My Mom and I are here in Glenmora, Louisiana visiting relatives. I've never heard of a Mexican restaurant out this way before, so I was skeptical. Walking up it was very nice to see a handicap ramp and a covered patio. Inside it was very clean and the atmosphere was pleasant. I don't remember the name of our waiter. He was a young guy with braces on his teeth. He was nice and came to check on us many times, asking if we need anything and refilling our glasses. My Mom and I both had questions about the menu and he knew the answers. As for the food, the portions were adequate for the prices. I ordered the Chimichanga with chicken and the queso on the side. It was delicious. The chicken had a very interesting taste to it. I was different, yet pleasant to my taste buds. The tortilla was very delicious. I enjoyed the meal so much, that I kept eating even though I was full. I had to ask the waiter to take my plate away so I'd stop eating. My Mom had cheese enchiladas. She said they were very good. We stopped in for dinner after shopping for plants at a local Forest Hill nursery, and we were not disappointed. The large house margarita is delicious and pretty big! I decided to try the chicken mole. It had been years since I had had this dish at a Tex-Mex restaurant in Texas. The sauce, the star of this dish, was delicious in that rich chocolatey not sweet way. It seems that traditionally the chicken in this dish is pieces of bone in chicken that you dissect with the rich goodness of the mole sauce. At Mi Tierra, They made the dish with strips of chicken as one may find in a fajita dish. Still good, but not the way I was expecting the chicken to be served. We enjoyed our meal the service was quick and friendly. We will make this a regular stop when we come to Forest Hill. read more

Cost over $100 for a family four for cold, greasy food. Slow service and the place was empty.

Very solid tex-mex/Mexican food in the cenla area. Its nice to have family owned options. It has a very good reputation among the locals and can get quite busy during peak hours. I ordered a vegetarian quesadilla with guacamole. They arent stingy with the cheese; I'll say that much. My friend had a shrimp chimichanga, which sounds gross as all get out to me but he approved. The chips were nondescript. The place itself isnt fancy but perfectly serviceable. You can expect good food but I wouldn't bank on great ambiance- some generic, vaguely Mexican murals going on. But it's clean and not too visually offensive. I'm taking off one star because of poor service. The server was nice enough but very slowly and forgot portions of our meal. The service and food were wonderful. I was taken there by a family member who absolutely loved the place and was reading the reviews on the way to the restaurant. The few complaints I heard were the portion size(and for a guy I could see that), and the temp inside. I did almost freeze but as a person who's worked fast food I understand!!! We eat here about once a week, as its on our way home from Pitkin. The food is always good and the service is the best. Sometimes I think it's a bit pricey thiugh. But, that's because I am use to paying the "taco truck" prices in Forrest Hill. Very disappointed. We were staying at a camp ground down the street and needed to feed our group. I called in the order for 20 people, gave them my name and was told that it would be ready in 20 minutes. About 15 min later I started to head to the restaurant and I received a call from the girl I had placed the order with. She said that the cooks weren't going to make the food unless I gave them my name and number to make sure that the food was being picked up! Seriously, I was almost to the restaurant and they are telling me they haven't even started on the food?!?!! And I gave her my info, and she obviously had my number if she was calling me back! I order 20 tortas, and I have to say they are the worst looking tortas we have ever had. The bolillos were very small--now, we are from Texas, so that may be why--not big enough to fill you up. They were supposed to come with avocado and we got nothing. We asked for no onions on any of them and they all had onions I had to ask for napkins because that wasn't even being provided. Really, really disappointed with this place. Will never go back. read more

I don't know where these other reviewers ate :( Staff was quite nice, but my enchilada lunch was warmed over from a can. Plate and food were lukewarm, and nothing was restaurant/chef prepared. All of the chicken in the enchiladas were the exact quarter-inch cubes, bean and rice were out of a can, and the queso sauce was out of a can, warmed and drizzled over the manufactured flour tortillas. Don't know what all the hype was about, Salsa was super sugary sweet, margarita on the rocks had to be sent back because it tasted just like lime juice, and cheese sauce on enchiladas was so SALTY that they were inedible.
