I believe that some dishes really define if a restaurant is good especially in a Mexican restaurant. If I had to say a con: I sat on this one for a few, the one thing I was not the biggest fan on was their rice. While it's good it, I also wouldn't pick it out for myself. Like I said good, just not my favorite. However, Honestly, so far I do think they are def one of the better Mexican restaurants local to Kinston. I see a lot of people complaining about costumer service, I've been fortunate to have had good experiences. I have watched from my seat how there has been a few servers who did not attend their customers well. (If I'm honest it's usually the young ones.) So I do think that perhaps focusing on teaching the younger/new waiters on behavior and management with time could improve. Speaking the obvious you just have to be respectful as well to receive good service. I hate a rude customer just as much as bad service. Anyhow, if you're a foodie and have an open pallet. I'm sure you're in for a comforting treat. Local, cozy, family friendly environment and delish food.

There were several servers just hanging out, giggling and pretty much ignoring us. One meal was Sunday before 5pm & yesterday's dinner was before 4pm & there were only 2 other tables of diners. My friend refuses to return food so she just ate what she was given and my leftovers will just go in the garbage. Despite Mexican being her and my husband's favorite food, we'll have to leave the 'lands to find it elsewhere as yesterday's visit was the last for me. The wait time from order to receiving food seemed a little long since there was less than a handful of people when we arrived. The guacamole was edible but not as good as it should be. My younger son and I asked for no cheese sauce on the kids burrito and he got it anyway. Tamales are hard to find and to get them with questionable looking ground beef and beans dumped on them was disappointing. They were okay once I scrapped that off. The refried beans were terrible. The rice was okay and the black beans tasted like they came strait from a can. The deal breaker is when the waiter came and told me he made a mistake. He proceeded to tell me he gave another table my ticket and flashed a signed ticket and proceeded to show me their tab that was almost $5 more and asked me if I would just pay their ticket. He kept saying something about him paying the $5 but he was not saying how and I was put on the spot. I asked him to remove a $2 item on that ticket and agreed just to get it over with. He should have reprinted my ticket and dealt with the mistake behind the scenes.

One thing that really caught my attention was seeing an El Chamorro plate on the menu. As a Chamorro, (that's my nationality) so I thought it was pretty cool to see the name represented.
