They have street cars that crisscross the city, buses, trains and the 3-line subway known as the Prague Metro. Like much of Europe, the system is clean, efficient and has monitors above the tracks indicating the number of minutes before the next train arrives (something New York City's MTA could desperately use). One oddity of the system is its depth. I got the feeling I was heading to a cold war bunker when riding down on the 100 meter long escalator at one of the stations which caused a little bit of vertigo. If you look over at the people riding the escalator the other direction, they all seem to be leaning away from what could be a fatal tumble. The system is no-frills. You're not going to find a coffee shop or an H&M in the stations, but it has an air of efficiency that harkens back to the days of the Soviet Union. It is also a bargain. Buy the 3-day pass which includes all public transportation in the city for 310 CZK (about $12).

There are three common ways how to get to Petrin park located on the top of Petrin hill: on foot from tram stop Pohoralec (approx. 10 minute walk to Petrin Tower), on foot from river Vltava past Ujezd tram stop walking up the hill takes at least 20 minutes. Or take the funicular located next to tram stop Ujezd. During mean times it departs every 10 minutes and it takes up to 5 minutes to get up but be aware of ques during tourist season when you may not get into first departing cab. Since the funicular is part of Prague public transport system you can use your already bought unmarked or marked valid tickets or buy there new ones that will be valid in other means of transport too. Its good way how to cut your time needed to get up, to see Prague Castle or to experience something a bit different in moving city.

I have lived in Prague for twelve years and have seen the evolution of train travel here, which started with old, very dilapidated trains, to now, where we have LEO. LEO is hands down the best carrier in the Czech Republic. They are a private firm. Trains are new, and it is honestly more like being on an airplane than a train. The prices are incredibly reasonable especially considering their top level service. And the food prices on board are reasonable, no rip off prices. If they are late, which is rare, they apologize on board! Their premium class is unreal-six seats in plush leather, and it's a quiet zone. Well worth the added expense. It is by far the most luxurious train experience in the Czech Republic-I only wish they traveled West to Germany as well. If you go premium book early as these sell out quickly. You can cancel even last minute. I had to cancel one order last week from Ukraine and could not call, however I sent an email to them, and they responded literally within 3 minutes and canceled for me, you cannot ask for better service than this. Their English is great too in case you don't speak Czech. They travel even to Poland and Ukraine, via train and then bus. Staff is very courteous.

The location is a short walk away from the Hilton Prague. The Metro Station its-self isn't too attractive, I do like the artwork on the platforms which adds a bit more boldness and uniqueness, as is typical at most of the Metro stations I used during my time in Prague. I did not notice any lifts, however, there are escalators provided. The escalators are really fast though, I was shocked getting on them for the first time and almost fell, so you do need to get on a steady step quickly, it did feel a little unsafe but on the other hand it did speed up entry to the platforms. Reasonable Metro station that provides connections to other modes of public transportation, or more central into Prague in very little time, while being useful for guests at hotels nearby including the Hilton. 3*

Clean and organized metro station on Prague's Line B in the central district of the city. At the…read moresurface level, the station is under Náměstí Republiky, the large Republic Square. Opened in 1986, the station is in great condition. There is a large escalator from the surface to the ticketing and platform level where a single island platform separates the two tracks. On one side, the next stop is Můstek (toward Zličín) and on the other side, the next stop is Florenc (toward Černý Most). There are ticket kiosks available and a couple of small vendors outside the fare area. There is also a pay toilet, which I did not patronize today. [Review 12213 overall, 1997 of 2019.]
