Food was okay but not spectacular. My chile reino was not throughly cooked. My friend had a question about the enchiladas. The tall, muscular male waiter with the tattoos on his arms was rude. He was impatient in explaining the menu items and became more irritated when she questioned him further. He should not be working in this type of industry if he can't be patient and polite. We reserved my husbands birthday dinner here, normally the service & food were great however this time we accidentally left a gift bag containing gloves & a $100 gift card. I called to make sure someone turned it in as only employees were cleaning off tables. When we picked up the gift bag the gift card was missing. The manager refused to investigate or compensate. The second star is for the salsa.....the food is not very authentic and the lack of knowledge of the ingredients is a bit worrisome for those who have food allergies. I am celiac "allergic to wheat flour" and Mexican food has almost always been my "safe" option when dining out. I had albondigas soup and was a bit worried about the meatballs since they were more oval and sponge like but was told "they didn't think so" referring to the possible flour in the meat. I went ahead and ate it as this dish isn't typically made with flour. My mother use to cook us albondigas growing up and never used flour. Well I was wrong and the next day I had intense pain and bleeding from my intestines. Over the past decade or more since my first review of Mi Cocina, my dining experiences have VASTLY improved. Details below! So first and foremost is their food quality. Gone is the hit-or-miss quality that I had come to expect from them after they first opened their new location. For the past 5 years or so it's been hit after hit. Their food quality has improved; and more importantly, the CONSISTENCY has become wonderful. The family and I now know to expect good food and authentic recipes. What I also like is they have a regional menu that features dishes from different areas of Mexico. They also change these dishes up now and then so you can always expect something new to try. Secondly, their service has really become nothing short of wonderful. Mi Concina is a family-run business and has been since it inception decades ago. Their commitment to customer service and their friendly, helpful attitudes have made it a joy to visit and dine here. A couple of tips here. Their bar makes some very, very tasty drinks. Their Margaritas are top-notch. Also, if you are in the mood for something spicy, try their "Shrimp Diabla". The Diabla sauce can be a bit of a challenge to a milder palate, but it doesn't overpower the food. In fact, they can make almost any dish with the Diabla sauce instead of their normal red sauce. Came for lunch with my mom. The food was tasteless and expensive for the amount that it was. The rice came with some sauce on top of it which could have gone without. It didn't give the rice any more flavor that it didn't already have. The waitress refilled my Sprite with water and was always disappearing so it was hard to get service. It was during the lunch hour, but we didn't see her serving she was just gone considering we were seated right by the kitchen. So we ordered a car a azada burrito we ask what has inside the guy said only pico de Gallo and meet. When we try the burrito it's the first time a see a carne azada burrito with lettuce inside. We return the burrito they remake the burrito but they bring a burrito looks like a taco that's ridiculous for $10 dlls carne azada taco. Meet taste nasty. The best Mexican food in Redlands lol. We drive from there to eat here. The burritos (a la carte) are a smoking deal and the quality of the fajita burrito is on another level. It was sizzling in the tortilla. The attentiveness of the staff (not just your own server) is also on another level. We crush chips & salsa, and we are never empty here. If you haven't tried it, you need to. Also, it's in a super new shopping center so it's always very clean and nice in here which doesn't hurt the rest of the great things about this place. we stopped in here while charging my friends Tesla. We were so impressed with the ambience and the menu. We got here just in time before the lunch special ended $10.95 for one of four choices, which included rice and beans and a soft drink or ice tea. Nora was amazing waitress.... The food tasted authentic, so delicious and hot. I was really impressed that they had a piece of wax paper around the taco so that the rice and beans weren't sloshed together on it. Came for lunch today with my Wife and Daughter. Chips and Salsa is free and are very tasty. I ordered the Bloody Mary which was good. I went with the Carne Asada burrito for $10.95 - Kinda small, came with meat, tomato, onion and lettuce(no beans or rice). The Flavor is good but expected a larger portion. My Wife had the lunch special with a Shredded Beef Taco, beans and rice for $10.95 which was very tasty and filling. My Daughter had the Cheeseburger and fries for $11.95 which she enjoyed.
