With Mexican chefs that understand the heart of Mexican fare, this restaurant strays from the more common Tex-Mex stereotypes experienced elsewhere. When I first arrived for my dinner, I was taken by the beautiful central chandelier and how well the restaurant design incorporated the Mexican aesthetic. I was welcomed by an extremely friendly waiter, who was more than happy to explain the menu and recommend dishes. I opted to try pork tacos with grilled pineapple, and fresh octopus with avocado, cucumber and radish in salsa macha. Talk about wowing me from the start! Grilling the pineapple brought out an extra layer of sweetness that tenderized the pork even more, for melt-in-your-mouth juiciness. The creamy avocado with fresh cucumber and spicy radish paired great with the octopus, and I couldn't wait for my next course! Upon recommendation from the waiter, I tried the tender lamb, which was slow cooked for 5 hours and wrapped in banana leaves. Perfectly seasoned with a variety of herbs and spices! I'm happy I listened! I can never pass up churros with chocolate sauce, as they piqued the interest of my sweet tooth. To finish the meal, I enjoyed a biscuit covered in sweet potato puree, cream cheese with cinnamon, ice cream and caramelized peanuts. Never before has my palate been so delighted by as combination of flavors. I love Mexican food, and was delighted to find this charm! To dine here is a true gastronomical experience, partaking in a fusion of tradition cultural cuisine with modern day flair. I'd highly recommend a dinner here during a night out, as the service, food, and atmosphere can't be beat.

Well executed and true to the variety and different regions that represent Mexican cuisine. I had the fish and my husband the carnitas, as well as guacamole. The menu is a mish-mosh of some classic Latin ingredients like ground chorizo or avocado with some imposters like hard taco shells or ham & cheese empanadas or nachos. Taking this into account, they do offer a variety of fairly-priced small bites & were open all day during a bank holiday (hard to find in Milan). Also, the place is like a food truck with a roof, so there's not a lot of space to get comfy; 4 stools at a counter against the wall. The food was not bad. The empanadas were flavorful & the tacos were good. The carnitas is cooked in a sweet n savory sauce which threw us off but it was good enough to finish. We originally went in for the advertised jalapeños rellenos but they were out. We think we were overcharged; we weren't sure because the menu doesn't clearly state the prices for the tacos. It just says "starting at 2€". I would have given them an extra star because the food wasn't terrible & prices were good BUT more importantly, the gentleman who we paid at the register, who handled our cash, who texted on his phone for a while, was the same person who also prepared/cooked/served our food without washing his hands or wearing gloves. He handled the raw ingredients then handled the taco shells, etc. Everything happened so fast that I didn't say anything. Food safety doesn't seem to be a gigantic priority in a lot of restaurants around the city but I don't want to be reminded when I'm standing right in front of you watching what you're doing & I see you have all the time in the world to take 15 seconds to wash your hands. If I should return, I'll be ready to remind him I don't want Ecoli today.

TOURISTS BEWARE! This review is strictly about the service…read more We did not get a chance to try their food. We arrived at around 7:40PM on a Tuesday. Before we were seated the hostess had a 5 minute conversation with the waitstaff as we stood around awkwardly waiting to be seated. For the record we don't speak Italian. There was not a SOUL inside the restaurant. Not a single table was occupied. There were 4-5 wait staff present. They sat us in a tiny corner next to the glass door entrance. The waitstaff was milling around as we looked at the menus. 15 minutes later (not exaggerating) no one came to take our order, offer water or even say hello. They looked annoyed that we were there. I motioned to a waiter and pointed to the menu. He looked mad that we interrupted whatever he was doing. We got up and left! I don't know if they don't like tourists, or the fact that we don't speak Italian. We never got an explanation nor do we care to find out. Take this for what it's worth. This restaurant is it in the main touristy area. Perhaps they don't want to be bother with foreigners. Do Not Go!

Though many are the ethnic food stores popping up like mushrooms after as storm, Kathay still has the most prominent and extensive collection of ethnic ingredients. Why should I travel all this way to Chinatown to get spices for my meals? Because this market has fresh roots, spices, veggies, fruits, blends, teas, pots sodas and plenty more. Do you need cilantro? Here you can get a good size bunch for a decent price. Looking for ginger roots to mix in your infusion? Fresh and fairly priced. How about some fresh curcuma roots? They got them. What is more, the store is subdivided by country (Japan, Vietnam, China, Bangladesh... to name a few). They have quite the collection of South American products as well. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. NOT the friendliest but still very efficient. So, when hunting for hard to find ingredients, don't give up all hope till you have tried here.

They not only sell canned and preserved products, but also fresh produce, fruits, veggies and mushrooms. The biggest sections are of course dedicated to the chinese and japanese cuisines, with sauces, pastas, seaweeds, teas and frozen goods (mochi! and natto!). They also sell rice cookers and other exotic kitchenware. The prices vary, but it's never over-expensive. For luxury goods like matcha, however, you won't find a good one here, for that I still count on shippings from Japan. They have a ceramics section with many beautiful cups and plates on display, and every once in a while they put some them on sale, so that's another good side of Kathay.
