Never travelling Prague again..Scum country I travelled to…read morePrague last week for 3 days with my husband and 2 young kids and purchased 72 hour travel ticket to cover my stay. However as soon as we had entered train after purchasing our ticket train inspectors have followed us on the train and fined us for not activating our tickets. The inspectors could have warned us before we got on the train to validate our tickets However instead they waited for us to get on the train and fined us immediately. This is disgusting, as I tourist I will never travel prague again I feel that is a scum that government allows to happen to tourists intentionally to make money. I lived and travelled in the Europe all my life and never experienced such stupid rule. If I'm only in a country for 3 days and paid for 3 day travel ticket how can I be fined for such minor mistake. Clearly I'm not benefitting from the mistake either. Also what's the point in purchasing the ticket? You might as well just get on the train without a train ticket and pay the fine if you get caught, that way you will at least save money on the train ticket???

Three cheers for the inexpensive and efficient Prague Public Transit Company, who operate the…read moresubway, trams and buses in the capital of the Czech Republic. Founded in 1897, the company was initially in the business of generating and distributing electricity and then focused on mass transit after nationalization of the energy industries in 1946. The company graduated to being a joint-stock company wholly owned by the City of Prague in 1991. I rode the metro several times around the city and the trams got me to where I needed to be. Easy to ride and there are multiple different vendors of tickets. We got ours from the hotel and for CZK 32 (about $1.25) you ride for 90 minutes or spend three times as much and ride for 24 hours. You must activate your ticket at any station, which stamps a time on it as indicator of validity. A little crowded at times but the trains are clean and there seemed to be enough seating when needed. Announcements in the city core were in Czech and in English. [Review 12214 overall, 1998 of 2019.]

To buy the tickets you have a machine but it's with coins only, that could be uncomfortable. Para bajar decidimos tomar el funicular. Es muy lindo también, les recomiendo hacer una ida caminando y la otra en funicular y así tenes ambas experiencias! Para comprar los tickets tenes la maquina pero solo es con monedas, eso puede ser incomodo.

There are three common ways how to get to Petrin park located on the top of Petrin hill: on foot from tram stop Pohoralec (approx. 10 minute walk to Petrin Tower), on foot from river Vltava past Ujezd tram stop walking up the hill takes at least 20 minutes. Or take the funicular located next to tram stop Ujezd. During mean times it departs every 10 minutes and it takes up to 5 minutes to get up but be aware of ques during tourist season when you may not get into first departing cab. Since the funicular is part of Prague public transport system you can use your already bought unmarked or marked valid tickets or buy there new ones that will be valid in other means of transport too. Its good way how to cut your time needed to get up, to see Prague Castle or to experience something a bit different in moving city.
