There were a few places to shop in here, as you go through the area before catching the subway trains. The subway lets you out in front of a park with interesting sculptures that sort of work in with the design of the subway station. Large rock, marble and aluminium metal. The walls of the actual platform look like Lego pieces! The signs are pretty clear, and the ticket machine is easy to use. The trains haul it from one station to the next quickly. This was a nice station to get around. This station is mentioned in a Radiohead song "A Reminder," when the announcer calls out this station at the beginning of the song!

I like the green, silver and bronze on the platform, and the statue right by the escalators to get in and out of the station made it feel very grand. Due to the river being close by, there is only one entrance, the big advantage of this is it's harder to get lost coming out of the station, if you or a friend heads out the wrong exit. The station may also be useful for those visiting Prague Castle, as it is only 500 meters away, although that route did involve a large number of steps so I wouldn't recommend it. PRO TIP: Remember the Prague Metro REQUIRES a ticket but lacks a ticket gate, remember to purchase and validate your ticket from the machines by the entrance or risk a large fine.

The escalators are really fast though, I was shocked getting on them for the first time and almost fell, so you do need to get on a steady step quickly, it did feel a little unsafe but on the other hand it did speed up entry to the platforms. The location of the station is good for tourists wishing to visit Charles Bridge, as it is just a short walk away from one of Prague's most crowded tourist attractions. The overall layout/look/feel of the stop is typical to most other stations on the network, no thrills, even down to the departure boards which I found a little confusing but it does the trick, as you're not going to have to spend long here waiting for a service. It is also an unstaffed station. It is easy to follow the layout of the station as long as you're able to head down the steps from street level to the platform due to a lack of a lift. While it does have escalators, it is not handicapped accessible. It is located under Kaprova street in the Old Town district near the Old Jewish Cemetery and the Rudolfinum nearby. The platform is quite lovely with white stone and red and gold aluminum moldings. It is clean and well lit. Opened in 1986, the station is in great condition. There is a large escalator from the surface to the ticketing and platform level where a single island platform separates the two tracks. There are ticket vending machines and ticket validating machines here. For the low price of around $1.25 for 90 minutes of riding any Prague transport, that's a good deal. The tickets were cheap and the entry isn't controlled so maybe they do random checks but it was $1.10 USD per person to ride for a 30 minute ride. I'm just in awe at how clean it was compared to NYC subway stations. I knocked a star because it was very dirty on with dust on the hand rails but that is to be expected with an underground subway. Always room for improvement!
