Confusing ordering process. I sat down and they had QR codes for ordering at every seat. No service staff in sight. I ordered and paid virtually, then was chastised by staff for not ordering in person. They insisted I close out my bill even though I already paid--charging me twice. Currently trying to get that sorted.

Shame on me for not reading the reviews prior to eating here. I had not eaten anything today and have a long flight to Amsterdam-- I figured I eat my one meal here before the flight and be merry. Unfortunately, I just eaten possibly the worst burrito, ever! Absolutely flavorless junk. I went with the gringo burrito, which was just black beans, corn, roasted veggies and cilantro rice. Nothing had any flavor and the burrito was over toasted. Never again!

Mi Casa Cantina and Micasa Torta serve the same food. They are right next to each other. Mi Casa Cantina is a sitdown restaurant and also bar. The other is grab and go. The food was just OK and extremely expensive. I've had much better at other airports.

Spouse and I are flying via JFK abroad. Lunchtime. Want healthy-ish food, and we recognize we're at an airport. After looking at some other menus, we choose Micasa Mexican Cantina. Computer display menu doesn't work so I ask a preparer who tells me to order at the bar. We both get the healthiest dish on the menu: Gringo bowl. White rice, crushed corn tortilla chips, iceberg lettuce, black beans, grated cheeses, and if you look hard, some sautéed vegetables. That's as good as it gets here. I put plenty of hot sauce on, and it tasted ok. Hit the spot. Filled us up. 2 x $14. Nice beer selection, but the cheapest draft was $14.49, cheapest bottle/can $12.09. Servers were friendly and efficient. Bartender seemed overwhelmed. Scores: food 2, atmosphere 2, location 5, value 2, service 4, for overall score of 3.

Food - bothing stood out from the Menu Service- more like serve yourself. You scan the menu, order online, you remind them you ordered and paid so many minutes ago then they drop off your order without any follow up. Decent place to have a snack while waiting at the airport though, casual vibe for ambiance.

This was probably the worst burrito I have ever eaten. The tortilla cracked and the filling fell out on the floor where it belongs. The rice was undercooked(crunchy) and it had warm floppy lettuce inside. WHO puts lettuce in a burrito? Next time leave out the lettuce chef and add some salt.

$27 for a Ranch Water that was lemonade. Salsa was frozen. Were talking badly about another customer, no idea why.

Only thing worse than the service is the food! Huge mistake. Don't be fooled with a nice sign.

Overpriced and takes 30 minutes, tried to order a quesadilla, paid $17, waited 30 minutes and never got it because my flight was boarding.

The food takes 30 minutes and is bland. Bland food can be saved with salsa, but the salsa tastes like ketchup :(

This was the closest dining establishment that served alcohol by our gate, so we stopped by. It is pretty small and cramped, but we managed to find two seats along the window facing the planes. It was hard to fit in the area as people tend to put bags on seats, etc. Plus the walkway to the kitchen is right there so you feel like you are in the way. Food wise, I liked my salad. Could have done without the chips as I really just wanted greens, veggies, and protein. For $26, it was obviously on the smaller side, but hey, it's an airport resto. My drink was all right. Kinda weak in the liquor and spice department, but fine for sipping. My friend seemed to enjoy his food and cocktail. I wish there were more options in this area of the airport. But this will do if I want a drink. REVIEW #4023

The hostess greeted me warmly and allowed me to browse the menu at my leisure without feeling rushed. The seating was spacious, and the self-serve bar area offered plenty of room. The decor and vibe evoked an early 60s charm, though the playlist featuring early 2000s hits was a quirky mismatch, yet, honestly, it grew on me and seemed to add a lively edge to the meal. The menu was straightforward, offering a tempting selection of chicken sandwiches and biscuit dishes. After some thought, I settled on the chicken ranch, it was ready in less than five minutes! The "Porch Sipper" drink was delightful; I ended up ordering a second, as its flavors transported me to open Kentucky fields, sitting on a wraparound porch on a warm summer day, savoring the music and gazing at the blue summer sky. The experience was truly immersive. And I must say, the staff radiated positive energy, they seemed genuinely happy to be there, which makes a difference when dealing with thousands of travelers daily. Jacob's Pickles is definitely a must-visit spot when passing through JFK Terminal 5.

I highly recommend arriving at the hotel ahead of time and exploring the beautiful location. The hotel is quite a sight to behold- packed with TWA history, designed in that beautiful retro aesthetic, and a lovely reminder of the golden age of flying. Walking around the hotel and exploring the gift shop might have been my highlight. At the pool, they're pretty strict about the timing and the lobby got pretty crowded right before the scheduled time. The pools itself is relatively small, warm, and shallow. We got some IPAs on tap (around $10 each), hung out in the pool, and watched the planes. I was a bit surprised but the overall crowd there. Lots of families with splashing children and people that really just seemed to want to be by a pool and didn't care about that specific location. Didn't necessarily expect so many people to spend money and come all the way to JFK without caring for planes but ofc that's up to them. Just something to keep in mind if you choose to come here. They also don't have changing rooms so you might want to wear your swim clothes or you'll have to change in the bathroom. I would give the hotel a 6/5 and the pool a 3/5. Would love to come back in winter for their apres ski chalet as I think the location is unbeatable.
