This practice was great place when Dr. Mones and his wife were handling the business. I truly miss their personal touch and care. I remember that shortly prior to retiring they turned over their customer service calls to an outside provide . The new doctors continues with this practice and it is extremely hard to get accurate responsive phone service due to this. For example, I made an appointment over the phone and the outside service took the call I made it a point to ask them to be sure it was within the allotted time frame my insurance allows. I went to my appointment and it was outside of the time frame my insurance allows. Had I been able to call the office directly, they would have verified my medical records to ensure I would be able to claim the cost on insurance. Another time I left my glasses in the office, it was a challenge to get someone on the phone to check for me. I realize lots of office feel they must outsource their customer service calls but it just makes it so difficult, I've decided to just drive to the office whenever I have a question. Other than the phone service concern, I have to say that the new doctore, Dr Elgozy, is a kind and compassionate doctor. I feel well taken care of by his staff. Folks took a care of me for my annual physical. The PA and NP were very professional and friendly. EKG, Blood Work, vitals, and urine sample were taken during my visit. All checked out and feeling confident my health remains in tact. All told the visit took 1.5 hours which is above average, compared to other offices. I highly recommend this place. read more

Do not go to this place. They have fees that they do not tell you about and then expect you to pay for them once they gave you the services. They have a credit card service charge, which the receptionist did not tell me later pointing to a sign that was inside the office away from where you are paying. Then when I was leaving she told me there was a convenience charge for the labs, that if I didn't wasn't to pay I should had just gotten a doctors note and gone myself; yea that would had been more convenient instead of waiting for two hours for some blood test. No stars. It is a shameful operation which obviously scams many people but they couldn't scam me. I was basically threatened that unless I agreed to tests they CLAIM my insurance would not pay for ( what insurance does not pay for a chest X-ray?) that they would not give me a medical clearance which they did not so I wasted a lot of time. They wanted me to have an unnecessary PTT blood test even though there was no blood thinning medication in my history. "My insurance says No to paying for it, they claimed". They acted like they had me in a bind so I would fold and pay CASH out of pocket for regular clinic services to get my Medical Clearance for low risk Cataract surgery coming up. But I did NOT fold even under their severe pressure to hold my Medical Clearance hostage. It was so uncomfortable, it made me ill. The State Attorney should shut them down. Don't go here! Don't trust the overall rating!!! This place is the worst! Go anywhere but here. Four stars has to be from fake reviews. Run from this place! The front desk person was an idiot and lazy. She wouldn't call the insurance to verify eligibility and then after charging for the visit, didn't even let anyone know that there was a patient in the room waiting. Eventually, after wandering the halls looking for someone a person checked and found out the purpose for the visit. The doctor came in and didn't so much as check lymph nodes. I've been here twice and have had very nice service. I would recommend this place to others from my experiences. I appreciate the staff being friendly and patient. One thing I would like to see in the future is getting calls about medical results even if they are negative. I have Quest so I am able to see online, but I didn't always have this feature. I do appreciate being able to text the doctor. That is a very helpful resource to us patients. For your parking reference there is pay by phone for 2 hours only and apparently another lot or garage (not sure which). read more

Selected this practice due to the Yelp reviews and proximity to where I live. I had a terrible cough and feared it may be strep or bronchitis. Went in on a Friday morning and I want to say the total visit time was around an hour or so, pretty quick. Check-in is done on an iPad and all patient info is stored on a large touch screen tv/monitor instead of paper. Kind of cool. The only reason I am giving less than 5 stars is because I saw a physicians assistant not an actual doctor. While he was very nice and did a thorough job of diagnosing and giving good advice, I would have liked to see the doctor himself. Most people go to urgent cares because they pump out prescriptions. I respect this place more because they didn't. Sometimes there isn't a magic bullet and you have to let things run their course. I was diagnosed with a viral infection though they did take a culture for testing. And he recommended a few home remedies like salt water gargles. I would definitely go here again and recommend to others. FYI parking is $3 if you get it validated. Plenty of parking available behind the building. With no validation it is $20. I did have to ask for the validation at the reception desk, would have been nice if they asked or offered. But otherwise very pleasant experience. read more

It's been a while...just about a year since I was there.. Details may be fuzzy.. I do remember being taken care of in a timely manner in a very pleasant waiting room..with a lovely and caring staff. Went there because twice, in two days I had hit the same spot on my leg, (a real klutz move), and it looked nasty..in fact, After my third visit and two antibiotics later,, Dr. Mones said I reaaaaly needed to be seen in an emergency room setting and sent me to Coral Gables Hospital where I spent a week as an inpatient....after which, I visited the wound care clinic at Pan American where I ended up with a skin graft. Although it would suit me juuust fine to never see the inside of the urgent-care center again, I would not hesitate to go again or to recommend it to anyone in need of such a facility. I have been coming to Miami Urgent Care for a couple of years now. Whether I had insurance or not, I have always appreciated the professional service and care. I do not know where I would be without them. Dr. Harris Mones and his staff are always direct with the facts, the costs, and the treatments needed. I needed PEP treatment which is time sensitive. I called around and the ER's that picked up the phone didn't even know what PEP treatment was. Some giving me the verbal cues of teenager with disgust. I couldn't get any of the big ER's to pick up the phone. If it wasn't for this urgent care, I'd be waiting hours and would have accrued thousands of dollars in charges before even speaking to the right person for the treatment needed. Miami Urgent Care knew the facts, the time sensitive nature of the treatment, and has protocols in place for PEP. The staff even went out of their way to help me get paperwork processed with the drug manufacturers for assistance (no insurance currently.) I was looking at 4500 in drug cost alone and I got them for free. (Also, shout of for CVS, for frantically trying to find me coupons.) I can't stress enough how lucky I am to have found Miami Urgent Care; they're on my contact list and I still visit them when I'm back in Miami. read more

I've been a patient of Miami Urgent Care for around 10 years. When I started going there for my routine and urgent medical needs, I was always pleased with the care and respect shown to me by both the support staff and the medical professionals I encountered. This has been changing over the last few years and it's time for me to find another doctor. In 2019, I went there for my annual Medicare Wellness Check and was told that I needed to pay my copay even though it is free. I paid, when the EOB (Explanation of Benefits) arrived, I contacted the billing department and after a very brief discussion, they sent me a refund. In 2020, I was out of the country and unable to return due to the borders being closed as a result of COVID-19. In 2021, I was again told that I needed to pay for my free Annual Wellness Check and when the EOB arrived, I again needed to contact billing to request a refund. This year, 2022, I was, for the third time, told to pay the non-existent copay for my Annual Wellness Check. However, this time they used the wrong billing code for the visit and the EOB showed that I did owe the money. I contacted billing and explained that they had used the wrong billing code. They stated that they didn't think they were wrong but had not yet received their EOB. I sent them a copy of the EOB I received and even showed them where the code should go and what it should be for the Annual Wellness Check. That did nothing to help. It was explained to me that I may have gone there for an Annual Wellness Check, but the staff decided to do something else instead and that I did need to pay the money. I decided at that point to look for another doctor who will do what I ask them to do and not find ways to pad my bill. One final note, I was told to fast before arriving since samples would be taken for the lab. However, for the first time in my life, I was told that fasting included water and was told to not drink any water before the tests. I asked the person giving me my instructions to verify the no water requirement and she did. As a healthcare professional, I know that this will affect the results of the lab tests and is bordering on medical errors. Medicare recipients, you need to pay very close attention to your EOBs. read more

I was here yesterday and walked out after waiting close to an hour in the waiting room then another 30 mins in the patient room. This after being billed maybe less than 10 mins after walking in. I called before asking if I should make an appointment or walkin, they said walking in is fine. The way this place runs, not sure an appointment would matter because they were willing to put me in front of another patient when I was walking out. I say nothing is more precious than time. Well your children if you have any, and I could not wait what could have two hours or more, when I was going to pick up my son. So I left and they said to come back tomorrow when they would have less patients. If you have only one doctor and you know wait times are going to be more than 30 minutes, as a courtesy at least warn your patients. I'd rather leave and try again if you tell me I have what seemed to be 5 people in front of me with unknown times for each session. When I was leaving, Alex asked if I wanted a refund or if I could come back, I opted to try again due to the convenience of the location, they billed me (insurance claim back and forth such a hassle), availability and possibly bringing my wife to also be a regular here. Doctor Mones was kind enough to contact me early the next day to tell me to come back and assured me I would not have to wait. So I called the office today asked for Alex as specified by Dr Mones, she said wait times were short, not sure if she and the doctor discussed the issue. I checked in, was in the waiting room less than 5 mins. I was called into the patient room , been waiting now close to 30 minutes. I understand other patients are here, but if you're trying to save face with a potentially new client, I should have been expected as I did give 30 mins notice with assurance from the Head doctor I would be seen without delay. I just came for a general checkup, refill on a prescription and information on what's available for my wife. One of the reasons I wanted to come here was for the great reviews. Maybe this is a fluke, or maybe this is how it really is here.... I don't like to post such a long negative review, but I have all this time to do it, so here it is. I close this review with approximately the time I was waiting this time before starting with the doctor or the on call one. Approx wait time on 2nd try: 30 mins (running stop watch) Approx time with doctor: 7 mins. Total approx time: 45 mins. Think I'm going to try somewhere else. The staff was polite at least. But I'd rather you be on time, and blunt than sweet and wasting so much time on what seemed like a very easy day. read more

I am on a temporary work project here in Miami so I don't have a regular physician. I had bronchitis and went to a different urgent care center and they did not give me the correct medicine, and rushed through the appointment and ended up getting worse. I googled urgent care centers with high reviews and decided to try Miami Urgent Care. My examination was so thorough and I actually felt like they cared about my symptoms. I was prescribed the correct medicine and soon all of my symptoms started to disappear. All of the staff, nurses and doctor are very knowledgeable and kind. Dear Miami Urgent Care, Recently, we traveled to Suriname, a small, 3rd world country in South America, and prior to our departure we learned we would need vaccines and malaria pills. WHERE on earth are we really going, I wondered? But, I figured it was better to be safe than sorry. Since time was of the essence, I looked on the CDC's website for local offices where we could obtain what's called "Travel Medicine"... Of course, this being America and all, travel medicine is not covered by insurance companies, so I also needed to find something/somewhere reasonably priced. This is where you came through. Although it was still pretty expensive (we spent $400 for everything), compared to other doctor's offices, you were our best bet. You saw us late on a Friday afternoon, a couple of days before we needed to leave. There was barely any wait and your staff & docs were really cool and outgoing. They took us in together, did quick vitals on us each, and then the doc came in to give us our yellow fever shots. My love has had knee issues since about April, and has been unable to play racquetball (a huge tragedy). The doc was nice enough to also check it out. The doc sent us off with our prescription to the malaria pills, which were obtained at our local CVS, and our experience was so pleasant, we were able to make you our Primary Care office! Thank goodness you take our insurance. Since this experience, my love has been back to have his knee re-looked at and to go for his MRI, as well as his follow-up visit. Fast friendly, and efficient. Had me on my way in no time. Had a painful gout attack. Within a few hours, I was good to go after treatment.

A further update: Three months after my initial visit, three months after utterly ignoring all requests on to interpret the bloodwork the doctor asked me to do and certainly charged me for, these idiots called me because they wanted to do a "followup". That's right. They called me in July 2012 to try to wring more money out of me. The doctor was still insisting that I have acid reflux, when I repeatedly told him I do not and have no symptoms of it. I'm an opera singer, for crying out loud. I've had reflux before. I think I would know if it were an ongoing problem. The nurse who called didn't bother to ask whether I'd been having any problems, either --- she just said the doctor wanted me to come in for a "followup" (read: another cash deposit). Also, I don't live in Miami, either. I don't even live in Florida. These people are nothing but bloodsuckers. Stay away. Update: TWO WEEKS after filling out the online form and sending an email request for my bloodwork --- which was one of the three options offered by the office --- I received an email requesting that I make another appointment (and pay another fee) to have my results interpreted. I responded that I would not be making an appointment and that they should email or call. A couple of days later they sent a copy of my bloodwork, no interpretation. You are clearly ONLY going to get an explanation if you pay extra for it. Stay away. read more

Great place! Went in for lab work & general checkup. Waited less than 10 m & was seen by Dr Mones within 5 minutes. Waiting room was warm & had iPads to use while waiting with wifi of course. What I really liked was the thorough examination & referring me to eye dr. I called & they had my lab results within 2 days of original exam. Experience visiting your office was outstanding. Staff were respectful and provided quality customer service. From the the call to arrange appointment to the actual visit. The waiting time was reasonable considering is a Dr. office and to add urgent care. I felt comfortable sharing reason for visit and Dr. Mones has a down to earth personality not like other Dr.'s around town. He was very personable and made me fee like I was just talking to one of my close friends, and I could openly talk to him without judgements. I would definitely return for medical needs and would choose him as my primary care physician if in near future covered by my insurance. I went to Miami Urgent Care and Family Practice after experiencing two weeks of stomach issues. Yalin, a PA at the office, took the time to listen to everything I was experiencing and think about a plan to tackle my symptoms. From blood work to an abdominal ultrasound and other tests, Yalin was able to rule out certain issues and prescribe the right medications for me. My follow up appointments went well. I really appreciate that the office opens at 7 am so I was able to make it to work on time. The online portal is also helpful since I can refer back to all test results.
