a bleeding mole on my forehead for months. He looked at from a far and said its benign. He said dont touch it and it wont bleed. Insurance wont cover for the mole to be removed even if it is bleeding. I will be getting a second opinion by a more reputable Dermatologist office. read more

Everyone is pleasant but the cons outweigh the pros. I needed treatment for a rash on my abdomen and eczema around my eyes. Both rx are labeled for eyes but cvs said neither are suitable for eyelids. I'm afraid to use either ointment. It is impossible to reach anyone and I have been trying for 6 days and leaving multiple messages. I would be very wary in going to this office. You only see physician assistants, never the dr. All she does is prescribe different ointments but being mislabeled is really dangerous read more

My daughter is a first time patient and I have had the worst experience with the Westlake Village office. For starters, we arrived 5 minutes late and were told that next time we were late we would be subject to the late fee. When I asked what the policy was, they informed me there was a 15 minute grace period. I verified my appointment time and the front clerk confirmed that I was only 5 minutes late so I was a little confused as to why I would be subject to their late fee when I was 5 minutes late and their late policy is 15 minutes. But that's not my main gripe. The Dr prescribed my daughter a topical cream that was not covered by our insurance. The pharmacy tried to contact the office but the office never responded. The insurance sent the office and myself a letter of denial and in the letter listed out the exact topical cream that they would approve. Seems simple enough to just prescribe the other cream listed out in the insurance letter. I have been trying to contact the office for TWO WEEKS and can not get anywhere with them. For starters, it's impossible to contact the office directly. You're sent to a call center and have to deal directly through them. Each time I call, the call center tries to get ahold of the office and I'm placed on a large wait. Currently, on hold for 20 minutes and counting. At one point, I was told that the office would submit for a new claim through my insurance and we would hear in a day or two and they would contact me back directly. That was a week ago. Never heard from anyone. It's been TWO WEEKS since my daughter's appointment and we can not get the office to contact the pharmacy, myself, the call center can't seem to make any progress with them. If I don't have this settled by the end of the week, I'm going to have to drive down to the office and get this simple issue corrected in person. I will NOT be returning nor would I ever recommend this office. I don't understand why it's been so difficult for them to just do something as simple as put in for a different prescription. Or why it's damn near impossible to get ahold of anyone. Extremely frustrated. read more

I had my next appointment since my last review with Dr Lin and Taylor. Another wonderful visit. You walk in, greeted with a smile by front desk and Taylor. Never a wait and i was seen for an update of the treatments I had wondering if I would need Moe's surgery. However all spots were cleared up and no evidence of skin cancer. The office is clean and as I stated before, the staff are super friendly. Taylor is professional yet keeps me smiling with her humor. I am relaxed when I come to this office. I wish every doctor office could have a caring staff like this. So I was told I don;t need to come back until 6 months for a check up. I was so relieved they got rid of my skin cancer. Thank you All. Where do I start. First off the "dr" wouldn't give me her last name, she goes by Leila. Don't get me wrong, she was very friendly, however talked way to fast & rushed through the appointment. She prescribed 4 different medicines & said try them all, come back in a month & we will see how you're doing. I called the front office today to get the names of the medicines & Angel in the front office was so put out I was asking for the names. Then I proceeded to cancel my next appointment as I will be getting a second opinion from a different Dr & I got loads of attitude. I asked her if I would be getting a confirmation number as they charge $75 for no shows. She told me no, so I asked how do I know it's been cancelled, I just don't want to be charged. & she said Becuase I cancelled it, that's how you'll know. We had to switch Dermatologist for My daughter who has a bad wart problem that wasn't being taken seriously. Wee have been Seeing Layla for a couple weeks and she had been AMAZING!!! She has taken the extra time with my daughter and made more progress in 2 visits than 9 months with our old dermatologist. We are so thankful for her. Sydney who bandages my daughter up after has been sweet and patience. My daughter looks forward to coming and seeing them both. We will forever be great full for them :) read more
