I ordered the three taco basket, chicken with extra cheese. They do NOT skimp on the extra cheese! The cheese was a bit overboard, BUT it was exactly what I asked for, so I applaud them for that. Once you get through the cheese on top the chicken has good flavor. They also were more than willing to give me all three sauces to try without an additional charge. The taco basket came with a bag of chips as well. The meal was hot and out fairly quickly, I'd guess 10 minutes or less. Staff here are always pleasant. I didn't go inside, but the parking lot has always been clean and well maintained when I have visited. After tax I paid $14.07 for my three tacos and extra cheese. Not terrible for the area. read more

I used to love coming here. Now? Not so much. My friend and I ordered the same thing, three chicken tacos. Mine was crunchy and hers was soft. My shells were stale and the soft tacos were overfilled. I get you have constraints with hard shells so you don't break them, but the same order should not weigh 3 times as much. Not gonna lie, I was happy for my friend but also jealous. I made my boyfriend hold the containers to show him, I was so astonished at the weight difference. He got the chimichanga and he said he couldn't place why, but the whole thing smelled and tasted like an onion ring. He barely even ate half. read more

The tacos were mediocre in keeping with the overall non authentic Mexican villa tastes. I was hoping for better but quickly disappointed. The service was brutal with a ex con prison flair. Once is enough. read more

You order up front so it feels like a cross between fast food and a sit down Mexican Restaurant. Decorated nicely inside and plenty of parking outside. They have a limited menu but all the standard fare. Food came up relatively quickly. I asked for hot sqlsa with my taco salad and my daughter got mild for her cheese nachos. I liked the salsa may have been my favorite part of my meal. My daughters nachos truly was chips and melted cheese. The chips were cold and unsalted. My taco salad has chicken, lettuce, chopped tomatoes on a flour tortilla bowl. Not a big bowl but just fine for lunch. I would classify the food as Tex-Mex as opposed to authentic Mexican. Overall, in my opinion the food was good. Not bad and not great. Good change of pace from traditional fast food! My 9 year old daughter liked it more than I did. She rated it a 4 and I rated it a 2.5 so settled on a 3. read more

Spent my last dollar there today. It's a shame how bad this place has gotten over the years when it used to be so good. I'll let the photo of the overpriced tacos I received today speak for themselves. read more

Mexican Villa El Taco - two tacos in a styrofoam container - Mexican Near Me - Ozark, Missouri

Food it amazing also the service was spectacular. Also if you get the beef nachos you will be amazed

One of my favorite places for Mexican food! The dining room is always clean and the combo meals are a pretty good deal. The tacos always have plenty of toppings and the chips and salsa they give with the meals are tasty! The staff is friendly and were patient and kind to the couple in front of us who had several questions about the menu. A quick and yummy stop if you're in Ozark! read more

This is supposedly a Sancho enchilada style. My burrito enchilada style came without sauce as well.two tacos look like someone puked in the box. Best part, is when I called the restaurant, she hung up on me twice. Really great crew in Ozark. I wouldn't even feed a stray cat this S**t. I had to contact corporate, but expect the same result. What a worthless endeavor. Used to be a SW Missouri staple, but after this, I think eating a literal staple would be better. *follow up* wife was violently ill for three hours last night after consuming this garbage, my order went into the trash can. If you value your well being and don't want to have your stomach pumped stay away from this place. I will continue to post until I get my $40 back and an apology. read more

Mexican Villa El Taco - a burrito and a salad - Mexican Near Me - Ozark, Missouri

It is on the fast food side, yes...but to me and my pickier husband this place is light years better than Taco Bell. We really like their loaded nachos and consider them second only to our homemade version...excellent when you are short on time or ingredients. El Taco is not fancy but they're quick, easy, and have a clean spacious dining room at this location just off the exit. I would put it more in the category of local Tex Mex, Chipotle, and a better version of Taco Mayo if anyone's been to that chain as comparision. Tasty! read more

Mexican Villa El Taco - Loaded nachos with ground beef for an extra dollar...huge portion and delicious - Mexican Near Me - Ozark, Missouri

Insanely priced greasy Mexican fast food. If I pay $8.50 for a burrito, I want it to fill me up! The chips were rock hard and I couldn't eat them. The queso was tasty, but not good enough to get me to come back. read more

I realize this is one of those places that you kind of had to grow up with to appreciate, but honestly, the food is objectively bad. As in, Taco Bell is better. To start, the most authentic item on their property is the faux stereotypical Sonoran caricature painted on the outside wall. Once inside, their menu features three main items: A "burrito" that's about 50% Velveeta A "taco" that no Mexican would recognize A "sancho," which is not even a Mexican food item name (and you wouldn't ever name something with that word if you actually spoke Spanish: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sancho) The sign over the entryway claims it has the "fastest tacos in the universe." I haven't tried the tacos, but unless they can slap together a taco about 100 times faster than it takes them to make a burrito (I haven't tried one of their "tacos" yet), there is no truth in that statement. I've been here twice, once when it was empty just before closing and once when it was crowded today at lunchtime, and both times, I waited close to 10 minutes for my food. And for the privilege of waiting so long and my $8, I got a plate with a burrito that was about 7 inches long and half an inch thick and nothing else on it. If you think Tex-Mex is a gloppy, over-sauced, over-cheesed abomination of authentic Mexican food, wait until you try some Ozark-Mex here. This takes it to a whole new level. I hope you love processed liquefied cheese, because that's 90% of the flavor of everything here. Next time I'm on Jackson Street and I need a fast meal when everything else is closed, I will be skipping El Taco in favor of the Taco Bell half a block away. The food there is better, faster, and cheaper. The saddest thing to me isn't that this place exists--anyone can open a restaurant with crappy food any place they want. The saddest thing to me is the fact that this place has a loyal following. That this place (and its sister restaurants in the region) can be so beloved and busy fulfills just about every stereotype of people in the Ozarks that exists--and those aren't positive stereotypes. Fortunately, Springfield has begun to develop a decent food scene in recent years. But that's a recent development. My experience here has taught me not to bother searching out the region's long-established places or to trust non-foodie locals' recommendations. Two stars because while there's nothing redeeming about the food here, it's at least edible. But that's the best I can say about it. read more

Sancho's are awesome!!! Try the hot sauce, we love it. Every time we go though Springfield we get Sanchos to go and freeze them for later.

We recently moved back to Branson and decided to take a little drive and get some tacos. We both got the 3 Taco Basket. It was delicious! The taco shells were light and crispy. The hamburger was good and the lettuce, tomatoes and cheese were excellent. It came with chips and some sweet salsa that we'd never had before. All I can say is wow! Can't wait to go back! read more

Wow worse Mexican food ever! The burrito was a pile of mush, cheese all on one end, tacos were not great! The sauces were something out of a bottle, should have known not good as a row of microwaves faced you! I shall never return, still on my quest for good tasting Mexican food in this area! Being from west coast I know what's good and what's not! read more

Clean enough restaurant, but don't go in expecting something similar to the Springfield Mexican Villas. It's a fast-food, much like a Taco Bell, establishment. Not much in the way of flavor, very bland, cheap food. Even the rice was subpar. $30 for three people to eat and it was overpriced, almost to the point we asked for our money back. We won't be back. I'd have to say I'd pick McDonald's any day over this food we received today. read more

Tastes the same as the full service Mexican Villas in the area, same food. Same portions but cheaper and self service. Hot sauce is great. Burrito enchilad style or three tacos! read more

I blame myself for eating here without checking the reviews and then not leaving when I saw the food others got. I really just wanted some decent Mexican food and this was not it. Not saying it was the worst I have ever had, but the worst I can remember. Rice and beans were obviously left over from yesterday. Beans were dry pasty and had no flavor, the rice had hard parts in it. I really have nothing good to say about the combo taco/enchilada meal except the sauce was ok. I have no idea why people were lined up for this place. Taco Bell would have been cheaper and better. read more

Management change? It's not like it used to be! My order looked thrown together. The last few times we've been here it's been like this. The place looks better, but food hasn't been up to older standards. Come on, you can do better! read more

You're kidding me, right? All I am going to say is...they cook all their food in the microwave. They don't even bother hiding it...they just scoop up your ingredients onto a tortilla, heat it up in the microwave and hand it to you. That is just offensive to every sense of culinary standards, and the fact that they don't even bother doing it discreetly is just disturbing. Are people seriously so lacking in any kind of culinary standards that they will just take that? I honestly don't care that it's terrible Tex-Mex, it's just the fact that they would even have the gall to do such a thing, right in front of paying customer's faces. I didn't even bother eating the burrito. It looked dried and nasty, like what typically happens when you microwave a burrito. I threw it away as I walked outside, and vowed to never enter this establishment again. I've been told that the other Mexican Villa's are supposed to be decent, but I would never know, because I am never setting foot into one. Sorry, but I'm just not buying it. read more

Great customer service. Hot, fast, delicious food! I always look forward to eating at Mexican Villa!

Overall food is good but not great, with the exception of their sancho which I dress up myself by adding melted white queso on top, jalapenos, and sour cream. It's the only reason I go there, but a great reason because it is delicious that way. Prices are decent. Service varies. Chip dip is excellent too. read more

Mexican Villa El Taco - Not recommended! - Mexican Near Me - Ozark, Missouri

We are on the 4th generation to love Mecican villa! Mexican American at it's best! They have several locations the most original one located on south National. I say most original is because they started up a very small place on Glenstone. They had to get a bigger place due to their popularity. I was 5, I think when my parents 1st took me. I am 71 years young and still go to Mexican Villa and it's still the best! They also mill there own corn and make there own chips for all locations read more

Its a cheaper version of the Mexican Villa sit down restaurants. The food is quick and microwaved, but its good food and its affordable. If tou go in expecting fine dining youll be disappointed. Its good for the price and the service is always nice. read more

The food is great! But we are going through a pandemic so everyone is wearing gloves. You wear gloves to protect consumers from germs, so touching money, the phone, then the food, it's disgusting and I do not feel save anymore! At this point I do not know why you would wear gloves. read more

4 stars? Man, you gotta be crazy... To be fair, I am from a part of Texas where hispanics have already become the majority, so I've had some pretty damn good tex-mex food. Perhaps this is 4 star for the area, but I think it would be amiss to convey 4 star to everyone else. Now, they weren't exactly bad... but it had the same feel of grabbing a packet of taco seasoning and frying up some meat & beans at home. I do want to say that this place wasn't bad... exactly, but they weren't necessarily good either. There's gotta be a better tex-mex food place around here somewhere. Also, I did find it strange that the sour cream I asked for came in little packets... I believe the 2 star guide sums it up perfectly: "Meh, I've had better." read more

The service was fine but the food was just rather disgusting if you're traveling try to avoid you're better off eating Taco Bell if that says anything read more

Ate here for a quick dinner and was not disappointed for what it was. I gave it 4 stars because for fast food Mexican food, it is about on par with what it should be. Some of the reviews I believe think they are going to a fine dining Mexican food place, but it's not! I had a taco combo and it tasted better than Taco Bell on the ethnic scale. Wish it came with chips and salsa in the drive through. Rice was ok. Against a sit down Mexican place this place is a 1-2 star rating, but if you're in a hurry, this is my go to for a Mexican fix. read more

My spouse and I picked up some dinner from the drive-through on our way home from the lake several days ago. We have been fans of Mexican Villa our entire lives as native Springfieldians. However, this is the VERY LAST STRAW. We had noticed (at the S. Springfield restaurant the last time we carried-out there) that the sauce seemed wayyyy different, and wayyyy too spicy - not at all the Mexican Villa sauce we had all come to love covering up our enchilladas and saunchos! The food from this El Taco last weekend was absolutely HORRIBLE, AND INEDIBLE!!! The cheese enchiladas I ordrered were not even rolled up, nor was the sauncho enchilada style dish that my husband ordered. I would not feed this slop to my dog! I was actually leary to put it down my garbage disposal in fear of what would happen....THE FOOD IS THAT TERRIBLE... What a TOTAL WASTE OF 25$. The proprietor(s) of this restaurant should either ship up or close up! Y.U.C.K. read more

I always go through the drive-thru, so someone else might get faster customer service inside of the restaurant. I always sit at the order box for about two minutes before someone comes on and asks if they can take my order. I stick to my tried-and-true chicken burrito enchilada style with rice. The food is always delicious, no complaints there. The prices aren't bad either. It's the service itself that takes a long time...and the employees aren't very nice at all. I was being handed my debit card back and the girl dropped it on the ground outside my car door then just stared at it, then me, and said "oh my bad" then closed the window. No lie. I was honestly shocked. She did kind of apologize for it later when I was leaving but it was just rude. I'd definitely go here again for their food. Just on't expect a five-star dining experience, especially in the drive-thru line. read more

It's Mexican Villa, south, put into a fast food format. Same food, just less atmosphere. Drive through gives you a big bag of chips so you won't miss that by not coming in. Quick, accommodating, and friendly, every time. read more

Easily, hands down, the worst tacos I have ever eaten. What a shame. The place looks great, has a good feel, but that food should be quarantined. Cold stale tortilla, dry, crumbly and tasteless beef, and so much shredded cheese you can't even find the taco. Chips were stale and came with a bag they had stashed under the microwaves and tasted oddly like ginger bread cookies. Couldn't even hear or smell a grill going. Just dump some old beef in a sadness tortilla and put her in the micro for a couple secs. That's all this place is worth. Hot sauce was awesome and so was cheese sauce. Oh and this whole experience and tiny meal with my wife set us back 40 freakin bucks. It's ok though, I'll be happy to make an offer on the property when they inevitably tank. Taco Bell spanks this place. I've got a feeling the runs are going to be even worse than Taco Bell too. Ill let you all know with pics later. Just don't confuse them with pics of the food. read more

I stopped into Mexican Villa - Ozark on my way back to Wichita yesterday (9/4). I went through the drive through and ordered and paid for a burrito enchilada style. It took a long time to get my order. In fact, the car in front of me drove off without theirs since they had waited so long. When I finally got to the window they first told me an incorrect amount. Then they said did you have 3 tacos or burrito enchilada style. I said I had the burrito so he took my money and gave me change. Quite a while later, I received my order. I drove off and went on to Springfield and stopped their to eat. When I opened my sack, I had 3 tacos, not the burrito that I had ordered and paid for. I called the manager, Eric. He told me they knew that had given me the wrong thing just as I drove out. He said to come back and they would correct it. I explained that I was in Springfield on my way to Wichita so wasn't going to come back. He said, we'll write your name in a book and you can come back in within 30 days with the receipt and we'll replace it. Again I said I was from Wichita and wouldn't be coming back within 30 days. Maybe they could mail me a check. He said oh they couldn't do that. I'm very disappointed in this Mexican Villa. Obviously, I won't be going back there and will suggest to friends that maybe they should skip this location when considering Mexican Villa. read more

From the outside you would think that you'd be going to a really nice place to eat but you walk inside and you're very disappointed. The food was bland and the environment not inviting. Also for the price you pay, the food and service are definately not worth it. Won't be going back! read more

Wasn't bad, looks nicer from the outside than it is. They do cook in the microwave, and right in front of you which is weird. We all got the 3 taco combo which appeared to be the most popular. Absolutely wonderful food!!! I'm a huge fan of this fast mexican food restaurant. Their sanchos, cheese dip, and tacos are always amazing. In fact, I haven't had a single thing I don't like there. However, the service is absolutely horrid. If you go through the drive thru, do not expect it to be fast whatsoever, very slow service. Also, they close at eight, and I've actually been kicked out of there at 8:30 with them stating that they needed to start cleaning the front of the store, even though the front of the store didn't close for another hour and a half. I was blown away, and pretty ticked off. Very unfriendly staff, also not very professional looking, but what can you expect from a fast food restaurant? I would just like to receive my food from someone who looks like they've bathed in the last two weeks. If you are looking for some mexican (that's not sit down only), head on over to El Taco. Even with the problems I've had with the employees, I still go back because their food is just that good. read more
