Very nice old world style courthouse. Small, but the staff inside are very nice and helpful.

The biggest different I saw was that back then nobody could use their phones inside the court room. This time I was very surprised to see most people inside the courtroom using móvil devices and laptops. I don't know if it's because this was a business litigation but on the door it was a HUGE sign saying that phones were not allowed... As the experience today, checking in and passing security was a breeze, getting to the floor pretty fast too, the courtroom was sort of small and the distribution a disaster, only a hand full of chairs available, almost everything was taken by the lawyers of both teams, their laptops, papers, printers, etc. only 3-4 chairs empty and I believe I was the only person from the public present. Another down side was the screens and the position of the juror, from where I was I couldn't see neither, so for the most part I had to imaging what was being presented to the juror. In any case I was happy that my friend won the case and in my opinion the jury got the clear and fair conclusion.

The SPCC provides many useful government services for Miami residents…read more The building is 28 stories tall and located in Downtown Miami within 5 blocks of the courthouses. It is the headquarters of the Miami Dade County government. The Miami-Dade Government Metrorail is located inside the SPCC, which is very handy for the public. You also have access to the Metro buses. The hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. There are several parking garages around the building. During elections, there is a drop-off box for ballots and an employee manning the booth there on the first floor. The Board of County Commisioners hold their monthly meeting with the public, who is invited to voice their concerns and questions at the meeting. There are small restaurants on the first and second floors. There is also a security check-in as you enter the building. Across the street to the west side is the Tax Collectors office.

I drove around for some time and found myself going in circles. I parked across the street and rolled to the side of the building where my maps was telling me to go. There were steps and the sign said to go on the other side of the building. I rolled to the other side and still could not find a ramp. I'm not sure if I was even in the correct building because there were signs for the library but I was lost and there was no one to help. Construction was insane. It was too inaccessible for me to be rolling around alone. I ended up leaving without dropping off my ballot.

It could be cleaner and it could be more colorful and cheerful, but it does serve its purpose of being a transfer hub station for several lines. The Government Center station is one of the intramodal stations in downtown Miami and is operated by Miami-Dade Transit and serves as a transfer station not only for the Metrorail and Metromover rapid transit systems but it also serves as a bus station for Metrobus, Paratransit, and Broward County Transit buses. The station is located near the intersection of Northwest First Street and First Avenue, a part of the Stephen P. Clark Government Center Building. It opened to service May 20, 1984, next to the site of a former FEC railway station which is now MiamiCentral. The second floor of the complex includes the main fare control for Metrorail and platforms for the Metromover loops, as well as the Metrofare Shops area. The third floor of the complex is a mezzanine for transfers between the two services. A ghost platform for a never-built east-west Metrorail line is located on this level. The fourth floor of the complex is the Metrorail platform. It is the highest transit platform of the Miami-Dade Transit system in height and can hold up to eight Metrorail cars.

Among his many accomplishments, he was the past President of Richards Department Stores where he was the first to offer employment to blacks in Miami, integrated the restaurants in Richards stores, and extended credit to Cuban refugees. He served as President of the Better Business Bureau, and foreman of the Dade County Grand Jury. His proudest accomplishment was when he was appointed by Lyndon Johnson to serve as Chairman of the Florida Civil Rights Commission. Mr. Walker passed away on April 30, 2013 at the age of 98. For his many years of civic dedication to the city of Miami, the park was named in his honor. In the early 80's the space the park sits on was leased by the city and it held a building that became rundown and dilapidated. The building was demolished and in 2009 the city reopened the park with improvements. Behind a beautiful butterfly gate is a little urban oasis with a waterfall, picnic tables, and plants. It is like a secret garden. It is the perfect place for the courthouse workers and others in the downtown to get fresh air and eat their lunch.
