Kate A - I've always wanted and worn the "short" Meg Ryan haircut, yet always felt that I couldn't keep it consistent. One cut would be too short, then not short-enough, then uneven. And my color was inconsistent as well. I have thick hair that grows fast, so keeping a short haircut requires a lot of maintenance for me. A patient of mine commented on my hair once and said "You have to try Michael Brothers salon!" The owner was actually trained by Sally Hershberger who does Meg Ryan's hair! So that's how I heard of this salon. I was fortunate enough to get Dave, one of the top salon experts there. First of all, he is so kind and nice, with great energy. But what I especially love about him is that he is totally focused on me when I'm there. He listens to what I want, makes useful suggestions, and is actually working with me in growing out a longer version of Meg's hair. I've always wanted longer hair, but end up failing because of that "in between" time when it's just maddening. But what he does is he makes sure I'm seeing him regularly during those times to thin it out so that I can make it through those tough times. His color is amazing! He stays up-to-date on the latest trends, and you don't have to worry about him falling behind on the newest technologies and/ or styles of cuts. I got very lucky with Dave. I continue to look forward to working with him. I highly recommend him if you want a consistently good cut and color, and are open to hearing awesome suggestions when/if he thinks a fun change is in order! I have multiple conversations to arrange an appt. I drive 2 hrs and he forgot my appt, I wait over an hour, my head is shaved nearly bald, "stylist" pushes for a huge tip, and then charges 150% of retail for a hair product. You can go to Michael Brothers - just AVOID DAVID BURRIS. **************** After scouring the net for decent reviews for a good stylist - I settled on Michael Brothers. Although not mentioned on their site, David Burris was complimented 2-3 times on Yelp, so David became my choice. After having my 2 previous appts canceled due to snow, we finally found a workable day and time. I showed up 25 min early. David was busy cutting a child's hair (really cute cut) but then he talked with the dad - FOREVER. I know more than I need to know about his proclaimed soccer prowess, religion, Sunday schedules, college stories, etc. Basically, he's a deep douche but he did a good job with the kid and the cut was cute. I really needed a style, so I stayed. Finally, they disband. I have been waiting for 45min so far. In walks another guy and goes straight to the chair and David starts cutting him! (wtf?) When this appt is nearly finished, he asks if I am waiting on him - yes, I am. He apologized and totally forgot to write down my appt even tho we have communicated multiple times about this day. I have been there more than an hour and still have a 2 hr drive home. Long story short, I brought several pictures, as I had shoulder-length hair and wanted more texture and layers. We agreed on what would work and he started. Then he was instantly overcome with amnesia. He just cut off all my hair. It is literally 1/2 inch long all over my head but for a 2-3 inch patch on the very top. It is one of the laziest worst cuts of all time. I could have gone to SuperCuts or any strip mall random Susie shop in my small town and done as well. He said he wouldn't take it short in the back, ha! No wonder he never showed me the back when he was done. I can barely pinch it between my fingers. It is barely there all the way up SHORT. It is a disaster. It will take months for me to even qualify as having a short cut. I guess he has one "specialty" - the same cut on all of us: the 8 yr old, the good ole boy, and me. The kid looked great, the good ole boy was average, and I am a disaster. All crew cuts. To top it all off, he holds his phone in front of your face while staring at you to approve the $75 billing for a cut with a hefty tip option. I saw a "2" and tapped what ended up being a 25% tip. Holy shit. I had already agreed to buy a hair product. When I got home I found that I was charged $45 for it. Are you F kidding me? I looked it up online and it RETAILS for $29 - so for a mere 150% markup, I have the privilege of being shorn like a damn sheep, intimidated into a big tip and buying a product at an outrageous price. I forgot to mention how he brags on how "great" he is the whole time, omg. This whole horrid experience will burn me for years each time it pops into my brain. Screw you David Burris. I have known Dave Burris for several years. He takes the time to totally understand your hair, and listens to his customers. He is a very kind, compassionate person who is fully committed to customer service. When my daughter was diagnosed with leukemia, she found out that she was going to lose all of her hair. Dave willingly came to the hospital to help her cut her hair off. He made a difficult situation into a positive experience for my daughter. He takes the time every time to get my hair perfect. I would highly recommend Dave for a color, a cut or to manage any of your hair care needs. read more

I'm incredibly pissed about what happened to my hair I can't even begin to explain...This has nothing to do with the owner, however it's the Hairstylist (Stirling Madrid) who fucked up my hair!!! I begin to noticed that she's been 2x charging to install my extensions but she wasn't fully putting all of my extensions in! Are you trying to take advantage of me? Seriously what kind of fuckery is this?! I begin to noticed the back crown of my hair was extremely fried leaving almost a bald spot..not only that my extensions that I paid over 1k was 22 inch when it was ordered and I noticed that it was getting shorter almost 16 inch..like she's cutting my extensions without my permissions!!!not cool! For all the blonde ladies out there, you better watch out! read more

Oh gosh! After reading Stephen S.'s review, I had to chime in. I think Michael Brothers is one of the best hair salons I've ever been to, and I have tried a lot of nice salons in Dallas (Frederic Fekkai, Osgood O'Neill, Johnny Rodriguez, etc.). Yes, Michael's prices are expensive, but I think he's a master at hair. Not to mention just a fun person to be around. If you're the kind of person who thinks more than $40 for a women's cut is too much, then Michael is not for you. If you value quality over budget, then it doesn't get any better. I do think the lower level stylists would be less expensive but I can't vouch for their work. read more

I have been going to Michael Brothers Hair for over a decade. And now that I live in Oklahoma City I drive all the way to Tulsa to get my hair fix. The staff at Michael Brothers Hair is amazing. Everyone is very skilled and very kind. Michael has taken the time to invest in his staff and teach them great customer service as well as hair design. I feel like the service they provide keeps me coming back. My hair always looks amazing and I won't go anywhere else. Tulsa is lucky to have Michael and his team. It's like having a little piece of L.A. or NYC in Tulsa! Over the years I have been very satisfied with my hair. I love coming here...for me it's like going to a spa to get my hair done. Also, although Michael does my hair the other stylists are so talented. I have loved watching all the amazing hair his business partner Amanda has done over the years. Michael and Amanda have extensive experience and are both experts in their field. Michael and Amanda stay very busy because they are very loved in the Tulsa community and they both have extremely loyal clients.
