Yvonne Rodriguez hasn't refunded my deposit after missing my party! She is living in Dominican Republic. Do not trust this person.

I came across MIA Party Creation while looking for a replacement venue when my original venue fell through. While she wasn't exactly what I was looking for, she was EXACTLY what I needed to get through my daughter's first birthday. Yvonne and her crew were BEYOND what I envisioned. They were so helpful and executed everything I wanted to the T and more. They managed my OCD extremely well and gave so many beautiful add ons and extras that I truly know my party would've lacked without her expertise and help. I miss connecting with Yvonne now, but I know that we'll get together for another party soon. :) read more

I am pretty upset that even with Covid canceling my wedding that the owner of MIA Party Creations didn't have a heart to give back my $500 deposit. I came to her in September 2019, my wedding was suppose to be June 28th 2020. The INVOICE says non refundable. But due to Covid 19 which was out of my hands and out of hers - she didn't have a heart to give back my deposit. Every other vendor gave back all deposits without even a blink of an eye because Covid was effecting everyone. Covid was an "act of god". When I had a conversation with the owner I was called "hunny" and was belittled and felt she was being condescending. She continued to make remarks such as "time is money sweetie" "let's not get it twisted I'm done here" and states the following: "ok np as ypi said you will not neededing about services by your choice not ours so ypu officially have canceled our non- refundable contract" Canceling the non refundable contract when I was having a conversation about finances and how I don't have any future events planned. She stated I could use the $500 on a future event, but with the hole Covid has put me in even year later I couldn't even fathom spending money on a party when I loose sleep at night how I am going to put food on the table for my children. I shouldn't have to either loose my $500 OR have to spend more money in the future to use up that $500. Even when I have tried to think of another party to use it up i contacted her about using the $500 she wanted me to pay an additional $300 towards a service because her pricing has went up. I have even helped her with projects and crafts for her events in the past. I considered her a crafty knowledgeable friend. In our conversation via text she even went out of her way to put down the projects I have went out of my way for her in the past: Stating: "The t shirts you made the letters fell apart" "No one really cared for for them" She came to me I went to her vise versa.for ideas and crafts. I feel very upset that she couldn't see Covid as an act of god and she keeps referring to her "invoice" that states no refunds applicable on deposit payment". No one asked for Covid or their dream wedding to be canceled in order to keep loved ones safe. I had to accept that my wedding HAD to cancel. I am IN HOPES that Mia Party Creation can come to an agreement. read more

My wedding was on 10/21/21 and the decor was spectacular. Yvonne completely listened to everything I had in mind and she brought my vision to life. She was such a sweetheart, worked with me, and provided me with incredible decor. When I walked around the venue the day of my wedding I was in awe. She made my wedding, the most important day of my life, so damn beautiful. She decorated multiple rooms and outside with such skill and care. She is incredible all around and I will be recommending her to all of my friends! Best decorator in the game. If you're planning a party or a wedding don't look any further. I had my daughter's communion party. MIA Part Creation went above and beyond. You can feel the love that she puts into it. Makes you feel at home. She does amazing work. Mia decorations was on point and my husband and I were very happy with the beautiful work that she provided. Mia the owner of party creation & decor was very professional and accommodating with our needs. She was open to any Suggestion and ideas that we had, but she also was very Honest about what can work and was can't. My husband and I got so many Complements about the decorations from the guest. I recently had Mia Party Decor decorate the venue for my twin's first communion. I had seen photos of other events decorated by Yvonne and team, and had attended one as well. I must say that they went beyond my expectations! I was so pleased and everyone that was there, or saw photos, have all complemented on how beautiful everything looked... from the center table and displays, the guest's tables, etc., it was incredible! I absolutely loved it! The venue I used (Viana Hotel in Westbury), was just as impressed. It felt great not having to stress about the decor... they took care of it all. I admired Mia party Creations work on Instagram for months. I reached out to them and received a response almost immediately. Yvonne was so helpful in assisting me with a ballon design for my daughters Quarantine Sweet 16 Birthday. We customized a package and budget . It was almost as if she was reading my mind. I just recently had my son's first birthday party at there hall and it was absolutely amazing!! His theme was was rookie of the year, they decorated the hall exactly how I envisioned. If I had a question or an idea Yvonne would answer me right back. We even had a donut wall that was loved by all the guests. Michael the host made everything so simple for us the day of also. My sister in law (SIL) booked MIA/Yvonne for her wedding. She hired Yvonne (Y) for Decorations and a donut tower. The total would be $4k ($1000 deposit). Yvonne assured SIL that the deposit was refundable. Months leading up to the wedding there was a time that Y didn't respond at all to my SIL's texts. Y was literally MIA. When she finally did respond, SIL had provided her with pictures/theme, Y sent pics of what she would do for the party were childlike/cartoony. This went back and forth and it became clear that Yvonne's vision was not matching up with my SILs. That can happen. SIL approached Y and explained that since it didn't seem to be working out and that the $1k given and the rest of the $3k was not clearly specified on the contract (not itemized/detailed), it was best to end the contract and the $1k returned. Y went ballistic on SIL and hung up. She called back apologized. Y stated that she would't give back the $1k (lied to SIL). Yvonne said that SIL could use the money toward another party?  We all shuddered at having to deal with her in the future, we figured out Y could do something for the $.  We all couldn't understand Y's unwillingness to give back the deposit, but we decided that Y should move forward with the donut tower and also provide a "Popup Coat Rack," since there was no official coat check at the venue. At this point, I pushed by SIL to contract with a REAL wedding planner. He turned out to be amazing and exactly what she wanted in Y, but 100% didn't get. The donuts had to be paid for anyway, so we figured it was only a true loss of the $1k, minus the costs of the donuts, which Y was going to pay for. A week before the wedding I found out that Yvonne had decided to use "her baker" despite the fact that the bakery was specified by SIL. It was a week before the wedding, I told SIL I would speak to Y as it seemed every step of the way she gave a hard time. I didn't want SIL to have another thing to deal with. My first convo with Yvonne was nuts. She spoke in circles and froze like a deer in head lights when asked about the bakery.  She lied and said my SIL had never specified the bakery. I disagreed and Y changed her defensive tone and said she "owed" my SIL (no idea what this means) and it could be any bakery. I asked about the alleged PopUp Coat Rack. Turns out, (from her text message), "just a regular coat rack that is put together wen we get there nothing fancy and we use it all the time in the winter the hands are brand new and come in black and are strong not flimsy hangers." I told her to bring tickets/number system, because for $1k I assumed she would be checking coats. Wedding Day: It took Y hours to place 150 donuts on the donut tiers because she couldn't seem to figure it out.  It wasn't carefulness, it was confusion over how to place donuts.  I had to tell Y to use food gloves when during the wedding, she was rearranging the donuts using flowers from the display as napkins to move the donuts around. The one thing Y was honest about was the "regular coat rack."  It was REGULAR.  In fact, we could have ordered nicer ones on Amazon for under $100, instead of $1k.  And the coat rack collapsed in the middle of the wedding. I couldn't make it up.  There was no number system.  Y didn't stay near the rack.  She sat and ate. During the wedding, Y took pictures of my SIL's REAL wedding planner's decorations, card box, center pieces, and candle wall, I wondered why.  She put her cards out. Confusing because I didn't think anyone else would like paying $1k for a crappy coat rack and someone put donuts on a donut tower. I see why she took pictures, for her Fb Page. She doesn't claim responsibility for the décor, she writes "some brides want simplicity" and "we can customize anything to your budget."  Heavily implying she is responsible for the decor. If wedding planning had intellectual property rights, I'd tell the REAL wedding planner to sue. I'm just going to say I take no pleasure in this review. It was apparent to our family that she's attempting to be a wedding planner but is very far from even amateur status. She seems very eager and excited, though then I remember that she yelled at the bride, my SIL when their "visions" clearly didn't align. Also, if you watch her, you see a very uncomfortable person trying to "do" this wedding planning thing.  It's a little sad. But only a little when I reflect on the money lost. Y, to work under someone who knows even a little bit of what to do and stop taking credit for other people's hard work. Take down pictures from the wedding, please, as like you, it's incredibly inappropriate to have them up without permission. Also: my bf noticed that MIA has 16 "not recommended" positive reviews.  It turns out in Yelp's policies, they list reviews as "not recommended" when Yelp believes "that the flagged review is fake, unhelpful, or biased." Interesting they listed all 16 reviews as "not recommended."
