I'd never been to a chiropractor before, so I didn't know what to expect. I left the first session feeling pretty good, but by the time I got home (I live around the corner), I felt incredible. And I've felt better and better with each passing day. I've gone twice now in the last week and been completely satisfied both times. Dr. Mike was kind and professional. This is the kind of Chiropractor that gives the practice a bad name. I visited Dr. Mike on a recommendation from a friend (although, really, how good of a friend could he be if he sent me here?). Word on the street was this magical Dr. Mike could fix lifelong back problems in just one visit (I only have myself to blame for believing that. But desperate times and whatnot). My right hip was out of place and I needed it put back in so I could work. Physical Therapists have been able to do it painlessly in the past but my usual PT wasn't available. So I drove me and my $90 down to Magazine street. After talking to me and not even looking at my body yet, Dr. Mike decided that the two herniated discs that I have had for years (yes, I have had an MRI and possess an MRI report, neither of which he asked about) were not actually herniated at all and that the hip problem was causing them to bulge. The back pain and disc issues weren't new. The hip moving out of place was. But of course, Dr. Mike knows better than every single other medical professional I've seen about the issue including a neurosurgeon, physical therapists, and other chiropractors. And he knew that without actually touching me! MAGIC! He did an exam for less than 5 minutes then put me in a massage chair. Yes. A massage chair. He didn't explain what it was for. 20 minutes later he's got me on a table giving me "sound wave" therapy. It was a massager. Seriously, if I wanted to sit in a massage chair and have someone massage wand my hip I would've just gone to Brookstone and played with the floor models for free. He decided that my left hip was "stuck" which was causing my right hip to overwork and go out of place. This very well could be the case. However, instead of stabilizing the right hip he just worked on "unsticking" the left hip. When I got off the table I didn't walk properly- but a different kind of not walking properly than I'd come in with. He said I was "wobbling" then put me back on the table for more. When I got up the second time, I was still walking just as messed up as before. But he decided that was good enough and sent me home with instructions to ice it. It was only at the end that he asked if I'd had an MRI or have reports I could show him. Seems like the kind of thing you'd mention on the phone when the appointment was made. I was in and out in far less than an hour. My hips hurt more and more as the day went on. The next day, the problem hip was even more out of place than before and I was in too much pain to work. I could hardly walk. I called Dr. Mike as I lay on the floor trying to stretch and he told me this was a sign that the adjustment had taken well and to give it another 24 hours. Wait...what? The right hip getting even worse was his treatment WORKING? Right. Ok, buddy. Later that day my PT was available and she gently put my hip back in place the way she has plenty of times before. She was so upset I'd wasted money on this joker or had to suffer. I was too. I could've gotten someone to further injure me for free. I seriously want my money back. TL;DR: don't waste your money on this hack. There are legit chiropractors in this city who actually care about their patients and even accept medicaid plans. Dr. Mike is not one of them. read more

I had been searching for the right chiropractor since shortly after the storm when mine passed away. Dr. Ken Christensen had a real gift for relieving pain and I initially went to the chiropractor that all of his patients were being referred to. I didn't like her at all and endured quite a bit of discomfort rather than go back to her. About a month ago, my shoulder and upper back were really bothering me so I decided to check Yelp and stumbled upon Dr. Lechleiter. He actually answered the phone when I called (!) and in one visit my shoulder pain was gone! He doesn't try to get you to come back for endless costly visits either. I have recently moved to NOLA, and visit the Chiropractor once every 4 to 6 weeks for the past 3 years. I have a bad back and this maintenance program keeps everything working. I read the reviews here on Yelp, and decided to visit Dr. Mike. I called the office yesterday and he answered the phone and I booked an appointment for today. I was a bit of a mess as I have been sleeping on a hotel bed and doing a lot of traveling. He did a very detailed examination and then proceeded to treat me accordingly. Well a few hours later I do feel a lot better and plan to utilize him as my regular Chiropractor. He was very friendly and his techniques gave me great confidence in his abilities. I usually wait a few visits before I let a new chiropractor adjust my neck, however I felt immediatly comfortable with him and let him proceed. I'm really happy with the treatments that I have received with Dr. Mike. I have been seeing a chiropractor in San Diego for years since a bad car accident but I hadn't found one I liked in New Orleans until I found Dr. Mike on Yelp. Since I was familiar with the different types of treatments he offered, Dr. Mike didn't go into depth as to what he was doing each time. I actually really appreciated that he took into account my previous experiences. For treatment that I hadn't received, he did a great job explaining the how and why. Every time I leave there, I feel 100% better. Pro-tips: I have insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield and my treatment is covered (with my regular co-pay). Every time we are in Town I come to see dr Mike! He is alway a joy to see. He's a jolly fellow. Always precise adjustments. This time I had low back and I had jammed my right thumb. First visit last week he pulled my thumb back into joint. I realize I need healing time and it would take some time.. But I said my thumb is still sore. Without a blink he said let me see. I felt no different after leaving than before I went in the first place. Also there were no safety precautions taken in regards to COVID 19. Neither the Dr. or his previous patient were wearing masks, nor were the tables wiped after. He even said that masks don't work but transmission can happen through the eyes and surface contact.??? Once loosened up on a roller table he took some mobility observations. A couple clicks from a hand held tool and a sound wave (vibration massager) and we were all finished. He reassured me a couple times that I should be feeling better but didn't, not then, not later. Maybe after multiple attempts my issue could be resolved, I didn't expect to be fixed right away. However there was no change in my problem. His flippant attitude toward the pandemic was most troubling, especially from a healthcare provider. As a skeptic myself, I am promoting the therapy not only as a believer but also as a patient. Chiropractic health care was established in the 1890s by D.D. Palmer while his son, B. J. I would be bed ridden for up to 9 months and then begin rehab to walk again. Incredibly frightened and instructed by my mother's co-worker to seek alternative therapy, I sought out a chiropractor. I came to Dr. Mike because of his Yelp! reviews and he is all that is said. I have been very pleased with my results. For a year and a half I suffered in intense pain, seeking relief from a variety of specialists (massage therapy, Orthopedic doctor, physical therapy, over the counter products, etc.). Finally, I thought about seeing a new "specialist", thinking that maybe a Chiropractor would help. On the first visit I noticed a change, the intense pain was gone and I felt lighter. Several things bothered me during my visit yesterday: 1. When he asked me what brought me in, Dr. L. didn't let me finish telling him why I was there. I had three main problems I was hoping to address, but as I was finishing the description of the first one, he abruptly told me to get on a mechanical table that would prepare me for my adjustment, not allowing me to tell him all the reasons I had come in. 2. When I was there, Dr. L was treating a couple of patients at once. While he chatted amiably with one, he left me unattended on a machine that was supposed to prepare me for my adjustment. After a few minutes, the machine was hurting me badly and exacerbating one of the problems I came to see him about. I called out to him a couple of times to ask if the treatment was supposed to be hurting me and finally had to yell, to get his attention: "Is this supposed to hurt?" He then came and turned off the machine and coldly told me to wait. 3. After he did my adjustment, Dr. L. made as if to hustle me out of the room. I said, "There were a couple of other things I wanted you to help me with." In a nasty tone of voice, he said, "I asked you what brought you in!" I replied, "Yes, but you didn't let me finish." He came back with, "You can't get every body part treated in one session." He then impatiently listened to my two other issues and quickly gave some them minimal attention. He was definitely not all chatty with me, as he had been with the other patient he was treating while I was suffering on the mechanical table, as I tried to get information about how I could promote the healing of the issues he treated me for. 4. As I was leaving, I was expecting him to tell me when to come back, but he only told me to call someone else and gave me another chiropractor's card, saying, "This doctor treats patients with Medicare," as if to tell me not to come back. I have a good Medicare supplement and don't have a problem paying copays for paying outright for services rendered. 5. This was the WORST I've ever been treated by ANY healthcare proffessional ANYWHERE. 6. Dr. L. has a framed motto about hugs on his desk -- something like "Hugs are free -- and they can be returned." These words stand in stark contrast to the way he treated me. I saw none of the "awesomeness" and amiability I read about in other reviews, but I got a triple dose of the anger mentioned by Michelle M. on 2/4/2015. read more

The first time I saw Dr. Mike he did a good job and was very nice. I thought I finally found a good chiropractor in New Orleans. Then the second time I came, he got very short and angry with me because I was 10 minutes late. I was surprised to see that side of his personality. His adjustment was just okay, it wasn't as good as the first time. I went to him again, and he spent 5 minutes adjusting me and again, had a nasty attitude. He will be friendly for a moment and then can turn on a dime, which means that his friendliness is phony. I really don't want to give my business to someone who talks to me that way. And a 5 minute adjustment isn't worth me driving all of the way there. I am back looking for a great chiro in New Orleans, one that measures up to what I am used to in Los Angeles. read more
