Sad to update my review Charlie and I came here for years when Dr. Tony was the vet. We both loved Dr. Tony for his professionalism and passion for animals. Upon our last visit we learned Dr. Tony has since left the practice and we noticed a huge difference-- but I was open to giving the new vet a chance, thinking maybe he was having a bad day that day and it was just a bad first impression. This weekend, Charlie had a stomach bug so I took him to the emergency vet on Sunday. On Monday I called the vet office and asked if the vet could give me a call as Charlie was acting extremely lethargic after leaving the ER and I wasn't sure if this was normal or if Charlie should come into the vet office. I was told the vet would give us a call in the morning and early afternoon at the latest. I called back around 2PM as I still hadn't heard from the vet, and this time I was told he would be contacting us within an hour. The vet never called or reached out. It's just transparent to us that this new vet is not passionate for his practice and patients the way Dr. Tony was. Thankfully today Charlie seems to feel a little better. Almost all of our friends are directing us to GoldenHeart in Windermere. Excited to give them a try, but it's definitely sad to leave the office we've been visiting for years. read more

The vet techs here are fantastic. However, Dr. Donastorg is very clearly interested only in making money and not in the animals. He never once pet my cat or used her name and spent half the (very short) visit questioning my choices. He also scolded the vet tech in my presence and told her she wasn't doing her part right. I brought my cat here for a check up, and was handed a treatment plan that was almost $700. For a check up and vaccines. I very quickly nixed half the things on the plan and was then scolded by the vet for not doing all of the things. For reference, she is a very healthy, happy girl and just needed a regular check up and up to date vaccines. Do not recommend. read more

I scheduled my dog to come in because he was having stomach pain for a while and as I'm explaining to the doctor his symptoms she completely ignores my concerns and thought she knew my dog Better than me . Now my dog is dead and it could have been completely avoided if the doctor would have listen to my concerns... don't recommend this place . They just want money . read more

Too many treats given to your dog to butter you up. Then they try to milk you for ever dime possible. They wouldn't give my dog a shot without a seditive costing a mint. My dog stopped breathing several times during the day then I got him to throw up what looked like a tide pod as well as other pills. Afterwards they keep calling my wife at her hospital emergency only number trying to sell her stuff causing the hospital needless interruptions. We had to take him to another vet for shot regiments and start all over. They had no problem giving him his shots whatsoever. Cost is a fortune, almost lost my dog, almost had to change phone numbers, and had to start shots over. read more

They called on Friday to cancel a week long boarding for our dog for the following Monday! Who does that? The girl said she was just looking at his records and said he needed a shot and they would have to wait 7 days after the shot. This was the first time I ever heard them mention this and had made the reservation three weeks prior. If I had known we could have easily done this. Ever since Dr Callahan left, this place has become awful! read more

Overall I'm not happy with my visit and saw it as a waste of time and money, had hope they'd be able to answer all of my questions but unfortunately it seemed like they continuously walked around my question and just wanted money. Repeatedly asked them if they could look inside my cats ear which they basically refused to do and kept giving me "maybe" or "probably" as answers. How many times do I have to say could you look in his ear to basically get a no in response even though it's obvious his ear is bothering him. Only focusing on one of his problems that we're worried about a couldn't even give me straight answers or any insight on his issues. And being charged $7 for equipment disposal when you failed to collect urine and are having us collect the urine instead is crazy to me, pretty sure any being would be upset with having their pee collected by being stabbed. Long story short I'm frustrated and dissatisfied with the visit, overall we will not be coming back. All that money for basically nothing. read more

Since the sale of the business from the private vet (Dr. Callahan and his wife) who once owned the business, MetroWest Veterinary Clinic off Hiawassee in Orlando has eroded in their customer service. While the vets themselves may be competent, the staff is not and the staff has a propensity to be dismissive when pressed about relevant questions relating to the service of your pet and in my personal experience, the staff has the propensity to exhibit bad professional behvior. I could go into more, but that would not be appropriate in this public forum. Read the rest of the other comments here on this page about this place. After 24 years of going to Metrowest Vet Clinic and after 5 animals being seen by one of the vets, we were in an emergency situation this morning with a special needs dog to fill a prescription from our vet yesterday - we had the detailed information from her exam with a prescription for heart medicine and they refused to see her without a checkup and additional blood work - all we needed was the heart medicine filled from our prescription in hand and they would not fill it. I proceeded to obtain all of our pet records and will be seeing Dr. Shah from Grand Oaks Pet Hospital for future pet appointments. Very discouraging and disappointing! Especially since we had a prescription in hand from an alternate vet for our special needs dog. Don't go there and they are extremely expensive given alternate pet care in the area. read more

MetroWest Vet Clinic has been serving MetroWest and even Greater Orlando for almost 30 years. Our family has been taking our 4 legged family members to Dr. Phil since I was a teen and I've always taken mine to him as well. The love and care that they (really we all receive from not just Dr. Phil) but the entire staff is absolutely unmatchable and what makes going there such an amazing experience even in the hardest of time. Dr. Phil doesn't candy coat the truth, he doesn't lie about what you are facing with your animals... he also presents you with options. I just can't say enough about MetroWest and their entire staff! If your pups are as much a part of your family as mine are, I'd highly recommend Phil. He will work and work until he finds out what is going on with you loved one! read more

I took my dog in for the very first time. He needed some shots and a test for an eye operation. It started as soon as we walked in. 20 mins to check in and the woman at the front desk kept calling my male dog "Daffodil" I had to correct her twice. I gave her the information from my Ophthalmologist and it was thrown by the side, not even placed in the file. I was the first person in the office and placed in a room, where we waited a further 15 mins. A tech came in an took his vitals and wanted to take him away. I told her I would prefer everything was done in the room. The Vet finally came in and examined him for all of 3 mins. She made me feel like garbage for everything. I adopted this dog from OCAS a year ago, emaciated, dental and many more problems. She wanted to know why he had a little tartar. He is a Poodle, they are renowned for tartar and I told her he had had his teeth cleaned 9 months ago, he was scheduled for another in 3 mths and again that was the tip of the iceberg. She wanted to do a slew of tests, she did not ask me if I agreed until I stopped her and started questioning her. She told me she would be back, another 10 mins before she came back. Then she insisted he be taken into the back after I said I wanted everything done in the room. I reluctantly agreed. When I got the bill, I was floored! $45 for a rabies vaccine, that is $5-$20 everywhere else. $80 office visit and $230 for a test that the Ophthalmologist had quoted $180. TWO HOURS and $420.00 later I walked out completed frustrated. Days went by and I hadn't heard anything. The Ophthalmologist was waiting for the test results so we could move forwarded with ab operation. Metrowest could not be bothered forwarding the results. Their office had to call for results. The Ophthalmologist office called me to tell me they couldn't move ahead with the operation as my dog had an issue that had to be addressed. I called Metrowest Veterinarian a total of SEVEN times requesting test results. I was told some one would call me back each call, same day. No call has ever been received. It is now more than TWO WEEKS later, my dog still has something wrong and they won't tell me. I am going to have to pay to retest everything, with my old vet who I only went or MW Vet because it was close to home and recommended. NEVER EVER AGAIN! I'll take the 25 min drive to my old vet. IF YOU ARE THINKING OF GOING HERE DON'T! read more

AVOID!!!!!! Since Dr Callahan sold his practice, it has gotten horrible. We were in Miami on Monday (3/13/23) going on a cruise. We were on the cruise ship about to leave when our dogs boarded called to say that one of our dogs was throwing up and had blood in the throw up. We called Metrowest Vet, and they would not see our dog. Had no room for an emergency and didn't care. No compassion. No cares. Front desk was atrocious. If you care about your pet, steer clear of these guys because when you are in a pinch, they will not help and do not care. read more

I've been taking my cat here for 10 years, Dr Callahan was amazing! But now that he retired, the vet that took over (Dr Jenkins) wouldn't listen to a thing I said about how he reacts. For example, I was trying to tell her that he gets more freaked out and panicky when he is completely covered, but she still insisted on having him completely wrapped while she was checking him. The poor guy was shaking when his head was covered. He wouldn't have been as bad if she just listened to me about his temperament. Then mentioned something about his gums but didn't go into detail on what needs to be done. I have zero trust in her and am actively looking for another place to take him...DR CALLAHAN WHERE ARE YOU? I will say I didn't see any of the problems mentioned about the front staff. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. (and Whitney H. How about giving a more personal response on here instead of cutting and pasting "We are a trusted veterinary hospital delivering quality service, and thank you for choosing us over the years. We review every client experience closely to promptly address concerns. " 'Trusted' really? Not anymore!) read more

Magic was having constant UTI's and was overweight. They told me that Magic was diabetic and needed insulin and special food. In search of a 2nd opinion, I called a holistic vet and she said to switch Magic from dry food to wet food. It fixed ALL her problems. She lost weight. No more UTI's. She no longer cries when she uses the bathroom. She is really hydrated (3 ounces of water twice a day). She was no longer able to digest the dry food. Metrowest Vet didn't even suggest this an option. Just high priced food and constant medication. I am no longer confident in their abilities or willingness to treat Magic. I took her in for this ear infection and I was the one that found out the blood was coming from a cut and not the inner ear. I treated with Neosporin Anti-Itch and pain relief and healed the ear. I am not sure how they didn't see it. They were not even willing to look at Magic when I called today. They are blaming everything on a deep ear polyp without even looking. There has to be way to treat the itching. That is why she is bleeding. She is cutting her ear with her claws. The ear smells like death. I told the doctor I would be seeking a 2nd opinion and switching vets. read more

Dr. Tony was amazing when I brought my dog in for a limp! This was my first time at the clinic and I plan to continue to bring my dog here as they are so friendly & take all the time you need to answer whatever questions you have. This veterinary clinic was recommended by the rescue group we got our shiba inu from. It's 15 minutes drive from our house, located in the Metrowest area. We had to bring our shiba here for heart worm treatment and removing a mast cell tumor on her paw. The staffs are super friendly and professional, the office is very neat and clean. Every time we go there for an appointment, we are seen on time and never had to wait for more than 5 minutes. They don't try to up sale or over charge anything that my dog didn't need. Which is why we love this vet office so much. My shiba didn't like going to the vet, but she definitely likes the staffs there. read more

Dr Callahan and the staff at MVC are great with my dog, Paisley! She's always very hesitant upon arrival but with some coaxing (usually with treats!), she gets more and more comfortable during each visit. Thank you for loving on my dog as much as I do! read more

I called to get a price for a medication and they refuse to give any prices without an examination. Ridiculous.

I take my dog to MVC and they treat her like a princess. I once boarded her there for a few days and they sent me photos each day to see how she was doing, I have no complaints. Since my first review was taken down because the vet said it didnt happen to me. Here it is again, My partner took our dog here and in return received 3rd degree burns. No explanation was given and months later she has permanent scars. When we called to get vet records so we could move the vet in turn decided to deny us the records due to a bad review. So yes my review is within yelps guidelines due to the fact that your business is affecting the animal that I cuddle with on a nightly basis and who's records we need to complete our move! read more

After my dog ruptured her Cranial cruciate ligament, I was referred to Dr. Callahan by the Emergency Vet. who said he wouldn't take his dogs anywhere else. I couldn't have been happier with Dr. Callahan and his staff. Dr. Callahan is extremely thorough and gentle. Our dog loves him. Dr. Callahan performed surgery on our dog's leg to help correct her torn CCL. He did a wonderful job and we continue to visit his office for our regular visits despite the fact that we live downtown and it's a 30+ minute drive (and there are plenty of other vets who are closer). I would drive to Tampa to see Dr. Callahan. He is the best vet we've ever had. I highly recommend!!! read more

I have been taking my dogs to Metrowest Vet clinic and Philip Callahan for over 20 years and have experienced a large variety of veterinary services at this clinic: annual checkups, dental cleanings, multiple surgeries (tumor excision, neutering, liver biopsies), and several emergent visits like the time one of my dogs ate a nylon stocking! Two of my dogs are certified therapy dogs and they require a lot of "maintenance" and wellness visits. I have ALWAYS received exceptional care and service and the clinicians/support staff have always treated me with respect and compassion. My most recent visit (3/5/16) was a wellness visit to show Dr. Callahan an orthotic device that was designed up in Gainesville for one of my dogs. Dr. Callahan loved the design of the device and he thought it was the best current option for my dog's unique spinal injury/fracture. This is one of the reasons why I love Dr. Callahan. He is extremely flexible and open minded and I always feel like my opinion matters and that I am included in the decision making process. When I told him about this idea via email, he was very supportive and encouraged me to run with it. I consider myself to be a "high maintenance" client - I ask lots of questions, I expect a high level of communication and I have a strong desire to know what all my treatment options are before I opt for a specific course of treatment. Working with a veterinarian who has a similar mindset is the only option for me. read more

Dr. Callahan is amazing! We wouldn't take our pets anywhere else. They are always able to get us an appointment right away and they really seem to care about our animals.
