This place is in a great spot set among old warehouses that have been converted into several inviting restaurants and bars. I just wish the food and service were as inviting as the historic building.
We were in the mood for something different and were draw in by their description of "Authentic Mexican food"
We started out with the Chips with guacamole and pico de galo. The chips were a bit stale (with the humidity) and the pico quite bland (maybe cilantro doesn't grow in NZ?). We ordered a couple of traditional margaritas-clearly made with real lime juice (and not a mix-so far so good) but by far too tart. We next tried the Prawn croquettes -could not find or taste any bits of shrimp just potatoes. They were very warm with a great crunchy coating but a bit bland.
At this point, disappointed by the margaritas we switched to Rose wine (quite good) and ordered fish tacos for dinner. Served in a corn tortilla, an order consists of two tacos. The fish was good, although over powered by an unexpected sauce that included green olives. Maybe it's just me but haven't before encountered green olives as a taco coating.
Was hoping for a better meal, but for me, this was just ok-and not what I Would term Authentic Mexican. read more
