Terrible experience working with this company. I signed a relatively large contract and immediately regretted it. The project manager, Justin, promised a ton without delivering. Had to have a second company come and help because they flat out refused to help with landscaping, saying "that's not my job" and "that's not my department". It's a landscaping company but they turned it into a super mediocre construction job, which is not what I was going for at all. I would definitely go with a different company, Dala Casa was extremely helpful and came out to fix all the stuff they didn't do. They also promised "color and height and asymmetrical landscaping", then planted 9 white flowering plants in a row in front of my house, removing all the color and leaving it looking boring and dull. It's a brand new home and really bummed me out. Add the fact that the design fee was $1000 and I don't really know what I paid for. Requested berry bushes and fruit trees, but that was forgotten. Justin "knew a guy" for all the requests and projects, but none of them ever materialized. Then, his assistant promised she'd be "boots on the ground all week making sure things get done" after I contacted them about how unsatisfactory the job had been and she never even bothered to show up. Really disrespectful for a such a large contract. John who assisted with my porch/stairs was very helpful, but the company they contracted with for the stair fabrication was super mediocre with poor finishes and a confusing layout read more

After 3 years of fertilizing and maintenance I had them removed because they weren't growing only to find that the metal cage had been left on the root balls. A waste of time and money due to their negligence. Calls & complaints to the company were ignored. read more

Quite possibly the worst customer service that I have ever encountered. We contracted with them to redo our backyard, and initially things seemed to go smoothly. However, once the deposit was received, the delays began. Everything was late, phone calls were not returned, and after they told us, they were "done" we realized that our outdoor lighting had somehow been disconnected. So they reluctantly returned to fix that problem. We just ended up having to pay out of pocket to have a new sewage pipe put in because they also put a stake through our line. They refused to pay for the damages and said that our plumber overcharged us while admitting that they had put the stake through our pipe. Our experience with them was absolutely awful! We purchased our home last summer, and the yard was a jungle all over. My husband and I spent months of weekends trying to clear the yard, but felt like we were just scratching the surface. We did manage to cut things back in the late fall, but we knew we needed to do more or things would end up a mess again. I contacted MetroGreenscape after being ghosted by another landscaping company and they have been nothing but incredible. Tina was very responsive and got us set up with an appointment for Sean to come out and give us a quote quickly. Sean was early to the appointment, professional, and really knows his stuff! We discussed working in phases due to the amount of work we have to do, and they are completely happy to work with us on that. I had an appointment for a consult so I could get an estimate to have a gunnite pool installed at a home we purchased in Mooresville. The night before the appointment, I received a call from Justin who informed me during the call that in order to get an accurate estimate, I would first need to pay to have a design worked up by him. You read that right - before I could get an estimate from MetroGreenscape, I would have to pay for it. Fortunately, there are several other pool companies in Mooresville that do NOT charge for estimates. We decided to cancel the appointment. read more

After less than a year, they tried to up the monthly fee by $50; didn't fulfill last month of contract; revolving door of crew members; they left the gate open twice, and our dogs got out while we're weren't home. I don't believe there is enough space for me to fully explain all of the issues that I've had with MetroGreenscape over the course of my project. Frankly, working with them has been a nightmare. The project took nearly 4x as long as they quoted, there was an absolute lack of communication throughout the entire thing, they failed to complete numerous aspects of the project and then tried to charge us for work/materials that wasn't completed, and they installed a faulty irrigation system that has had 5 leaks requiring repair. What really puts the icing on the cake, however, is how they treat their customers. All we have asked for throughout the entire project is what we were paying for. Their own project managers and subcontractors told us that the issues we highlighted and wanted resolved were not unreasonable. However, our salesman David Foley, still thinks it is appropriate to send sarcastic, unwarranted emails to customers when they report issues. If the owners of the company (who were included on the email) think that this is an acceptable way to treat customers, you can only imagine the type of service you will receive. read more

Sean came out to provide an estimate. Initially he was very standoffish. At one point, I said you're selling me a service not the other way around. It did not seem very friendly at all. He was supposed to provide an estimate the following day but did not. He provided it 2 days later. Tina from the office was very friendly and responsive. read more

Excellent job of designing and building our patio. They coordinated with another company that added a pergola. The design, material ordering and getting on the build schedule took about 7 weeks. Once all the materials were on site the entire installation and build process took approximately four days. Worth the wait read more

They did work on our backyard last year and put a stake through one of our sewage pipes. It was extremely expensive to fix the sewage leak and they admitted to their mistake. However they refused to help pay for the damage that they caused. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

We had a patio and landscaping project completed over the summer months of 2020. MetroGreenscape was distinguishable in several categories. I am an architect and fully understand the importance of executing design. My wife and I sketched up the design of the project and presented that design to MetroGreenscape. From the moment they arrived on our property to initially review the project until the very end of construction there was always an awareness to the initial design of the project. They were very interested to carry through with exactly what the customer wanted. There are always many different ways of altering design with substitutions of materials and ultimately how the materials go together brings about many different options. We felt like they were an amazing quarterback of breaking the project down to the pieces and parts and how all of them come together to achieve the desired look and feel and budget. Their construction crew worked tirelessly through the hot summer months. The quality of the product was very good. The craftsmanship was also very good. This was a very successful project that has transformed the way we live in our house. The house now functions entirely different. We truly have added on an entirely new dimension to our home. The physical part of that is easy to understand but the mental part of that is a very special personal feeling that comes with living in a well crafted designed place. All of the other companies took forever to respond, never showed up for the initial appointment or didn't follow up after our meeting. With metro greenscape, that never happened. They always responded immediately. I love the craftsmanship of my firepit and new deck! Recently I hired them to do my lawn maintenance and they do a perfect job each time. We contracted with Metro Greenscape in December of 2015 for three-phase outdoor project priced at just under $100,000.00 for 1) building an 8 foot retaining wall to stabilize our home (built on an extreme slope causing settling issues) including proper drainage installation, irrigation retrofit, grading, addressing slope issues and drainage along the sides of the home and new fence installation along the top of the retaining wall; 2) upper deck expansion; 3) installation of a paver patio, fire pit and back yard grass; and 4) upgrade on front yard landscaping, including irrigation retrofit. We chose Metro for warranty guarantee. The project began in January, 2016 and we experienced delays on a projected 6 week project from the onset with construction managers not having blue prints (caused a shortage in our back of 18"), construction managers not being on site and turnover of employees. By the end of April, Metro still had not completed beyond 90% of the contract, yet continued to request payments for services, when remaining work not yet completed exceeded what was due. After multiple contacts Metro to complete the job, we contacted an attorney on April 29, 2016 to work on our behalf to address finalization of contract commitments, including a final walk through and punch list of items yet to be completed/corrected. Metro Greenscape responded with an attorney, who despite negotiating since April, has consistently delayed responses and the company/attorney has yet to provide an agreeement for completion of work that we contracted for, and remedy of issues with quality of workmanship. Some of these issues include: 1) Improper sloping of back yard to retaining wall. Wall exceeds height of home foundation 2) Ineffective irrigation - causing failure to thrive of grass in back and bushes in front 3) Improper installation of firepit and not to code - with GFCI in inaccessible area 4) Loose fence along top of retaining wall 5) Leaks throughout underdecking of new deck 6) Lifting of pavers and cracks over 1/2" as a result of improper compaction 7) Improper drainage, causing erosion along the North side of home and along the new retaining wall Our requests are for Metro to address: 1) Provide all project permits 2) Proper Install fire pit per manufacturer 3) Repair slope of back yard to 2% and ensure proper drainage 4) Repair all pavers lifting issues and ensure proper drainage 5) Repair patio deck underdecking to alleviate all leaking 6) Repair existing irrigation to ensure adequate for front and back areas 7) Repair loose aluminum fencing along retaining wall and vinyl fence damage 8) Address drainage on North side of home and erosion 9) Written Warranty Guarantee read more

MetroGreenscape deserves five stars but for a rough start with the initial crew working our yard. They did much of the grunt work but did not have a good eye for the quality we expected. That was eventually overcome and corrected by the supervisor (Wayne) and another team who did an outstanding job in following up and making our yard look exactly like we planned and imagined it. Wayne's bullishness to get the job done right to our satisfaction is a testament to Metro Greenscape. The initial consultation was good. Service on the day of the project was good too and we are happy with the outcome. However, the communication is beyond horrific. They do not have any type of solidified workflow to properly communicate anything and admitted to having real troubles with this as a company. I would not use their services again or recommend them until they take the time to clean that up. Wish I could rate them higher. Did a consultation with them. Liked what they presented. Price a bit higher than others but not too bad. Hired them to shape up front of house by transplanting some bushes and planting a whole new garden. A couple of days after the job was completed, all the transplanted bushes died. Told us it was due to shock. Other companies I have talked to since said maybe one or two is possible but not all at the same time. Now a few of the new ones are not doing well. Company called. Hired MetroGreenscape in December for landscape lighting and yard cleanup. The end-result was acceptable, however the process during the 3 days they took to install was extremely disorganized and the communication from the project manager was less than acceptable. The project was supposed to take one day, but when the work was left unfinished at the end of each day nobody reached out to let me know what was going on. When I would call the project manager, I would get a text message back saying "call you right back" then never hear from him. On the second day when the lanscape lights were supposed to be installed I came home at noon to find everyone had left. When I finally got in touch with the project manager he said "I let them leave because they weren't sure where to put the lights", even though written instructions were already drawn up and given to them by the supervisor prior to the project starting - either way, it was totally unacceptable to let that happen. Having to call and ask for updates and having a 1-day project last 3 days created a lot of stress for me and my husband who were constantly having to leave work and come home to check on things. Would not recommend simply due to the stress of having their project managers not doing the basics of their job. I left a "not satisfied" response back directly to the company after the project. I received a phone call about 2 weeks ago from the office manager saying that their COO wanted to sit down and discuss my review with me as my report of events did not accurately reflect the company values they had. I welcomed a phone call (to make it convenient for everyone) and they said he would be in touch. 2 weeks later I still have not heard back. read more

Metro Greenscape recently completed a two-week project for us that included a Blue Stone Terrace, brick seating wall, brick serpentine sidewalks, trench and below-grade storm drainage. Our whole experience, from initial contact, preliminary meeting, job scheduling, finish selection, construction and final punch list was a true pleasure. Everyone connected with Metro Greenscape was highly professional, courteous, punctual and diligent. The construction team was highly organized and willing to explain the daily process, clearly explained and worked out unforeseen issues and left the job site clean and orderly at the end of each day. The crew were also very proactive at containing and covering both raw materials and debris from the elements and in providing temporary drainage in case of inclement weather. All these 'little' things were greatly appreciated and served to streamline the tasks and make for an extremely beautiful end-product. We are extremely happy and confident in the quality of the finished elements and the 'professional' craftsmanship and character of the contractor. Summary: Landscape maintenance - 2/5 Irrigation maintenance - 2/5 Landscape construction - 5/5 Retaining wall construction - 5/5 Drainage work - 4/5 Over the four years I've worked with Metro Greenscape, I've engaged them in two large scale projects amounting to a seven figure investment at my home and one commercial retaining wall project into the twenty or thirty thousand range. Maintenance has been my chief concern, as well as generally being proactive around things covered or not while onsite. The residential projects included substantial and sophisticated rock and column work on surfaces related to my home, complicated natural appearing pond systems, expansive multi-acre landscaping, irrigation, natural-appearing pool construction following the theme of the ponds on site, as well as ongoing maintenance. Our relationship now extends 4 years. I can't say things were or are perfect, they weren't, aren't and seldom are. We do have ongoing construction related issues that we know will be solved, and ongoing irrigation problems that are causing some issues with our landscaping. On the work, the quality of the pond and water fall construction, stone work, and pool are exceptional - these stand out as crown jewels of our property and the work that Metro Greenscape performed. I conveyed basic design concepts and providing crude drawings of what I wanted to accomplish and they built it. My guidance on stonework on our home was followed exactly and the results are truly exceptional at any price. The feeling of our property is resort like and attracts such comments from guests around the world. I have yet to see a hotel property that I like better! I don't believe any other group could have achieved these end results. We've constructed an area that could be mistaken for a mountain home in Colorado or anywhere in the mountains, but are in the foothills of North Carolina conveniently located near Charlotte. The build involved dozens of truckloads (full 53' trailer loads) of stone brought in from the Virginia mountains to give us the appearance we were looking for. On the landscaping, I've certainly seen a bit of the concerns outlined here. Plants and trees that died, maybe they could have been planted and maintained better. Generally speaking after a concern is cited, these items are replaced and in a prompt manner. I do have to cite the problem myself to have these issues resolved. On the maintenance side, I have to reduce the number of stars given heavily on the overall review, we spend tens of thousands per year per, and have for many years now. I had noticed, and did continue to notice until recent months, that maintenance was improving. Unfortunately it has declined, and I have to comment on concerns around turf care - I have dead patches all over the turf on our property. Much of this started with a switch to a third party for overseeing and fertilization in years past and has not been remedied. Replacement sod is placed in and then dies again in the same areas.. Other areas where no comment or action is taken include irrigation that is wildly miss-performing and appearance problems also where no comment or action is taken. Many of my concerns are unlikely to affect the average maintenance customer, though I suspect the turf concerns are a problem that would affect everyone. For retaining walls, I have a commercial building that had an adjoining property behind it with a deep slope. This caused drainage and appearance issues. We wanted to solve the water flow and appearance issues, but also make it useable for team members to sit out-side and hang out during lunch breaks or otherwise. The area behind the building was built up substantially and a paver walk way installed, drainage installed, and a nice wall that retained simple to maintain plants installed. The build up resulted in water leakage into the facility, which was promptly addressed by removing the build up, applying sealer to the wall of the building, and adding additional drainage. This was done very promptly. Years later it still looks good, the low-maintenance plants are covering most of the wall, and no maintenance is necessary. The drainage works extremely well in the end. The wall is approximately 5ft tall by 60ft wide, and the surface buildup underneath approximately 2ft. read more

We first hired Metro-Greenscape 6 years ago to come up with some ideas for the back yard. After 5 years the deck started to have some trouble and needed to be replaced. The owner of the company got involved and came up with a fair circumstance for all parties. We now have a brand new deck that is nicer then what it was before and they did everything they said they would do. In today's day in age with contractors that is rare. We had Darin come out and talk with us about what we could do to make our backyard an entertaining space. He asked a lot of lifestyle questions, what our style was and what our end goal was. We gave him our budget (which is smaller than he works with normally I'm sure) and he stuck with us and changed the conversation from what he could do for us to what he could teach us to do ourselves. I appreciated his opinions and professional advice, and we are hiring them to help us with the design phase, and we will be doing most of the work ourselves! Warranty work: Metro Greenscape put an amazing outdoor living space in my backyard that includes a pool, a fire pit area and a full outdoor kitchen. After four years, some of the pavers around the pool deck had settled and a couple of stones were loose around the edge of the pool. I contacted MG because the original work was still under warranty. They moved quickly to diagnose the problem and then immediately sent a crew to repair the area. The work was done in a single day and everything looks brand new! I was even more pleased at the end of the day when I saw that the crew left my property as clean as it was when they arrived. I think consumers get nervous when it comes to needing work that falls under a warranty. Metro Greenscape stands behind their work and they take care of their customers! Job well done. read more

The outcome was perfect but the process had a few bumps in the road. We contracted and had been given drawings with pictures of paver etc which we loved. We received grey paver that was not what was agreed upon (we had asked for tan color)- we addressed this with Chris and within hours we had several samples at our door to choose from. We picked the most tan by then when the new bunch showed up it once again was much more grey than the sample and still not what we anticipated based on the drawings. I made Chris aware that I was concerned and he promised to get paver that we wanted even if that meant there would be an additional cost and assured us this would not be charged to us. Ultimately we got beautiful paver but due to some miscommunication amongst the project manager and owner some accusations were made about us not wanting to pay the additional cost which put a bad taste in our mouth but immediately once the confusion was realized everyone went above and beyond to apologize for the misunderstanding and bent over backwards to make things right (which they didn't have to do at all and was very much appreciated) this was the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5- the overall outcome was a 10 the men who leveled out the land, installed the paver, laid the sod and planted the plants were INCREDIBLE- they finished 2 weeks sooner than anticipated were Such hard working and efficient men who left no trace that they were even there and they did everything to perfection. They were 2 of the hardest working individuals I have ever seen - and Rudy their main guy was so sweet and accommodating! I think overall the product and service was excellent but the issue we had with miscommunication was upsetting but they more than made up for it with the final product - the sod is already green and growing 2 weeks later and we got compliments from everyone in our neighborhood. I would recommend reaching out to the owner if you have issues with products instead of just relying on the project manager as I think if I had done that this issue never would have occurred - also make sure you confirm that what is pictured on the contract is in fact what you are getting (color and all). read more

I found them to be overpriced compared to other landscapers I received quotes from. They have a design fee, even for simple projects, and even if you know exactly what you want. They made several comments about the location/pricing of homes of my neighborhood and how people typically don't spend any money in these types of locations. I was offended. The person I met with also made some disparaging comments about "landscapers" who make a living ONLY cutting grass. I would not recommend this company. read more

After determining the plan to move forward, he explained how the process would work and what we could expect. They sent daily updates with pictures and cleaned up before the weekends.
