There clearly has been a turn around for Meybohm. While previous review may not have been good, I have experience nothing but wonderful things all around and top tier service. On the property management side, we have been perfectly taken care of. Then when we decided it was time to purchse, they paired us with the PERFECT Meybohm realtor to purchase. Everything was so well explained - even with all the crazy laws now that have been in the news recenrly. I gave $2000 dollars earnest money down (Georgia Realtor Meyhobym requirement) to my realtor on July 27 2023. We found a property to purchase in October 2023, but I was unable to close due to a family emergency. My sister had to get an open heart surgery at Piedmont hospital to save her life. The operation was done first week in November 2023. To make a long story short, I went to Meybohm real estate in person today (May 6, 2024) told them about my situation (showed them proof ) and asked for a refund of my earnest money. I received a call from my former Meybohm Realtor saying that I forfeit the money to the seller when I refused to close on the deal. Below is the actual recording from my former Meybohm Realtor on May 6, 2024 at 3:49 pm below: " Maybaum real estate I'm just calling because they just sent me an email telling me that you had went up to the Willow Road office To ask for earnest money back Sir, you don't get your earnest money back. You didn't show up to a closing the lender to try to reach you diligence and also you pass your finance contingency. So unfortunately, that earnest money is now loss and has been sent to the seller. They also sent you a 10 day letter that you didn't respond to so you forfeit it your money thank you have a good...." If you notice in the realtor statement, I did not show up for closing, why, because I was trying to save my sister life, comfort the family and prepare just in case. When the realtor said they mailed a 10 day letter , email I presume, I never received it. My lesson learned here in Georgia is not to give earnest money to any realtor when wanting to purchase a property. The buyer pre-approval letter from the bank should be enough to show that you are serious about purchasing a property in Georgia. Giving up earnest money will not allow you to change your mind about purchasing a specific property without involving or you getting a legal council to represent you in court. HIPAA law prohibits and protect patients during medical emergencies which I will bring a motion about in court. Realtors are not medical professionals with a need to know about a patient medical condition or in no way an attorney of law that could provide judgement for or against a person claim. This is inappropriate measures to justify a buyer intent to purchase a home by holding them hostage if they pull out of a deal and give the seller your earnest money. God Bless read more

I am so disappointed. This company lacks professionalism and integrity. I never thought I would be cheated out of my deposit. The lady that came to inspect my property did not say one word or give me anything to sign. Then she emailed me a email filled with lies and kept referring back to their poor written lease to justify their dishonesty and lack of integrity. Then she was acting sketchy the entire time which should have been a red flag. I paid rent on time or before time and I will NEVER RENT FROM MEYBOHM OR RECOMMEND MEYBOHM AGAIN. I couldn't think of a worse company to do business with. You want to see an apartment available for rent? Be prepared to call a hundred times and get shuffled around for a week first. You have a question about your rental agreement? Be prepared to read a very confusing contract constantly contradicting itself. You want to see your security deposit returned? Fat chance, they're going to trump up a hundred reasons not to give you the money and then try and charge you more than two months rent to leave. I've rented for nearly a decade now and have never been anything short of a great tenant or had any issues with an apartment management company. This is a place of rental nightmare. If you want to rent from them you may as well prepare to donate a grand to their company and go to school to learn to repair issues with the apartment yourself. read more

This is my second review of Meybohm Real estate in the last 5 years. Some organizations do not change for the good. Why would I deal with Meybohm again?.... I didn't ....I actually worked with a different real estate agency. The home, however, I acquired was via Ms. Linling Lai, a Meybohm realtor. There was this beautiful kitchen cabinet left in the living room and a white vase with artificial flowers left in one of the bathrooms. My realtor and I asked about the cabinet. In essence, "why was it there/are they (the owners) going to remove it? I tried moving it, but it was too heavy. Ms Lai stated they are leaving it/it came with the house. The inspector couldn't move it, as it was, again, too heavy for one person to move. After purchase, I hired movers to move my furniture in and the cabinet into the garage for storage. It took two movers to pick up the cabinet. Behind the cabinet were wires jutting out from the wall and a socket surrounded by a hole in the wall. Ms. Lai and the owners pretended not to know the wires or the hole was there. Of minute interest, as well, when I moved in the vase with the artificial flowers had been removed and the kitchen cabinets was now baby proofed locked, whereas before they were not. Ms. Lai and the owners had the only keys before I acquired the house. Ms. Lai's suggestion was I should buy strong magnets from Lowes to unlock the cabinet. I'm now suing Ms. Lai (Meybohm) and the owners. This is supposed to be my retirement home from the military. Instead of enjoying my home, I'm suing. Do not entertain any type of business with Meybohm. Twice bitten, never again. read more

Renting with this company is the worst. They charged me 150 to fix something in my townhouse. Put the charge on my account Sept 23rd and wanted me to play it in full by the 1st with my rent. Since I didn't play it with my rent they charged my and extra 98 dollar late fee. And I was told the charge couldn't be reversed. But I been living in the unit for over a year and they just decided to fix my closet door. read more

I wish I could leave zero stars! I recently moved out of a Meybohm property and will NEVER rent through them again. To begin with, when I moved into the property it was filthy, but given that I had moved cross-country I had no where else to go. The baseboards were disgusting, the bathroom ceiling had mold, the only coating on the window in the bathroom was white spray paint which was already chipping off. The door had damage from a sticker being put on it and the windows were coated in dust and had dead bugs on it. So it suffices to say I cleaned the entire apartment as soon as I arrived. During my year living there I had multiple extremely negative experiences. The owner of the property entered my home in the early morning with no notice and I was not dressed. He didn't have any idea what he was even there to look at. The communication from Meybohm was unpredictable and would sometimes come through email, sometimes text and always from all different phone numbers. I was given notice of some roof work through text, and the work was done a day early so my car was blocked into the parking lot. I had a ceiling leak at one point and the damage, which was reported and "fixed" was listed as damage on my move out inspection. When I did leave, they refused to inspect with me there the day prior, given that I was leaving earlier than office hours the next day, and when they did it without me there, I suspect they made things seem dirtier than I had left and charged me 300 for a "deep clean." I'm not sure where this deep clean was before I had moved in. In addition almost everything on the inspection as "damage" was pre existing and I pointed it out at move in. When I arrived for the inspection of the house I decided to rent, Ms. Smallwood, one of the Property Managers, had already done the inspection of the property. I asked her if we were going to do the inspection, she told me this is how we do it. I've already done it. As I was walking through, I took pictures, so I told her I wanted my photos added. As a retired soldier with over thirty years of service moving around and setting up many homes, I know how to take care of property very well. I entered into a rental with Century 21 in 2017 and there must have been a merger or buy out in 2018 because I started receiving emails to render payment to Meybohm. My rent of $1200.00 was paid on time, every month, never late, and the property was well maintained. In April 2019 I decided to purchase my own home and submitted my official notice to terminate my vacancy on 30 June 2019, well in advance of the required 30 day notice.That is where the trouble began, I was notified that per Meybohm contract that they now had the authority to schedule potential clients to show the home regardless of the fact that I was still required to pay the entire rent. I explained that since I was technically still a tenant I would turn the keys over to them on the 30th. I received the check out list and had the house clean and carpets shampooed per their suggested vendor, (Dura Clean). I even had the AC unit serviced with their vendor the month prior. They would never agree to a walk through or exit inspection. After weeks of going back and forth we agreed to turn in keys and property on 1 July. Meybohm scheduled a open house on Friday the 28th of June and showed the home to approximately 8 families to include children. On 30 June, (Sunday night), i got a call from Meybohm (David) rep stating that he was so booked and that would have to move the appointment from 0900 to about 1000am. On 1 July I waited for David until 1045. David texted at 1050 saying he was running late and demanding that I wait and postpone my appointment. Not going to happen with VA. David inspected the home without me and finding nothing wrong with the home other than fair wear and tear he sent me an invoice as follows: Debris pick up (Orange construction cone and tire on vacant lot next to property, NOT MINE, $200) Smoke detector batteries replacement (never mentioned on pre moveout list, but had been replace in Dec, 3 nine volt batteries: Meybohm billed me for $100.00. Yeah $100. for 3 nine volt batteries. They claim the charge is for labor and install of said batteries. lol. Meybohm also charged me for dirty AC filter unit and AC service, ( they were so busy drumming up bogus charges that they MEYBOHM forgot the AC had just been cleaned and serviced by their vendor just the month prior per my online summer prep request for service. They billed me $125.00). They also billed me for damaged toilet seats and when I showed them the pictures of the brand new toilet seats that I had installed they proceeded with trumped up charges like $45 fireplace key, charged me that was never was issued and proven by my Century 21 move in list that I had. Thank God I had my move in checklist. There were so many bogus charges that upon reviewing their web site it appears to be common practice, especially with departing military. They charged me for installing the brand new shower heads that I purchased, $75.00. I was also charges $55.00 for toilet paper holder, and after thoroughly cleaning the house entirely they charged me $300 for alleged cleaning charges, when I asked for an invoice for services billed against my deposit they refused. I would give this company no stars if I could. We're a military family snd moved frequently, this is by far the WORST company we've had to work with. First we had to rent sight unseen because of military. The listing had one photo, the agent said she would email more. We got the pictures and the next day we sent our deposit. When we got there we quickly realized they had sent us pictures of the wrong house. The inside looked terrible. The carpet was almost ruined and it smelt like a dog kennel. The next incident was when a lady ran into our garage door, her insurance called meybohm multiple times to get the info and they never returned the call. (Geico played the recordings of every time they called.) They also had a nice one where the lady that worked for meybohm told them they have the wrong number and hung up. They then demanded I pay for the door and couldn't pay my rent unless I did. I called them multiple times to tell them that Geico had sent a check (after I called and got the info) and asked them to move the balance so I could pay rent. Of course no call back. Waited over 6 months for them to get someone out to stretch carpet so the tacks would quit cutting my children's feet. They cancelled multiple work orders. I just got our move our inspection and they've listed multiple things that were wrong when we moved in. Honestly just a very terrible and dishonest company to work with. I would tell you to check their google snd Facebook reviews but they've taken those down for obvious reasons. Avoid this company like the plague. read more

Meybohm deserves less than one star. Meybohm took over the property I am renting a little while into the first year of my contract. Service has been horrible since day one. Meybohm simply does not believe in talking to or effectively communicating with their customers. Even before COVID-19 I cannot get in contact with my property manager. When I call the main office their is no answer. They only respond to emails several days you send one and they never respond to voicemail. My wife and I have been clients, as homeowners, with Meybohm Property Management for about a dozen years. We have dealt with several representatives during that time, some very good, others not so. During the past two years, since renting to our current tenants, maintenance issues have arisen, as they will with an older building. Our current representative, Lexi Black, has been very responsive to our tenants' notifications regarding maintenance needs. She has informed us in a timely manner, contacted vendors and apprised them of the situation, and had a bid ready by the time we have been able to respond to her notice to us. Recently, the heavy winds and rain in Georgia resulted in some lost shingles on our rental roof. Lexi arranged for a vendor to inspect the roof and provide a bid with a variety of replacement options, which she sent for our review and decision. I contacted the vendor and obtained the information I felt was necessary to make an informed decision. As the roof was nearing the end of its life, it was a relatively easy, necessary decision to replace the old shingles. When I called Lexi a few days later to inform her of our decision and inquire about payment, she told me the work had already been done and offered options for payment. Lexi did all the legwork for us; all I had to do was provide payment to the vendor. Of the property management representatives I have dealt with over the years (not only with Meybohm), Lexi is one of the two best. She has proven herself to be proactive, intuitive, and resourceful. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this company and especially the realtor Elmyria Chivers. I have personally observed serious ethical issues with the way Mrs. Chivers conducts real estate transactions. She does not disclose her relationships with real estate property management companies up front. If you are listing a house under her, essentially she appears to have already socialized the house with the property management firms ahead of the listing. She even recommends pricing to thwart the interest of individual buyers. It is not clear to me if she may be getting some type of kickbacks or payments from these firms where she advises them of listings even before they go on the market. Essentially, there is not a level playing field in the real estate market when a realtor has been bought by the property management companies. Sad for Augusta. I had a home purchase through them and looking into the future my realtor really didn't have my best interest at heart. They took a commission and I definitely wanted a home warranty paid for by the seller, but it wasn't included in the final contract. That is something they should have brought to my attention. They were well compensated for their work and when I question them about the warranty they put the blame back on me. That would be fine if we want to put the onus 100% on me then allow me to buy a home without paying the commission since they clearly didn't help. read more

I can not even begin to express the disappointment and frustration I have felt leasing through Meybohm. Every maintenance request took me reaching out to them multiple times. I was ignored. Sometimes they would handle it within weeks, the longest was THREE MONTHS before my issue was addressed. They never communicate effectively. Unprofessional. Can never get in touch with anyone by phone or e-mail. I will never lease from them again and I'll make sure everyone I know knows how horrible they are at customer service. read more

Almost four weeks later, the only thing that has been taken care of is the dirty oil container... As for the rest of the issues with the house, I have been writing to them about all of the things that need repair in the house again and again. These were things that I had pointed out during the walk-in inspection. The agent had implied that those things would be fixed (except painting of very dirty walls)...Now, I am told that they will NOT fix things that are BEYOND normal wear and tear because the landlord only gave them a small amount to fix the house. What a slum landlord. Even if it is the landlord's decision not to fix stuff, it still reflects bad on Meybohm who agrees to work with such slumlords. Their handling of the situation also reflects badly on them. And to top it off, last week, I found for the first time rat droppings under the kitchen sink (gross gross gross). I've also found them in the drawers next to the sink. There's a hole in the cabinet that links the cabinet to the crawl space under the house. I called the management company and they called a pest service. The pest control person inspected the house, agreed it was a rat (or rats) and not mice. And left some sticky traps under the sink (for mice not for rats). Today about a week later. I saw a huge rat run near me and into the laundry room and disappeared. There too there's a hole in the floor that links to the crawl space. If my landlord does not fix the holes. There's no way to prevent rats from coming in and out of the house. Meybohm still has not answered me when I called and wrote them about this problem. I wrote them of Friday night, but this is a serious problem and they really should be on top of it. I am so so so disappointed, pissed. and grossed out. It's a health hazard. I do not leave any food or trash lying around the house. read more

Also in all of my years of renting, PEST CONTROL has NEVER been something that has been up to me. Very displeased. I won't be renting with Meybohm again in the future. Anita and Terry Mullinex of Meybohm Realtors turned out to be worst Selling Real Estate Agents! Beware of them and this company! We live in SC & had put up house in Augusta, GA for sale. Since Anita was recommended by my Mother-in-law's friend, we trusted them. They made my hubby sign few documents there only & sign $5000 in closing cost. When hubby was hesitating on signing, she said verbally that usually buyer agrees to pay $3000 and seller has to pay $3000 and sometimes none. So she took us in the confidence. Back then didn't realize but they had made My hubby sign for $1500 in repair cost and 7% in their selling commission! Seller's commission is usually 6%. Not only that our previous agent had put our house for $195,900 which we thought was reasonable as our house was remodeled for most part from carpets, New kitchen, appliances, Deck, Roof, Front Yard, AC, French Door and had put almost 40,000. However, they convinced us to put the house on sale for $189,900. Now for 2 months didn't get any offers. Then when I told Anita to have an Open House she readily agreed. But just before the open house she said we had an offer! Seemed like she didn't want to do an open house. Then buyer came with their bid + $5000 in closing cost. So we said, $187,000 + $3000. She called me back & said buyer REALLY needs $5000 in closing cost. since we had hold on the house for a while & were living far, it was getting rough on us to keep maintaining. So we agreed. It was only later that I found out that Anita & Terry were going only by the signed documents on 1st day! Our Electricity & Water bill had shoot up almost 3 times the cost in an empty home which was higher than when it was occupied by my sis-in-law! After the bid +$5000 in closing cost agreement, now they came up with almost $1700-$2000 of repair cost! They made us buy Termite bond for the buyer. Just 3 months ago when we had another seller's agent inspect the house, they had given us clean cheet for Termite. Then the repair cost was $875 to replace the skylight that had only 1 crack from outside for almost a year but then just before the selling of the home, there was a hole and 3 cracks. Then few $100 to repair termite sheet near Garage ( which was ok), then $300 in replacing bad wood under the 3 windows and some BS 2 way light switch in kitchen $75!!!! I said we will pay only $1500 in repair cost so then they said Maybohm will pay the rest. Oh worst was when they brought up AC issue on a Brand New AC that was within a year. They showed us air leak fromt the side of the unit which was easily sealable by sticking Aluminum foil on its edges. But then they said the Copper wire's diameter is so small that AC is not cooling as per its capacity. So thin diameter is not allowing proper flow of FREON. They said if we were to give house to someone, it better be at least in required condition. Right after Ac unit was installed, I and my hubby had checked and the house cooled down all the way to lowest temp. Few days b4 closing I saw Anita and some 2 guys had come. I had no knowledge about them and then Anita said that they were the repairman who can do all repair work for a very reasonable price and that they get all their housework repair done from them. I said okay but then when I told Anita, I will contact Palmer HVAC who had installed AC to come and fix AC air leak and to see if he can replace the copper wire. She told me a story how a seller got Home Depot to do their repair work and how it cost them so much money. I stood by my decision and insisted that I will contact Palmer and find out if AC had Labor and Parts warranty. Luckily just few weeks before the end of 1 year warranty on Labor, Palmer agreed to fix the air leak at no cost and I asked him to give me something in Writing that current diameter of copper wire is as per the required standards and that house is cooling well. He did and I forwarded that to Anita. However, before that she had told me that if the AC could not be fixed then buyer may walk out. Her body language, gesture all indicated how sad she was for the buyer! All this was just 2 days before closing on Aug 2nd. On Aug 2nd Anita tokd me on phone that when we will go to visit the house, we will find some repiar work things in garage. So we said its okay. Its only when we cheked the house, the buyer had REMOVED A DOOR from GaRAGE to LIVING ROOM -MADE A WALL there and BROKE the WALL near MAIN entrance and REPLACED the door there, FAN was running while the house was still in our name and just 2 days b4 Anita said If AC was not fixed buyer might walkaway!!!! How serious buyer might be to think, plan and replace the door. How did He get access to our house? Even at the Lawyer's office, Anita, Terry, buyer and his agent all played cool did not talk about Illegally replaced door! I used Meybom as the agency to assist me in finding A rental for my family and I. First they didn't tell us the house was next to a halfway home, even though they new we had small children. Next they promised repairs would be done and certain appliances would be replaced that we're deemed unsafe, when the lease was being signed. None of these took place for almost a yr. Then when the ceiling started to cave in due to roof needing to be replaced, I called and advised them about the leak and the ceiling caving in, all we heard was that they would contact the owner and didn't hear anything back for a few days. I then called again and it was the same thing. Never received an answer from them until we withheld the rent because repairs weren't being made and no follow up done by them.I always had to contact them to get status update. I don't recommend this agency to anyone all I would say is stay away from them as they don't care about the tenants and in my opinion represent slumlords. read more

I will NEVER, EVER deal with Meybohm realtors in Augusta Ga EVER again. They have really bad customer service. They have one person to handle ever situation. Someone for maintenance, someone for rent money, someone for inspections. Its ridiculous and unprofessional. They are a rip off with the security deposit. What is the since of taking pictures and annotate on the form items are dirty, needs repair, etc. things I requested to be fixed still has not been fix. It's going on 8 months and still nothing. There's no communication, wrong information is giving out. Oh and there's a 30 day notice form to fill out. Not emailed them in writing like the realtor told me to do. I had to change my leave dates before I left for Afghanistan to be there for the move out inspection that was suppose to happen two weeks earlier. Basically it's my fault I did what I was told. The move out inspection is just as worst. you are being charge for something that was there before you moved in. renters please, please do not be a victim of this company. If you decide to deal with them. Double check your inspections and make sure it states dirty or broken on the move in inspection. Even if it states ok but in the notes it states dirty. They still will charge you just because it states dirty. Do not I repeat do not let them put ok on anything if you feel it's not. They don't even deserve a star. I hope they see this review.
