It got to the point that I had to go to urgent care to then go to a podiatrist to then be told I needed physical therapy. Luckily for me, I got sent to Florida Occupational Healthcare. For a month, three times a week, I had therapy at 7 in the morning. To begin with, I'm not even a morning person, yet these people made it worth my while. I didn't dread coming in the morning. I was always treated with kindness and respect. From the receptionists to the physical therapists, every single person working has a smile on their face. Not to mention that one of the therapists, Danny, makes some amazing coffee. That aside, my therapist was Alain and I'm grateful that he was with me in my journey to fully recover from my sprained ankle. He wasn't just my therapist, he was someone who pushed me to do better in and out of therapy. I don't doubt that now that I return to the gym I will be taking with me some of the exercises I did at physical therapy. All in all, I'm glad that if I had to get physical therapy, I got sent here. They treat you like family. I'm happy I've healed, but I'll miss everyone. I guess with that, I have one thing left to say: Thank you, all, for doing what you do.

I picked the Doral location because it's close to work. Having recently started at a new position and being in my probationary period, I had to deal with a super basic insurance before my employer's policy kicks in. Karla, the office manager, was really helpful in calling and dealing with the company thus saving me that "headache". After previous home & alternative remedies weren't working, I called this office. It's located in a Doral office building and next to another orthopedic practice. From what I understand, the other office is OrthoNow's "home base" where I would go if my condition doesn't ger better. It's also where OrthoNow does their imaging. When I visited, Melissa who does double duty as an xray tech & medical assistant, took my vitals and took me downstairs for xrays. After the x-rays, I was checked out by William the nurse practitioner, who reviewed and said that basically I have tennis elbow, so I have to take it easy for at least a little bit on the weights.

I have been to at least 10 surgeons in my home state of Missouri and one surgeon at Mayo Clinic, with none of them offering me a solution to my pain issues aside from taking opiates, which is not something I wanted to accept for a lifetime. I have tried NSAID's, occupational therapy, PRP, stem cells, prolozone therapy, and just about every other non-surgical modality you can think of without any success. One day when I decided to look up "best hand surgeon in America" after being severely frustrated from chronic pain, I came across Dr. Badia. He has a section on his website where you can reach out to him prior to making an appointment and describe your issues to him. He is big on ensuring patients can reach his clinic in search of hope where other physicians may have failed them. In my initial contact, I advised Dr. Badia of the issues I've been experiencing and he offered me a potential solution with a strong level of confidence that he could help me with my issues. I then came from St. Louis to Miami and had surgery three weeks later and now I can safely say I am pain free for the first time in well over a decade. I immediately woke up pain-free from surgery and could breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the suffering was finally behind me. What no other surgeon could do or was willing to do, Dr. Badia was willing to do. He immediately wanted to listen to what I had to say and was willing to treat me as a human with thoughts and emotions, and not just as another patient he could profit off of. I never realized just how fatigued I was from being in so much pain all because no doctor was willing to take a chance with me. Dr. Badia's level of skill and expertise is unmatched and I have been to some of the top hand surgeons in Missouri - one of which was even world-renowned and wouldn't help me with my issues because he wasn't willing to take a chance when I was willing to take a chance. Dr. Badia never once made me feel like he was superior to me because he was the physician but wanted to work with me as a team to resolve my issues. Dr. Badia has the quintessential clinic setup. His office staff are like a well oiled machine and every bit of my experience went without hiccup, especially considering the COVID-19 pandemic. I will continue to use Dr. Badia for any hand to shoulder issues and would gladly go out to Miami again as opposed to taking any chances of not receiving top-notch service from a different physician. Dr. Badia sees the medical system for what it is and doesn't believe the insurance companies should dictate patient care, but rather believes that the patient should receive the care they need in a timely manner, and has been working on a solution to orthopedic issues in South Florida by starting his own orthopedic urgent care called OrthoNOW. His views on medicine made my treatment much simpler than I feel it would've been had I received similar care in Missouri. He also has an orthopedic rehabilitation clinic, which helped provide me with greater chances of having a successful treatment. I am a veterinarian and I need my hands to be 100% to allow me to perform surgery on my furry four legged patients. The other hand surgeon I initially went to see for my injury said that he would recommend I go to Dr Badia because of his skill level and high case load. The particular injury I had was not super common in the general population, and was associated more with athletes. Dr Badia is out of network for all health insurance policies. So you will likely end up paying more out of pocket than you would with other doctors. But in my opinion, it's worth investing in yourself to ensure the best possible outcome for your injury. I'm still in the recovery phase, so I can speak yet on the outcome...but so far so good. The staff is all very kind and helpful.

I first had an…read moreappointment with the physicians assistant who thought I was a candidate for left hip replacement. The assistant sent me for an mri and return to see him after the mri. When I arrived for 2nd exam, the assistant was able to get the physician to evaluate me, even though I had no appointment to see him. After I saw the physician he approved my left hip replacement. The day before surgery I received a phone call from the surgeon asking me if I was ready for surgery and if I had any questions. I thought it was a classy move by the physician to call me prior to surgery. I arrived at hospital at 5:30 am and at 8 am they were taking me into the surgical suite. By 12:30 pm I was released. To make things easier, the hospital pharmacy filled my scripts saving us time obtaining the scripts. The physician and all the staff were friendly and excellent. Right after the surgery my groin pain is already better. A few hours after I got home I started to read the printed material that I received from the hospital that explains in detail everything from the procedure, the exercises to do, phone to rehab department and a complete list of all medications I received and how much to take and how often. I have had numerous surgeries to different body parts and I never received a complete package like today. I am impressed. I highly recommend this surgeon. It's tough to get a surgeon who is excellent and has great bed side manners and this surgeon has both.
