They have street cars that crisscross the city, buses, trains and the 3-line subway known as the Prague Metro. Like much of Europe, the system is clean, efficient and has monitors above the tracks indicating the number of minutes before the next train arrives (something New York City's MTA could desperately use). One oddity of the system is its depth. I got the feeling I was heading to a cold war bunker when riding down on the 100 meter long escalator at one of the stations which caused a little bit of vertigo. If you look over at the people riding the escalator the other direction, they all seem to be leaning away from what could be a fatal tumble. The system is no-frills. You're not going to find a coffee shop or an H&M in the stations, but it has an air of efficiency that harkens back to the days of the Soviet Union. It is also a bargain. Buy the 3-day pass which includes all public transportation in the city for 310 CZK (about $12).

Ugly soviet subway station! This place looks old. The…read moretunnels are deep, but the place was clean. The architecture was interesting, almost like the Soviet brutalism. There were a few places to shop in here, as you go through the area before catching the subway trains. The subway lets you out in front of a park with interesting sculptures that sort of work in with the design of the subway station. Large rock, marble and aluminium metal. The walls of the actual platform look like Lego pieces! The signs are pretty clear, and the ticket machine is easy to use. The trains haul it from one station to the next quickly. This was a nice station to get around. This station is mentioned in a Radiohead song "A Reminder," when the announcer calls out this station at the beginning of the song!

The architecture is quite stunning in this affluent little neighborhood, a church, eats, parks, Zizkov hill nearby, the ugly Černy TV tower. To the city centre, but a short ride away. Of all the metros, probably came to this one the most in my two trips over there.

It is on Line A only…read more In terms of overall decor and look of the station, this is one of my favourite stations on the network that I visited during my time in Prague. I like the green, silver and bronze on the platform, and the statue right by the escalators to get in and out of the station made it feel very grand. Due to the river being close by, there is only one entrance, the big advantage of this is it's harder to get lost coming out of the station, if you or a friend heads out the wrong exit. The station may also be useful for those visiting Prague Castle, as it is only 500 meters away, although that route did involve a large number of steps so I wouldn't recommend it. PRO TIP: Remember the Prague Metro REQUIRES a ticket but lacks a ticket gate, remember to purchase and validate your ticket from the machines by the entrance or risk a large fine.

For me Malostranska is where its at. There is a nice restaurant, its dry, safe and clean and as European metro's go that is great. The tram stops directly outside it. If you time it right you can be in the airport in about 30-40 minutes from here for only 32 kn. The ticket booth is just before the barriers. You must purchase your ticket from the mahine on the wall and its in several languages. The booth is manned sometimes but you cannot purchase tickets from here, he will give you advise if you need

The platform area is pretty with silver and gold signage. This station does have a lift signposted at each entrance, but you are able to use steps, which I prefer as it seems to be a given that subway station lifts stink of urine. As with any Metro Station in Prague, remember to buy a ticket before you board using the ticket machines. They have an English language if you prefer. You must also validate this ticket before boarding. Unlike other subway systems, there aren't traditional ticket gates, so don't get caught out or you'll risk a large fine. It acts as an interchange station between Lines A and B, and I did find it straightforward to get both in and out of the station and between lines if needed using the steps and escalators. I'm not sure about the lift route, but with they were well-signposted. 3* - Pretty average station along the Prague Metro network, the location is useful.

Opened in 1990, I couldn't tell you if the station is completely handicapped accessible as the signage could use some improvement to point out the lifts. I'm thinking that's a "No." This is an island platform with two tracks. On the one side, the next station is Florenc towards Zličín and on the other side, the next station is Invalidovna towards Černý Most. There are ticket vending machines and ticket validating machines here. For the low price of around $1.25 for 90 minutes of riding any Prague transport, that's a good deal. The tickets were cheap and the entry isn't controlled so maybe they do random checks but it was $1.10 USD per person to ride for a 30 minute ride. I'm just in awe at how clean it was compared to NYC subway stations. I knocked a star because it was very dirty on with dust on the hand rails but that is to be expected with an underground subway. Always room for improvement!

Metro Černý Most is the last stop of the Yellow line on one end, and it is a very "no-frills" kinda…read morestation. Unlike the bigger stations closer to Prague city center, this one is further out - about 30 to 35 mins from City Center; and there are very few shops in the station on the lower level. Connected to this metro station are buses to take you to different areas. This is where I go to catch the bus that goes to one of the IKEAs (IKEA Černý Most). It is one bus designated strictly for IKEA - bus #12 - downstairs and to the right. The IKEA bus runs regularly and, of course, returns you to the metro station. It is a short ride - about 7 minutes. This bus is also good to take if you are going to the Centrum Černý Most - huge mall located next door to IKEA. If you need pictures for passports or any other Prague ID, you can find a photobooth at the entrance on the Zličín side where you can take the pics. It is 100CZK cash or coins and the machine WILL NOT give back change, so use correct amount.
