The flavors were pretty bland, especially compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area, and some of the dishes seemed poorly prepared. For the price, I expected a lot better. The restaurant itself also didn't feel very clean or well-maintained, which made the experience even worse. The silverware was unpolished and had gross spots on it. I have been coming to this place for ten year's and have never experienced the level of disrespect from my server today. She was extremely rude, ignored my husband and my order was brought out entirely too early compared to his. Honestly she needs to find a new career that doesn't include working with people. I will never ever ever spend another dollar at this location. Another server was also cleaning tables and dropped the rag on the floor and instead of swapping it out with a clean rag he continued to use it on the other tables. I'm honestly concerned about health violations after seeing that. I truly hope this business closes after that experience. What absolute trash! read more

The food is great but the absolute worst service staff I have ever experienced in my adult life in Knoxville. There are no words to express. third 12 hour shift at the hospital. I just wanted to have a drink and order food to go home first. First Lady gave me a menu walked away. Finally, another older woman come and took my order gave me my drink. During in the meantime there was a man behind the bar, never ever made eye contact never acknowledge that I was sitting there. My wife and I happened upon this one as we searched for Mexican. We found it to be a great hole in the wall. Service was very prompt and chips and salsa brought out and even the highly sought after chip refill. We both opted for the 3 tamale supreme deal. They were pretty great and portion was just right. I would give 3.5 stars if I could. Stopped here for takeout on our way to our hotel. I called and ordered my food ahead. Overall the food was fine, but our order was incorrect. I had ordered the carne asada tacos for my daughter. They asked if I wanted onions & cilantro on the tacos and I said yes. But when we arrived in our hotel room and opened the container, we had plain tacos. Tortillas with meat and nothing else. And those tacos did not taste good. My daughter put some salsa on top of child. Was too tired to try to go back to rectify the situation. Salsa was flavorful. Also had the fajita steak quesadilla which was OK. Unfortunately the incorrect order really impacted my rating. The steak by itself wasn't flavorful enough to make up for any missing toppings. I think this restaurant may still be worth a try again in the future, but would recommend double checking any takeout orders before leaving the restaurant. read more

Ordered the Perchuga a la Parilla shown in this picture, but we got no peppers and onions - which is the EXACT same error they did last time.We drove back down there and asked for a refund and the hostess got mad at us, did NOT apologize and commented that they are human. After THREE times, I expect to get what I ordered and PAID for. We didn't even want money back at first - we just wanted our dish but she didn't offer that and her whole attitude wasnt worth it. Ordered a No. 4 lunch with chimi, rice, beans and salad and about 5-7 mins later, the cook brought out a plate with a rolled and lightly fried flour tortilla covered in white sauce. When I asked him what it was, he told me it was my lunch. I inquired, "Where's the rest of it?" and he explained that the server said I only wanted a chimi, so he took it back and plated the sides and re-served. Nice presentation - chicken was tender, though the beans were lukewarm, and the liquidy cheese sauce -- well, I guess it's Knoxville style and not my style. Salsa and chips were okay; still missing the chunky pieces of tomato and onion and cilantro leaves. Price $8.67 with diet Coke. Not bad. Yet the search goes on.... I used Bite Squad to deliver my Burritos Supreme right to my door, so I didn't have a chance to experience the great service I've read so much about on Yelp. But can I just say that the amount of food that they serve for their prices is very impressive? I have only had takeout tamales. So far the ground beef are too dry. There is no binder in the meat so as soon as you cut into the meat starts falling out. I had chicken tamales today. The first piece of meat was muscle and fat. Later I got tendon and gristle. I just can't. This is probably normal for some people but for me it is not appetizing. I love this place. I am s regular! We are here at least once a week. I go between a couple of my favorite dishes. There carnitas chimichanga is fabulous! The shell is crunchy and covered in there amazing queso. The pork is always tender and delicious. There carnitas with verde salsa is pure awesomeness. You can taste the freshness is the verde. I always get mine with corn tortillas for a authentic street taco vibe. We also love there scratch made tamales. They are all good. We love there queso, so we normally get the combo covered in queso. When I am feeling different I love the combo. I adore there beef tostada, Chicken hard Taco and there cheese enchilada. The sauce on the enchilada (brown sauce) I could just eat with a spoon!
