I love the hell out of this bookshop. It's not taking itself too seriously. This is not the place to come and discuss literary brilliance in hushed tones or find a big dusty classic. This is a fun bookshop, geared at fun gifts and design geeks.
Pop culture is celebrated heavily, so if you want a joke gift or the latest ridiculous meme to turn hard copy (Grumpy Cat et al), you will find it here if anywhere. If anyone ever made Kramer's coffee table book about coffee tables - it would wind up in this store.
Some may pass it off as a little too frivolous for this reason, but the reason I love this place is that if you're looking for a book on something like typography, branding, photography, sociology, music or fashion, there's a good chance you'll find it here. For some people that is serious stuff and these books are the real deal. If you work in advertising, graphic design etc - you should check it out.
The children's books are quirky and designed to amuse parents.
I love the addition of the greeting cards and postcards. I'm usually here gift shopping and because I have a tendency to see gift giving as a personal challenge to find the most nonsensical card to accompany it, this is a one-stop-shop for me.
If you can stop judging the plaid-wearing bearded man reading in the corner long enough, you'll probably find something to entertain you here. read more
