SO HORRIBLE. I called one Saturday (after buying the Groupon deal for 2 up paddleboards) to see if we could reserve for the next day but they were booked and I was told I needed to reserve a week in advance and to call back or reserve online on Monday..ok fine. I can understand that. When the online booking wouldn't let me reserve using my groupon, I called and they told me to proceed with the reservation without entering my groupon code and that they would apply the discount when I came in for the reservation. So I proceeded to book online without the groupon code but when I finally got down to reserving at a time it only gave me one time available (8:59 pm), obviously that is not right. I called back and the owner (who is actually the reviewer below) told me to text him the time I wanted to come in on sunday and he would put it in the system. I texted him the time I wanted to come, with additional information that he didn't even ask for = because I wanted to make sure they didn't screw this up. I included my name, email address that I used to book online, the time and the date that I wanted to come. So finally Sunday comes around and my boyfriedn and I are excited for a day of paddleboarding. We wanted to confirm our reservation so I called at 10am. The conversation went like this: Me: Hi, I had made a reservation on Monday for this afternoon at 1pm but I just wanted to confirm that you had our reservation. Miami Water Sports: If you made the reservation, we have you booked. (click) My boyfriend and I looked at eachother puzzled. Whatever..We decided to go and when we show up, guess what happened. THEY DIDN'T HAVE OUR RESERVATION!! I told them I had called to confirm that morning and they basically called me a liar and said he would let us reserve another day (uh, they better). We had to leave to put money in our meter but told them we would call back to sort things out. When we called back about 10 minutes later, HE TOLD US HE WAS BUSY WITH CUSTOMERS AND COULD NOT TALK TO US...um what??? WE ARE CUSTOMERS!! The only reason this place gets 1 star is because it is located just across the street from SOUTH BEACH KAYAK. We called them after the disaster at Miami Water Sports and they were able to get us 2 stand up paddleboards for 2 hours RIGHT THEN AND THERE! To sum it up: If you are thinking about using MIami Water Sports, DON'T. I will be calling Groupon to get my money back. read more

AWFUL! I scheduled my paddleboard session through Groupon. I didn't even check this Yelp otherwise I would have never ordered it. My appointment was canceled the day of due to rainy weather, and I found out through a text message. OK, that makes sense. However, I called multiple times to reschedule over the course of week. I am talking at least 10 times, and not once did I get through to anyone on the phone. Instead, they sent a text letting you know they are not available. RUDE. Long story short... Planned a big beach bash for my boyfriend's birthday and spoke to Ernesto a few times the week before to iron out the plans. I didn't confirm how many people were going to participate because I wasn't sure but I told him at least 2 for kiteboarding lessons. I confirmed with him over the phone the day before and he said he'd be there at 9am the next day. Day of... His phone is off and is nowhere to be found on the beach. Finally got a hold of him in the evening after we left the beach and he pretty much told me he didn't go because I was the only one that had called him for lessons. Needless to say, he wasn't too happy when I told him I had around 10 friends that wanted lessons. Serves him right for being so irresponsible. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! read more

Stay away from these folks, they are bad news!! Extremely unorganized, unresponsive and unprofessional! Bought 4 Groupons in August 2012 and to this day (Jan 3, 2013) I can't get a reservation to go paddle boarding. No one ever answers the phone, you get recordings all the time, I have left my information like 4 times and no one has the courtesy to call back. The one and only time I got an answer (from the owner himself) he told me to call a "Camilo" at another phone number, who then never answered his phone, either! I went to the physical address of this place: 1800 Sunset Harbor Dr on Miami Beach and there was no one there, should not have surprised me, a Saturday at 2:00 in the afternoon?? I have contacted Groupon several times and complained, they told me to keep trying to work with these folks, at this point I am starting to question Groupon and their business practices too! Had a great time! Ryan was a great instructor and was very patient. He gave us a good rundown on how to setup the equipment, safety, and control. My friend and I used a groupon that we bought. At first I was disappointed to find out that I wasn't going to actually be getting on the board for my first lesson, but I was happy about it after finding out how much power the kites have! This place is ridiculous. Yelp has give you the option to give a -5 rating. I bought groupon vouchers and in 5 months, these people did not have one day, one hour, where I could use one just one ...not two or three..but one voucher, freaking one voucher for one freaking person. It was impossible to get a human on the phone. Their phone message instructs you to call another number only to be asked to leave a voicemail. I left a voicemail, received no response. I complained, was told to email the owner. I did. Shocking no response... Oh wait, best part I've noticed they continue to offer "deals" on groupon. Yeah, the deal is you pay for nothing. It's hard to speak with a live person they always refer you to the website but it's tricky to book through. We arrived to use our scheduled paddleboard groupon, only to be greeted with.. A) People who seemed to work there but had no clue who took my reservation(in person because you can't reserve online or get them on the phone) until I described the guy in detail. B) The standard answer for them "everything is cancelled for today"(this s the first thing I was told when making the reservation earlier in the week.) both times the conditions were ideal and many people were out. C) NO paddleboards, in fact we didn't even see any equipment aside from what looked like personal things. In short, if you bought a groupon, get your money back and go elsewhere. Awesome experience, beautiful setting in Biscayne bay, Knowledgeable instructors, Ernie n Camilo r super fun, and after the class we relaxed in a very comfortable boat. Recommended if you want to learn to kite surf and have a good time. read more

I booked online 6 hours course for two. My wife and me took 2 days off our work place and booked the lessons. 5 days before I came to their school/shop and confirmed the lesson is going to take place and weather will be good. All looked great. 90 minutes before lesson as we were at the door to drive down to their place I get a text message they are canceling the lesson today as the trainer is not available - He has a 'Team Day'. Does it look serious business? Do they have only one trainer? (Their website shows many). Do they all suffer from hearing problem on the phone? Beware from doing business with these guys. read more

First of all, Bosely, the company dog greeted us and guided my husband and I into the correct location to talk to Rami. (i think that was the name of the guy who was running the place) Rami was awesome, answered all our questions up front and had a welcoming and soothing personality. Bosely, the little dog was even friendlier, he sometimes goes swimming with customers too. Your guided to the bay and the board is pushed out into the water for you and then you climb onto it....and off you go! I am NOT blessed with coordination so Rami explained to me what the object of maintaining balance was. Unfortunately, even with good instructions, challenge is a challenge. I fell a few times, not in the most graceful way, but none the less had tons of fun. This is definitely group event. Although it was fun just my husband and I, i can imagine it would be a bigger blast with more folks. They do have the most affordable prices in Miami but still more expensive then i can afford at the moment. I paid for it through groupon. If I could I would be doing this on a weekly basis and its a major work out. Highly recommend this place!!! read more

Well, I did buy a groupon for this business. Having been given the runaround initially has totally paid off today. Camilo, one of the owners gave me an appointment for a lesson right here on Miami Beach where I live (originally I had an appointment for Dinner Key, but they cancelled it). He not only kept his word, but he was extremely generous: this lesson was on the house. Camilo gave me a concise intro and then I was free to explore the Intracoastal Waters around the Venetian Causeway at any length. It was awesome. If you bought the groupon, talk to Camilo or email him (see their website); ask the other guys for Camilo's cell phone number. He will take care of you. read more

This place should be avoided!! Everytime I have called for a reservation to paddleboard the voicemail box is full. I finally went to the Miami Beach Marina ..to Pier K..not there. The Miami Beach Marina workers said many people come by with the same results. I contacted Groupon for a refund. This place should not be doing business at the Miami Beach Marina...give the space to someone who really wants to do business and serve the community. I am also going to contact the dockmaster. I REALLY wish I could give this business 0 stars... I should have looked at the reviews for this business before purchasing a Groupon for kiteboarding lessons. I bought the Groupon on 6/27 and called them a couple days later to try and schedule my lesson. When I spoke with the business representative he told me that kiteboarding season was already over. Why are they selling lessons then? He told me that the voucher was good for a year. Wrong... Groupon clearly states that the voucher expired at the end of September, 3 months from the purchase date. I looked at their website that says they also sell kiteboarding equipment. I've been wanting to get into the sport, so I thought I'd go check out what they had to offer. I went to the address listed on their website and it's an apartment, not a kiteboarding business. This was a complete waste of my time and money. I wish there was a "zero" stars because one star is way too many for this fool. Here is my story: On Tuesday, I was looking on groupon for ideas of things to do for my friends birthday, that coming Saturday. I found a groupon for as boat rental through miami water sports but before buying, wanted to call the company directly to see if they had availability for this Saturday, as otherwise I wouldnt really want to buy it. I call and this guy picks up. I ask him about the details of the boat, how many people, etc. I ask what times he has available on Saturday and he says 20 times that we can choose whatever time we want as he has every time available between 8:30am and 8pm. I ask if 1pm would be good and he says no problem. I then ask if I should go ahead and buy the groupon. He says not to buy the groupon and just to pay him in cash on Saturday when we come so he doesnt have to pay groupon. Ok, fine. I get you're a small business trying to get as much money as possible. At this point I think nothing of it. I ask a million times, "okay, so just show up on Saturday at 1pm and give you the money and we will be all set?" He says yes a million times. At the end of the call he says "ok, just send me an email with your contact information and the exact number of people who are coming" Immediately after getting off the phone, I send him an email with all of the details. At the end of the email, again, I write, "just want to confirm that we will be all set for 1pm on Saturday as discussed and to just bring the cash then". But yes yes yes, everything is all set for 1pm on Saturday as we discussed over our 15 minute phone conversation on TUESDAY. So a few days go by and he hasnt responded to my email. I work in an office where you always respond to emails so I think it's a little strange but figure maybe he's out at the beach and isn't really the emailing kind but he said we were all set for Saturday at 1pm so we must be all set. Just to calm my own fears, on Thursday i write another email to confirm. Soooo.....it's now FRIDAY at 1pm (exactly 24 hours before 15 of my friends family and friends are supposed to set sail) and I get a call from this idiot. He tells me the only time we can go out is at 6pm on Saturday for a "twilight cruise", which is clearly not what we wanted if we wanted to go during the day. I'm like "I dont get it, did we not speak at length on TUESDAY and you confirmed we were all set for Saturday at 1pm?" He goes, "yeah but other people called and paid me so i gave your time to them" So i state 10 times that he told me 10 times to pay in cash when i got there on Saturday. I would have paid in advance and I actually asked him if he needed a deposit over the phone on Tuesday and he said no no, just pay in cash on Saturday. So we go around in a circle 100 times and basically he tells me he doesnt care, he is booked up for the day and made his money so me being unhappy is not an issue. I'm not religious or anything, BUT PRAISE JESUS I DIDNT BUY THAT GROUPON and then get screwed. Thank god I actually didnt give a deposit or anyhting because I feel like if this guy would have taken my 200 bucks and someone came and gave him 205 he would have pretended like he didnt know me. DO NOT buy anything from this guy. I am so angry. I want him to get shut down. We clearly made a reservation and had everything planned. I guess he gets my one star because he called me the day before to tell me I couldnt go then letting me get all the way there on Saturday. I was actually going to call today as soon as I had a chance at work to confirm before we went on Saturday....This guy could literally care less. Soo... LIke most folks who have reviewed this place so far, I bought a deal online for half price paddleboarding. Showed up to the marina, to find a guy (very nice) standing by a bunch of paddleboards. Miami Water Sports?? Yes. okay, well, he got the boards ready for us, and we walked down the slippery boat ramp, while other boats were coming in and out of the water on that same ramp. Hmmn. okay. not the easiest point to access the bay on a board, but okay, we did it, we made out off the ramp. Made it out of the ramp basically on our own, since the guy gave us absolutely no instruction. I used a paddleboard before, but my friends had not. So I told her what I could and we paddled on. Had to avoid, jet-skis, boats driving and docking and big wakes. We paddle around, but there's not much other than boats, boats, and more boats in this area. Soo, if you want a challenging paddle around a marina, then this is for you. Myself? I'd prefer somewhere with less traffic, fuel and more of a natural setting. read more

BIG BUMMER!! What they should have said but NEVER DID, "Kite Boarding is a fun & requires skill & knowledge; you must learn several things before you ride a board. Most people ride a board during their 3rd lesson & after spending $600-800." They should suggest protective footwear to walk in seagrass water. I stepped on coral & had 12 spines surgically removed. RENE, the girl who replaced Dominic is not nice, she was scattered, short tempered & insulting. She overcharged me $100 & had trouble doing the math to issue a refund. She told me that she graduated from an Ivy League school & could figure it out. I asked which Ivy League school & she replied "West Point". She was mad she had to "cut her ride short" to issue a refund (our instructor offered). There's more but just take my word for it. DON'T GO THERE, They are NOT nice. read more

I feel ripped off and scammed. I purchased a groupon for a kiteboarding lesson five months in advance to my planned vacation in Miami. I called to make an appointment two weeks ahead of time and was told to call the day before I wanted to go out. I called the day before and I was told to call the morning of at 10am. I called the morning of at 10am and I got a pre-recorded message saying that the mobile customer I was trying to reach was not answering their phone. I went to their listed address on the groupon and found out that it was a surf shop whose owner said they have no affiliation with the kiteboarding lessons, but I was given an additional phone number for this business where I did get someone on the phone who told me they wouldn't be going out for lessons for another few days "due to the weather." However, I would no longer be in Miami at that point so I asked for a refund on my groupon and was told "No." So I walked on the beach back to my hotel and saw plenty of kiteboarders, despite the "weather," and even found another instructor who I will contact next time I vacation here.
