This time it was a pitstop on the way back from Ren Fest. A place to eat and get off the road. And for Kid K to shop. I told her it would probably be busy since it was an outlet mall on a Saturday. It was not. Hardly anyone there. Half the stores were gone, empty, and a fair number of those still there were not open. We went to Carter's, TJ Maxx, BBW, and Pottery Barn. All huge, all with lots of interesting items. Most not at great prices, but a few real deals. Service at each was friendly. Not super easy to find each store, though there are signs at the end of each row. Easiest way to get around was to look at Yelp and see where each store was. No food to speak of in the mall. Fast food and a few other places out at the road. Restrooms were clean. And amusing (see pic.) The outlet down 71 slowly withered and died. This doesn't look that bad. Yet. It'll probably be years before I'm back, and I am not betting on it being open then...

Even if you're lucky enough for 70% off. I've spent thousands here over the years, but the last three trips in two months, walked out without anything -- and small purchases in the last few months. The dump bins at 70% right now are ridiculous. $200 for a drapery panel? Outlets are such a racket. No wonder they're dying. See photos of a raffia grass cloth box, marked to $229 with 70% off -- they're insane. This is in the messy, scratch & dent section. They apparently aren't in any hurry to move inventory anymore. Good luck.

It was the first store I hit when I was there the other day and I'm glad I did. This is a cool new store! It's full of the offbeat and the oddball. Some stuff is practical and some of it is just fun. They advertise that there's 1500 different items in this store and I believe them. There's all the things that you would never think you needed or wanted. I actually found several things that I wanted to buy but my rule is no more than one armload per store to keep myself in check when it comes to swiping the plastic. Thank goodness they don't have shopping carts! And that's my short and sweet review folks. But for anyone wanting to know what I bought - keep reading. I ended up narrowing it down to three things: I got a Vegetti which is a veggie peeler that makes strands of veggies to use in pastas - I need that. A cat scratcher that the boys will like rubbing up on - When will they make those for people? Finally I got a fake security camera because a friend of mine wants a real one but is he's way too cheap to buy the real thing.

Some of the bags in the factory store were much more affordable and the day I went (a few days after Christmas) they were doing an additional 50% off everything. Nice! But be aware that not all products or shades are stocked here and they have no control over that. However, the service we got here was terrible. Upon walking in, there was no greeting and the two workers just stood in the corner talking to themselves. Upon that reception, I wanted to walk out, but I needed my makeup so we toughed it out. But the service just got worse. We checked out and at the end, we were alarmed at how high our total was since it was 40% off right? We were then told the Estée Lauder advanced night repair was not on sale but everything is final sale. That's fine, but they didn't even have the decency to notify us that this was one of the few products not on sale. When we asked about the promotion upon entering, she said the Tory Burch and the back wall were excluded but did not note that there were additional products aside from that. The workers were just rude and very cold toward us and seemed smug at the end of the transaction. I wish I could say this was the only time I've had an experience like this but it seems every time I come, the workers are cold and do not interact with the customers, leaving me with a bad experience. I wish there was a way to get my products at this price without having to go through this type of experience again.
