I had a great referral of Laura and Walk IT from another local tour company. I had a lovely evening…read morewith Laura exploring the La Roma area for 3 hours. She took me to a couple of very hip and fun art galleries, popped in to a restaurant to see some great murals on the walls, ran in to an artist working on a mural and talked with him, went to a book store, and landed in a local bar for a cocktail. Since I was solo it was a perfect private tour and I felt like I was hanging out with a friend. Laura really knows the area, recommended a great restaurant, and it was a pleasure to get to know her and this area of Mexico City. I highly recommend her.

While I am an uber-researcher, I knew I wouldn't be able to give her the goods like a real local would - and that's where Laura and the Walk It Tour waltzed right in. We started our 5 hour La Roma and Condesa Tour in a back room of La Broka restaurant, where Laura set up a private wine tasting with Chef Cesar and his crew. Glowing with delicious Mexican wine and a taste of citrusy refreshing ceviche, we walked through the bohemian La Roma side streets. The entire time Laura would call attention to street art, architecture, and quirky shops that my wife went crazy for. I felt my wife and Laura bond like long lost best-friends and it made me smile to see her this happy. Another highlight was going through the trendy Mercado Roma, where we sampled some treats (including grasshoppers!), picked up coffee, jams, and salsa. Condesa felt more residential than it's more Bohemian neighbor of La Roma, but Condesa's many parks, tree-lined streets, and Art-Deco structures made it a wonderful visit. Laura set up a private art tour at the Advent Design building. We saw some unique pieces and installations and met some lovely people, including an artist. Nearing the end of the tour, Laura walked us to a special one-day art-fair called The New Society where 50 modern creatives showcased their crafts, art, fashion, and wares in a buzzing vibe where Mexico City's beautiful people mingled. My wife was in heaven. So if you are looking for a specialized, informative tour of La Roma and Condesa - Walk It is it. My wife still talks about the tour to this day and Laura was a huge part of it. Laura is the perfect guide - smart, hip, funny, positive, and passionate. Even though she is originally from New Zealand, she is just like us - someone who has come to Mexico City and through the people, food, art and it's racing pulse - has fallen in love with it.

Yeah, I think it would be hard to get better than this! Queso was our guide. Yes, he calls himself…read more"cheese" because who doesn't like cheese? We stopped at La Tonina, La Casa de los Tacos Norteños, El Califa de Leon Taqueria (WOW!), Agavito MPDL (because tacos are even better when you pause for some mezcal), Tacos al Humo - Tacomotora Tizine, and finally Taqueria Selene. ALL the stops were both amazing and completely different. My favorite? I truly have no idea! Even the Mezcal was amazing. Being from the US I think of this smokey stuff that belongs in a lawnmower and not your mouth. Here you have something different. How different? Can I see the bottle? Well, ...pause... no, there is no bottle, no branding, just extremely small craft production that would make craft beer brewers cry. The other wonderful thing about the tour was you got a brochure at the start that had some history, some fun facts, etc, but most importantly all the places you would be going so no need to memorize them. Yet, if you want to try to repeat the experience you are not going to do that on your own. Sign up with Sabores México Food Tours and you will not be disappointed.

We tried many dishes and were very full at the end. They did a nice job of accommodating our group at every stop. I've included photos of what we enjoyed.

Honestly, not a bad way to get around the city and catch some major highlights. It costs $290 MXN…read morefor adults and $150 MXN for children. We ended up getting our tickets and bracelets to get us on and off the bus. We decided to do the red line (Centro Historico) and yellow line (Polanco) within the allotted time. I liked the red line since it had plenty of stops and nice photo opps. The yellow line also had some nice stops on it, but the action seemed to be with the red line. The staff at the stop we were at, Monumento a la Independencia (Angel) made sure we went to the proper location for the bus. Seeing our limited Spanish speaking abilities, they were able to explain this in English. That was nice of them to do, ensuring that we all were in the right spots. Timing was listed as every 10 to 15 minutes for the frequency of buses, which was correct (aside from unpredictable traffic). Announcements were made for the approximate length of the tour, with extra time needing to be taken to account for traffic. I liked that they had the option of which language to give background information at each stop, but I would've wanted more detail and in depth explanations. They provided headphones with 10 options for language, volume control, and USB/USB-C plugs. Just be careful if you ride on the top and when it's hot out, because it gets pretty warm and you may run the risk of your phone overheating. When we were on the yellow line, the driver gave some extra tidbits of information, but seemed that he only explained in Spanish. Note: if you're on the top part of the bus/open air area, make sure to be careful since it is full of trees and you could easily get smacked by leaves or branches if you're not careful. We stopped during part of the red line route to grab a bite to eat, and when we were attempting to get on the green line transfer, were informed that due to our time (about 5:30pm) we would only make it for one of the stops, since the closing time for the bus tour is 7pm (open 9am). All in all good value if you want to see the city in limited time and for a good overview of the sights.

    1) ear phones did not play very loud. Hard or impossible to hear over other ambient noise…read more 2) They simply did not go to several stops in the Polanco route. After much translation efforts, the explanation was, "we don't go there on Mondays, the museums are closed." However we had other sights we'd arranged tours on at the missed stop. 3) The Turibus website information is inaccurate. No mention of Polanco route changes on Mondays (obviously). We were told the intervals between all buses, all routes was about an hour, depending on traffic, not what's indicated on the website. 4) We Uber to our Louis Berrigan Casa tour, since Polanco route doesn't go there on Mondays. 5) Like fools, we then took the Central route. Again, some stops were skipped. A lot of people were standing at the door, and the driver never stopped. 6) I will not use Turibus again. I do NOT recommend it. Get around by Uber. More direct, more convenient and inexpensive.
