Tamale making time, best place for miles..... for prepared masa!
    Regina A.

Giving this place all the stars. It is what it is a little Mexican market. They have all the good Mexican specialty items. The service is fast and friendly. I went in recently to buy my masa for Christmas tamale making. My mother in law has been buying her masa here for decades I just follow her lead. Her tamales are loved throughout the land, the local land that is.The price per pound of masa seems fair here. The service I experienced on my last trip in was excellent. One of the clerks assisted me, she was so friendly and willing. She really helped me in figuring out a few things I was unsure of with portions and such. A huge thanks to her. I really appreciate such great service. The place is well keep. I can see that some might have a language problem here. I am lucky enough to understand a good amount of Spanish and I do speak some, so I can get by here. Also, the young women helping me spoke fluent English, so that was a huge place on my last trip in. Any questions/need help?, you might consider asking for someone who speaks english. Word to any mexican ingredients/cooking/good food adventurers out there, have a translator app on the ready & you will do just fine. Oh before closing, just fyi I bought a container of chopped green chile/salsa there recently, it was in an end cap cooler. Oh my, get some! Just remember... some like it hot!

One tamale had undercooked masa, two had crumbly masa and one the masa was brown. I come from LA county and I know what good quality tamales and this ain't it. Masa texture was off, taste was meh and two tamales had barely any chicken in them. Never ordering from here again.

Torta de al pastor, no sabor. Que asco. La otra mitad no se pudo comer derechito a la basura.

Horrible, Horrible Mexican Food. I rather eat Taco Bell than ever order food from here. We ordered 2 burritos and one torta. The torta was dripping grease and meat had no flavor at all, beyond bland. The asada burrito was extremely salty. I felt like I took a glass of ocean water. My blood pressure probably went above a heart attack. We ordered burrito de trips and they were beyond cooked and very very bitter, THEY WERE SO OVER COOKED. THEY WOULD CRUMBLE ON YOUR FINGERS. Food was disgusting non edible. I keep calling and no answer. GROSS AND AN EMBARRASSING TO THE Mexican cuisine. Instead I recommend 2 Potrillos on Perris. The worst food in all state of California, better yet all US.

Now that I live in MoVal, Cardenas is the closest grocery store like it so I shop here now. I should preface with saying I only come here for the produce section on most days. On occasion I buy meat and tortillas. Parking is plentiful. You'll always find a cart available. I spend the bulk of my time in the produce section. I've found that their produce lasts me much longer than other grocery stores in the area. Like any grocery store, not every single item is going to be as fresh as the day it was picked. But generally they have great quality and amazing pricing. I have had the pan dulce. I just think it's a tad overpriced at 4 for $5 for my liking. I'd rather support my local panaderia at that point. I love going to the tortilleria for fresh flour tortillas for burritos. They're a tad pricey at $4.99 a bag so I only buy it on occasion. It's certainly more convenient than making it at home. The self-check out is pretty convenient if you don't have a cart full of groceries. I did have trouble one time and the attendant was able to help me once I asked for assistance. Personally, I'm neurodivergent and get overstimulated quickly so I appreciate the lack of customer service others mentioned In all seriousness, I haven't experienced anyone being rude. But they're also not going out of their way to greet you or check in to see if you need assistance. It would be great if they had more than one lane with an attendant open. I've seen it get backed up several times. It could be solved easily by opening up a second lane. I appreciate that they have security working at night. I rarely get my shopping done during the day so I couldn't even tell you if security is working then, but I feel safer walking to my car at night knowing someone is watching the area. I have generally enjoyed going to the butcher here for a couple meats on occasion. I love the bistec ranchero for carne asada, but the price is a bit steep in this economy at $13.99/lb. Today, I went to restock as we were out of protein in my home. I got four different cuts of meat, two beef and two chicken. Two things occurred that really bothered me. (1) The butcher failed to change gloves between handling different types of raw food, like different species of meat (beef and chicken), which I suspect may be a health code violation. (2) The butcher used the same contaminated gloves when creating the labels and handling each bag of meat. All of my bags were contaminated :-( Unfortunately, I was in a hurry to get home as my husband needed the car to go to work so I didn't have an opportunity to say something or talk to someone. So I knocked down a star for the cross contamination.

So my experience went well here, and I'm surprised the store is only rated a 2-star. So I…read morerarely/seldom (in fact, it's so rare that I've only been to large mexicanized grocery retailers about 7 qty times in my whole life) go to a mexicanized grocery chain, but I noticed a lot of food items appear fresher & more competitive/ better priced than WinCo in some food areas. Also, some of the food items have healthier alternative ingredients (kinda like the Mexican Coca Cola soda formula having real cane sugar and sold in glass bottles, as opposed to the Americanized corn or high fructose disease mongering corn syrup in chemical leaching containers) then many of the products sold at the traditional americanized supermarkets. It's also apparent that the mexicanized grocery chains throughout the USA have better local partnership networks among immigrant dominated food crop suppliers of all types: not just the staples. Thus we see a larger selection variety (plumper fresher picks), and less carbon because of the local distance from field harvest to shelf. { Warning: Below is a tangent on what real food quality is and means, Hippocrates, modern medicine and it's politics, and food rating agencies; the last paragraph goes back to a strict Superior Groceries relevancy} This means that the food rating paradigm is wrong and needs to be updated in-line with the new-data evidence that has been around. This has already taken place in highly advanced and evolved countries such as (the many) in western Europe. So quality in some areas is actually higher rated at Superior Groceries than what the FDA and other regulatory agencies even recognize: their rating systems are botched in other words. I wouldn't trust their grocery rating systems because for example, it probably places higher quality ratings on dead processed food (in fact, I know it does) that they consider safe, (longer shelf life) rather than more natural less processed food products that (faster expiration) only now the truth and data is more and more beginning to uncover that these are what keep the human body healthy and disease free because all food is supposed to be living and functionally acts as medicine to ward off disease. The correlation and empirical data is no brainer clear that diseases of all kinds was an advent of killing food for longer shelf life and this processing (that the FDA and other agencies like health agencies) deemed by agencies bent on supporting industries like the Sick Care industry, stock holders, and all capital prospering entities from this misinformation under guise of official classifcation. Somehow the trusted agencies inversed everything to where those who sold their souls for money gained the licensing and reputation , whilst those who by moral conviction or whatever reason chose not to pervert their understanding of the Hippocratic Oath. For they truly preached too "let food by thy medicine and do no harm to one's patient," the real food, that of not corrupting and perverting the food to create diseases and a demand need for an industry niche self-perpetuated by this false information. The victims who succumb to this perverted data they trusted from whom they're supposed to trust, sadly believed these White Washed Tombs to their hastened tomb. They're expected to trust such official entities. Therefore the real quacks and those by real moral perversion, broken moral compasses, and ethical deficiency, decided to "do harm to their patients" and customers against whom they have the nerve and audacity to call their father: the father of modern medicine, Hippocrates. If he is, then they killed him and Hippocrates will say he never knew these frauds just as Jesus will to many who claimed to be real Christians. Back to a strict customer experience at this grocer, Superior. They really live up to their name, "Superior". For example, when I was in a major jam dilemma they had (it was either) Miguel or George the manager and they really care about customer experiences going right. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this store for value, quality, and great management. The management really genuinely cares about how their customers experience things here!! Oh and before I forget, to top it all off, I VERY IMPORTANTLY only received a lot of good friendly neutral vibes from all the workers I came across. Bare in mind-- I walked the ENTIRE/ WHOLE store--probably every aisle.
