This is our go to Mexican spot in town and it never lets me down! From the chips and salsa to the arroz con pollo it's always a win when we go to Mi Abuelito. The vibes are great and the service is always on par. They're also on DoorDash and our food has always come to us hot and accurate every time. read more

On my drive back from Edinburgh, IN I was hungry and remembered seeing a Mexican restaurant when I visited a store across the street from it earlier in the day. The parking lot was full but I did manage to find one open spot. Yay! I was seated promptly and was given a drink with chips and salsa within no time while I reviewed the menu. I ordered the choose 3 combo: beans, beef enchilada, and a cheese enchilada. The meal was very good. The decor in the restaurant was very nice. The servers were very attentive. I was pleased with my visit. read more

The service was outstanding maybe the best I've ever had. The atmosphere was authentic Mexican loved it. the food, My wife got the grilled chicken taco and she said it was delicious so that gets a five out of five I had the speedy Gonzalez get a two out of five. For me the chips, handmade salsa was pretty good, but, would've preferred the salsa to be more chunky and robust. I had the tomatillo sauce and it was lackluster so I give the food maybe a two or one. Probably will not go back. read more

Mi Abuelito has lightening fast service. Chips and salsa were on our colorful table seconds after we sat down. The chips are thin, fresh without a ton of salt (just like I like). Drink orders were taken and served, so fast. Food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. The menu is standard Mexican favorites. They offer daily specials and I had the taco salad which was a dollar off. The salad was fairly typical with lettuce, tomato, cheese and beef in a tortilla bowl. It was a perfect light lunch, but next time I would ask for a little pico for the salad. My husband had the steak burrito which was delicious served with a pico salad and rice. Our server was efficient and attentive. He checked on us several times. The restaurant is filled with colorful tables, booths and lanterns. The place is comfortable. They have daily margarita specials....just saying. Parking is available around the building. Worth a visit. read more

If you love Mexican food and you don't go here, you've made the worst decision ...lol. The food, the service, the atmosphere was all wonderful. The waiter was very diligent about making sure we had what we needed every 10 minutes or so (but not annoyingly) and never left us without anything (drinks). I had a new item called Bill's Burrito, ohhhh so good and you better be hungry! I didn't realize it but it was 6-7 inches long and very well stuffed! read more

Driving thru we decided to have Mexican food, being new in the area we stopped in. We were seated quickly and given some very good warm thin chips and tasty salsa which we really enjoyed. We then ordered their special enchilada dinner for the night which was four enchiladas, one cheese, one chicken, one ground beef with possible shredded, and bean one covered in their red sauce, shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes on top with sour cream, hubby got this and was pleased with the chicken and very pleased with the beef and not so much the cheese and the bean one. I asked to make it an only cheese enchilada plate with no red sauce and only queso all over the top then of course it had the lettuce and tomatoes and sour cream on top. Lettuce we both agreed was very fresh and crisp, not at all from a bag. Very fresh diced tomatoes, I did not care for the sour cream. Both plates were beautifully plated. My cheese enchiladas with queso was delish, our problem was that with all the lettuce and fresh tomatoes on top it made the whole plate of food cold right away. Also we received our water in a large glass with lots of ice which was very good but never came to give me a refill when I emptied it. Another table got fajitas that also looked very good and came out sizzling hot. I would recommend giving this place a try. read more

Great food, friendly staff, and reasonable pricing. Stopped here twice on trips up north. Great spot.

This place is just....the best. I have family that lives in Franklin, and this place has quickly become our "go-to". We especially like to come here on Sunday afternoons after church to partake in their lunch menu, but we've been on Friday and Saturday nights as well. I think we have a permanent residence at this point. My fiance and his family are from Mexico, and they have given it their stamp of approval as well! We took my family there with his family, and we made them try some more "traditional" dishes than just the usual stuff they would get at a Mexican restaurant. The one rule I give myself is that I have to try something new every time. But with so many options on their regular and lunch menu, it's pretty easy to do that! I've had Arroz con carne, arroz con camarones, el acapulco, camarones a la diabla, and various burritos. All of them are so good! I am a big lover of rice, and theirs is amazing. My #1 favorite food is chips and salsa, and theirs are no exception! I've tried at least 5 different salsas from them before. The servers are incredible. I love that they're friendly, patient, and super efficient!! I also love the decor in the restaurant. It's so vibrant and makes the experience colorful and fun. I will be back hundreds of times. My kids will know this place as our "go-to" Mexican restaurant. I will never stop talking about it!! read more

Great atmosphere an feeling, they was quick sat down an had chips an salsa right after being seated was getting my drink preset s pretty busy for 530 didn't see a mean face in them place nobody seemed to be waiting on anything Would have been 5 but the food seemed to sit in the window a little longer than it should have been an the inside was a bit cold Was still nice time give it a try read more

Overall had a great experience here, had been hearing great things so wanted to come try it out on a weekend date. Was pretty busy so that was a good sign but still got sat within a few mins. The decor is pretty typical bight colors and neat hand carved Latin looking booths. Chips and salsa were amazing while we waited for our entrees. The salsa was very fresh and tasted great. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and it all tasted great! I got a 4 combo plate and so did my date. I got a tostada, 2 cheese enchiladas and a bean burrito. They were all just the right temp and tasted authentic. Everything was Delicious, only one thing came out wrong but they fixed it quickly. Would definitely return, great food, atmosphere and the dinner was fun and tasty! Check them out while in Franklin! read more

After a week of packing & moving we were so sick of fast food..... I'll be happy if I never eat another fast food burger or fry again. 3 days of packing up my car and a moving truck and MANY trips up and down the stairs we finally settled in. While I'm ready for a home cooked meal my entire life is still packed up in boxes but we were in need of some tasty food. And I was craving some chips & salsa. So off to Mi Abuelito we went. I ordered the lunch fajitas and added chorizo and my kiddo got the lunch trio burrito. I also got a glass of the horchata. Let me tell you this was exactly what I needed after a long moving week. I did see that they had a spicy jalapeño Marg that I am most definitely going back for!!! The service was great and the food was delish. read more

The whole place looks delightfully tacky. One server snapped at me when I asked for help. The food is amazing.

Only place I want for Mexican . Chicken chimichinga is the best. Service friendly and prompt.

Wowzers!!! On return trip from Edinburg we came across this little gem in Franklin. Started with Jalepeno Marg... this spicy drink was well executed with Tijin salted rim, bits of Peppers and Cucumbers floating in the Lime and sweet Tequila. So good, I can see why patrons out front were just enjoying quiet ambiance. Chips were served with individual bowls of mild tomato salsa, finely mixed. For Entree I went ALL IN! Molcajete... the holy grail of southern border proteins. Chicken, Steak flanking pot with roasted cactus and filled with Oaxaca cheese, Chorizo, Pulled Pork Shrimp and Mole' followed with roasted Poblano peppers. Your should get a shirt for finishing this! Which was full of flavor and with an extra side of Tortillas I nearly did. Don't be a coward... order this to share. My bride got a Chimichanga which was equally delicious along with the balance of the table we were fans of "little grandfather". Worth a stop, if ever passing through Franklin. read more

Today was one of the worst food experiences i think i've had in a long time. The food was soaked with a strong soapy lime taste of cleaning solution. Realizing that this was the same odor as their cleaning solution for the bathroom made my stomach turn. I'm sure the mistake was made innocently, but i the thought of ingesting disinfectant was disgusting. The staff was politely notified, but no attempt was made to apologize or reconcile in any way. This experience will make me stay far away and to warn others not to go here. read more

This is the best Mexican spot in town. Franklin has many Mexican options but this one takes the cake. Their salsa is my favorite. It's zippy but not overly hot. Everything is always delicious and served quickly. read more

Meh. I had a Quesadilla a la Diabla, which amounted to a grilled flour tortilla folded in half and stuffed with small bits of chicken and chorizo. It came with salad, which in Mexican restaurant parlance is lettuce, tomatoes, rice and beans. The quesadilla was a little spicy, but not overly so. The chicken was bland and the chorizo didn't really taste much like good chorizo. The chips were greasy and barely above room temperature. The salsa was ok. The service was fine. So unless this was just a case of my choosing the wrong thing on the menu, I didn't think this place was anything special, nor did it deserve the high ratings other reviewers have given it. Maybe I need to go back, try something else on the menu and be more open-minded. But there's a handful of other Mexican joints just in that nearby area that look pretty good. So this may be a 'compete or die' situation. The place was virtually empty when I went, which was during dinner hour on a week night. I wish them luck. read more

Good Mexican food, very tasty. Service was friendly and prompt. I would go back again read more

First of all Its July25/2021. Heat and Humidity at typical July levels. You walk in, only to be greeted by a healthy serving of cold conditioned air. The comfortable ambience of room comfort and Old Mexican decor, really set's the mood for Mexico's favorite dishes. In my case it was a Carne Asada plate. This is served with 3 flour tortillas. Tons of onions covered the plate. A huge bonus for onion lovers. I personally don't care for onions. Also worth mentioning, is the fact I never ask my server to hold the onions. Unlike some, I can remove them and i'm Culinarily happy again. the dinner was delicious and the service was good. Also had a fish taco. Not the best, however far from the worst. above average bill was 25.63 + 5.00tip. tip well. servers earn it. read more

First time at this restaurant. Very much enjoyed our experience. The chips are fried in house and light crispy and fresh.....so good we took some home! GREAT salsa best we have had in awhile. Lovely Mexican restaurant. My husband and I had driven past this restaurant many times on our way from I-65 south to downtown Franklin, IN. We decided to stop and try it and really enjoyed the food and the good service. My husband ordered beef enchiladas and I ordered the choose 4 option with tacos and tostadas with ground beef. We were both pleased. The service was very good. We have been back two more times and each extra visit has been good. We will be back!! read more

Food was awesome! Great salsa and fresh chips, steak burrito was full and delicious. On the higher end of a "standard" Mexican restaurant. Good service as well, and average pricing, I'll be a repeat customer. read more

Food was pretty good. Atmosphere was pleasant. Service was rather slow for our taste We had a little too long of a wait between chips coming to our table and taking our order. Food came quickly but then again had to wait for the check. We finally went to pay without getting the check. I could understand this if it had been really crowded but it wasn't. All in all a good experience tho. read more

The wasn't bad. That's the bad news. It wasn't really good either. The tostada was anything but toasty. The chips were horrible, small (I mean tiny) and broken, stale and greasy. Last but not least, the burrito was boring. I've tried this place three times. Strike three. There are too many better Mexican options in Franklin. I'm surprised this place gets 4.5 Stars! read more

Came down to Franklin to shop and found this place via maps then Yelp. Everyone really enjoyed their choices. I haven't had Mexican quite like this. Familiar choices were great but with a little extra something. I ordered a California burrito w/beef but received chicken. Wasn't mad as it was great and wonderfully spiced. We will be back! read more

Very nice, small restaurant with some of THE BEST refried beans I've ever tasted. I ordered the Pollo El Jalisco, the chicken was deliciously flavored and served with rice and beans (seriously the best). The pre-dinner chips and salsa were also spectacular. Slow to seat you, slow service. But very good food. Recommend but not highly because of the service. The music is not Mexican, it's more Caribbean, salsa beat. Over all it's a solid 4 star restaurant. read more

Some of the best Mexican food I've had since moving to Indiana from California. You get a lot for what you pay for and the flavors are fantastic. Great place to have nearby. We haven't been into the actual restaurant (because COVID) but when we went to pick it up it was ready super fast. I'm excited to try more on the menu. Only complaint at all is the chips weren't great and just tasted like oil. Good texture and good salsa but not a great taste. Everything else was awesome and we will definitely be going back. read more

Great food, they give you a lot of food. Very colorful decor. We had the chimichanga and the 3 meat fajitas

Mi Abuelito Mexican Restaurant - Table - Mexican Near Me - Franklin, Indiana

This is our third time to dine at Mi Abuelito. Each time my wife and I shared the Fajitas (the one with everything on it: shrimp, chicken, ribs, chorizo) but we order the single portion. I cannot imagine how big the Fajitas for two must be - even sharing the portion "for one" it is more than filling and we even took home some this time. The flavor of this very diverse fajita dish is terrific. They also had margaritas in special for $3.99. Our server said that's a small margarita - we each had one, mine frozen, my wife's on the rocks. They were NOT small and wonderful - no skimping on the tequila! The entire dinner was a little ove4 $30 with tip! Excellent service, good distanced spacing of tables and face coverings for wait staff. Food delivery is very fast. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the state of Indiana. read more

We have been going to El Abuelo in Whiteland every since it opened and every other restaurant the owner Juan has opened! The family and staff are always nice and friendly. One star may be too much. Just a terrible experience. The service was awful. Waited for a long long time for our food. When it finally came it was between Luke warm and cold.
