I saw Gomendoza for approximately 4 years maybe longer. At first I thought he was very knowledgeable and caring; however I have come to find out otherwise.
I had a release sent over to his office and first had an interaction with a nurse who was not so friendly and told me I needed to pay $35.00 to fill out said paperwork. Come to find out I got the release I needed until later in the week when I noticed an error that I believed Gomendoza had made. He had said I had a diagnosis when I had never seen such diagnosis in my chart.
I noted that error on a release form that he had filled out in 2023. I sent him a letter and a copy of the release form and asked him to fix it along with another concern that I had. I sent any and all evidence that I needed to to support my case.
I got that same nurse who came back at me and told me that Gomendoza was not going to fix it and that I needed to pay the money for the paperwork. I questioned what the criteria for the diagnosis was and when I was diagnosed with this because it was news to me.
I never got a response.
I had also mentioned that I didn't feel he was listening to me since he wanted more tests for another concern. This was even with proof he requested regarding the other concern; but would try to shove a lifetime drug down my throat without further testing. There was an incident with a test being negative even though said condition was present when the test was collected but I was wrong.
I then started advocating for myself because, I, as a patient have that right. I never threatened him or his staff. If I was guilty of anything it was being extremely stressed out. (I buried a friend that Monday, death anniversary Tuesday, and kid's birthday on Wednesday) Anybody would be! I noted this in my originally letter that it was a horrible week to begin with and I was just trying to find a solution and I felt like I wasn't being heard.
I called patient advocate who tried to help, but their hands are tied. The doctors have all the power it seems. And sure enough, I got a letter in the mail today that I'm being dismissed from the practice for disruptive behavior.
It's amazing how ONE disagreement in YEARS can cause a dismissal. At first, I would always recommend him to anyone but now not so much. He would always run at least a half hour behind, want this and that test and x-ray, but when you're being the most vulnerable, it's a problem. Please find a different doctor if you can. I felt like he was more concerned with vaccines and medicines than finding the root cause of the problem. But when I asked for a medicine for a condition I KNEW I had, he wanted multiple tests, multiple specimens for a "confirmation" of diagnosis. This was with a picture of the condition present that I had sent him.
And it seemed like everything was about my weight. I needed this vaccine and that vaccine because of this and that. Even if you said no, he'd say think about it and we'll talk again at the next appointment.
It is severely disheartening that this is what our medicine has come to. As a patient you have no appeal process or anything in regards to doctors. read more
