Their department is also very unhelpful as far as helping students graduate and suggesting courses. I have some good experiences to but unfortunately those outweigh those.

As an alum, I couldn't be more proud to see how it's grown in the last few years. During my undergrad years in the early to mid 2000s, I spent my time bumping between classes, buildings and, for a while there, majors. There was always a friendly face, it seemed, willing to strike up a conversation in front of the student center or library or just waiting outside of a classroom. Back then, UNO was easing out of being an urban commuter campus. The first rounds of dorms had been built and the campus was just starting to come to life with around-the-clock amenities. Still, the school was entrenched in Division II sports, living in the shadow of UN-L and the Huskers just a few miles away in Lincoln. Now, UNO has a full fledged D-I sports program, riding high off of the hockey team's first appearance in the Frozen Four. Both the Dodge Street and Pacific Street campuses are rapidly filling in parking lots with new educational, administrative, recreational and residential buildings, anchored on the south end with Aksarben Village and the soon-to-be-opened Baxter Arena. At the end of my time at UNO, I wound up with an English degree and a great job shortly after graduating. I couldn't ask for much more than that. Funny thing, as good as I had it, there's no better time than right now to be a Mav!

I recently attended a training series at the MCC culinary institute building as well. The parking was very straightforward and easy to get to, in multiple areas. There are stairs and ramps so easy to get around no matter your needs. Inside the culinary institute, the building was nice and kept up very well. They have flyers for events, and I know they have a restaurant there too. We had our food provided by the students and staff at the culinary institute and wow, it was great! We had blueberry muffins and fruit for snack and a taco bar with homemade tortillas, salsa verde, and pickled onions to name a few of the things I really enjoyed. There was also a cinnamon cheesecake for dessert. The staff was very quick to put the food out and collect dishes, it was a great experience.

There were 5 trucks along with several other vendors inside the main building. The facility and bathrooms were well-maintained. The campus was also impressive for what they offer. The parking lot was plentiful, however some patrons were lousy with parking their vehicles within the lines. This is usually a yearly event and the place was sold out of tickets which did not surprise me. Overall, a nice event at a wonderful facility that offers great opportunities for the community of North Omaha.

False advertisement - really. I took a night course there that was supposed to be "Egyptian…read moreSpoken Arabic" . By the time I realized we were studying "Formal" or "Modern Standard Arabic (MSA)" a week had past (but there was only two classes a week). (When I spoke Egyptian, the teacher said, "none of that here". Notice I said "teacher"; she was a recent transplant from Iraq and obviously, didn't speak Egyptian.) So I dropped the course - I'd already had much MSA - but good ol' UNO charged me $600.00 dollars WHICH I REFUSE TO PAY! As this was a FALSE representation of a course AND was not even taught by a professor. Mind you, I have, and had at the time, a MA from the U of A Tucson and had studied at the American University in Cairo and had worked professionally with UW Seattle teachers to produce language-learning CDs in Arabic, Persian, Hebrew and Hieroglyphs. UNO denied my appeal - EVEN after I got the author of the text book UNO was using for the course - to write a letter on my behalf stating that the text is clearing teaching the Egyptian Arabic dialect, and NOT Formal or MSA, and that the syllabus for the course did not match the textbook. And now I can't get my transcripts so I can find work to do at home: I'm disabled with Lupus currently. I can't afford their $600 dollar scam. UNO is an unfair, money-hungry institution. I've had language courses at U of MI; Portland U; U of WA; U of A Tucson; the American U in Cairo and am in good standing at all. THESE ARE WORTHY, PROFESSIONAL UNIVERSITIES; DON'T WAST YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT UNO. THEY REALLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU - BUT YOUR MONEY.

I called my previous school 3 weeks before NMC to make sure all of my financial aid information transferred into NMC. I just got into UNMC. There is no way that I am giving NMC a third chance. My friend got accepted into NMC and has to pay for module courses and additional classes that are not relevant for nursing. They cost around $5,250 to complete before entering the nursing program!? I asked her if she wanted to continue going into the program even with that cost and she said this is the only one she got accepted to. Reading other reviews before signing onto yelp.com made me realize that the school is not hard to get into. They seem to be desperate for more students. I read in another review that they have been sending people who work from the school to pose as students answering questions from online message boards. The school will brag about the low cost of their program, nice and helpful staff, great program with high NCLEX pass rate and competitive nursing GPA. Well, my friend talked with her girl who attends NMC. This girl got a 3.0 GPA in her prerequisites and a 2.80 in her overall GPA from undergrad after acceptance into their nursing program. She also talked with students from other programs saying that the school charges $425/unit for modules for students who fail the NCLEX. Although admissions said that I could still get a seat in their nursing program after all the mistakes that have happened, I would have to say NO!
