On September 25th in1998 a director named John Frankenheimer made a movie called Ronin on a budget of 55 million dollars. The movie made 70.7 million in the box office, but I did not know these small facts at the time.
I saw a movie I got hooked on from start to finish. This movie wasn't just good, it was great. It was also the last movie I saw with my sister before she had to go back to The Peace Corps 1998.
The cast of actors was incredible. I don't  like the term actors and actresses to define the sexes, so I just used actor(s).Â
Anyhow, two of the biggest moments in the movie are the car chases where I suspected the actors were really driving the cars at high speeds. Turns out I was right when I heard the director's commentary. The expressions on many of the actors faces told the story and could not be faked.Â
I particularly like some of the more calm moments where Sam and Vincent become detectives when trying to track down Gregor. I liked how Sam and The Girl..." Its Deirdre"...excuse me, Deirdre play off of each other. Deirdre did not like answering questions, but Sam asked good questions that others would not have asked at the beginning of the movie.
The movie had me in my seat and having to use the bathroom wasn't an option until the lights came back on in the theater.  I myself tend to stay in the theater 96% of the time until the lights come back on. Why? Because movies tend to show extra details about movie or hints of a sequel.  Â
My wife normally will get up and leave once the credits start rolling. I am happy to say, I have broken this habbit of hers by 47%.Â
Ladies and gentlemen, when you pay for a movie in the movie theaters, try to keep your asses in the seats till the lights come back on. This way you don't miss all the heavenly glory of movie add ons.
But, if you gotta go, then you gotta go.
Ronin was just a movie that got my attention, it is also one of two 1st dvd movies I aquired after buying my 1st dvd player. In case you are wondering what the other movie was, it is called Outbreak (1995). I still own these two copies and they have the longest record of being in my dvd possession. I will also add I watched Outbreak during the Coronavirus Outbreak when many people were quarantined in their houses a few months ago...how about them apples?
Ironically, DVDs and CD's maybe fading away, (one more quickly than the other) vinyl are still around and getting stronger.
Since I am on the edge of tomorrow in music world, I thought I would meantion Ronin has a soundtrack, but you don't hear to much of it in the movie. Still when you do hear the music, it sets you up for things about to happen, things that are going to happen or is happening. Either way, this movie takes you on a rollercoaster ride and things are not always as they seem.
Once again,
An all star cast of actors and production staff made this movie my number one movie to get. The same can be said with the other dvd I was talking about earlier.
Two great movies and a considering watching Ronin again now that I have just go done talking about it for my review. Isn't it ironic...don't you think? read more
