Visited this branch of A.T.U on 22/6/09 looking to buy some Mobil 1 motor oil for the upcoming…read moreservice of my car. Upon entering, I was greeted by a clean shop floor with an array of aftermarket parts and accessories for the car. I found the oil I was looking for, although for some reason it was the only product with no price ticket on the shelf. I asked a mitarbeiter what the price was in my best german, and he answered that the only way to find out was at the till. So I queued, and I queued and I queued, and I was still nowhere near finding the answer. There seemed to be three assistants milling around, but the queue didn't seem to be getting any shorter at all. Just as I was about to dump the container of oil I was carrying and walk out, the queue started moving, and I finally got my answer - EUR79.95 for a 5-litre container of the stuff. Now I know why they call the stuff liquid gold. Anyway, I had seen the price a about 10% cheaper (although still outrageously priced by UK standards) at Real, so I left the oil and walked out.
25 minutes just to get the price of some oil is not time well spent in my book - especially on a Monday afternoon when they shouldn't have been very busy.
I don't know if there are other autozubehör stores in the Hamburg area, but if not, then by golly someone's missing a trick!
In short, AWFUL customer service, and not very good prices, even by exhorbitant German standards. Avoid if possible.
