I went to Metro Boston Driving School in order to get my US Driving License. I have been driving for 20 years in another country so my interaction with the school was minimal but still quite good. I called them as soon as I got my permit in order to schedule my road test. I was told that it's sometimes quite tricky to schedule it since getting an slot for it can be hard. In my case, they offered me to go for my test in only one week. I also ask them if it was possible to have a driving class (45 minutes) with an instructor before the test, just in case. They immediately said yes. Both class and test happened in the same day (class was at 8am, the test was at 10am), which was pretty convenient so I did not have to leave from the office two different days. The instructor was fine. Before the class he texted me in order to confirm the class and the meeting point. During my lesson, he provided useful feedback. He drove me to the test after the class and... done! I passed it without any problem. Only one thing you have to be prepared for: they only take cash! read more

Coach Peter was very patient throughout the session, and I like his humor. However the person in charge, Ann Li, often ignore my message. No matter how I was being patient and polite, she barely showed a mutual respect. I am giving a 2 star because I really like how Peter teach me. read more

So I booked a class on tuesday for thursday. Payment was through venmo which is a bit sketchy. I had a last minute emergency and called 2 hours before the appointment and told my teacher if we can reschedule. The teacher told me he will look into it. Then I called the office and they said they cant reschedule and my money is gone. As the first time experience as this company, needless to say, is horrible., they lost a customer. I am not returning back and I dont recommend this place to anyone. No wonder why it is less than 3 stars on Yelp. That should have been my warning. Last minute emergencies do come and not accommodating them and taking advantage of it is not acceptable. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. The pass rates for this school is very low, I think only 2 people out of 10 in my batch passed that day. There are key elements of the exam that were not taught in my lessons, resulting in the examiner questioning that I had 0 road experience going to the exam. Oh and, the sponsor they give you to do the road test talks repeatedly to the examiner during your road test, and if you did minor mistake, they will also yell at you, resulting in your fail. In addition, the location that they schedule your road test for is not at a proper RMV. They "rent" out one of the RMV examiners who is VERY tough and take you to a route that is not normally used for exams. This route is quite difficult if you are a first time learner and/or driving during rush hour, which is when they schedule your exams. Don't waste your money here. read more

PLEASE DON'T GO. I already failed twice, really sucks. The main person who was in charge, Ann Li, she was so patient before I paid but was soooooo rude after I paid. I had a lot of driving experience outside the US (I drove in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, China...) and also in the US with my permit, and she blamed me for "not practicing enough." Ridiculous. Also she said she would schedule a practice session for me, but she never did. I had to ask her soooooooo many times and she didn't reply. Finally when she replied (that was one day before my road test), she said there was no session available. What is wrong with this woman??? Save your money and your piece of mind and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Perhaps try Success Driving School or whatever other ones instead. read more

Total waste of money. They scam you by making you feel you need more lessons with them to get money out of you. I got a lesson just to practice my parallel parking two days before my actual road test. I told their "best driver" Freddie that I knew how to drive and I only wanted to practice parallel parking. He didn't let me parallel park more than twice. When I asked if I could go again the first time, he said "later" and made me drive around. After the second time I asked again and he said, "Time's up. Book more lessons with us." During driving, he would yell at me, and move the steering while himself while I was driving (instead of teaching me if I was doing something wrong). It was incredibly dangerous and made me so nervous. He kept telling me I'll fail and I should book two more lessons with them. I honestly felt he just wanted to make money out of me. I asked him a question about when I could take a right on a red line. He said he'll tell me later and he didn't. I asked him again and he said hmm. I'll tell you, and didn't. He completely ruined my confidence and I was almost on the verge of tears because he kept saying that I will fail my test. I don't know anything and I should book two more lessons with them. Not even subtle about making money off me When I complained at the reception, he called me a liar and when I confronted him, he admitted and made another lame excuse for it not being safe even though I insisted we go to a parking lot. It was his responsibility to help me learn but he didn't want me to do better. He gave me wrong instructions which I m glad I blocked as soon as I left the session because I was upset and confused two days before my test. Something I didn't appreciate at all was how inappropriate he was about the other driving school I booked the road test with, saying "Oh how will you drive those cars. They are so big. The streets are so narrow. You will fail. It's not a good school." Even though the other school "North Quincy Auto Academy" was amazing. They never promoted themselves or lied to me about getting more lessons. Their drivers are patient and calm. I wrote to the Metro School about my concerns after the lesson and they did not even bother to write back - which shows how much they really care. They got their money, what more do they want. I also just want to tell them that I am grateful that I did not listen to them and booked more lessons. I forgot everything Freddy told me and I passed my driving test whereas he was so sure I'd fail if I didn't book more lessons with them. I will advise everyone to listen to the bad reviews and don't go here. They're awful people with terrible work ethics and they will screw up your test for you. read more

Today I just passed my road test thanks to the excellent driving instructor Freddy at Metro! I would highly recommend this driving school to anyone who is looking to get their drivers license in Massachusetts. I took all my lessons with Freddy (about 5 total) and I was able to pass my road test on the first try (with a sponsor from Metro). He was very knowledgable, courteous, and punctual. I asked him do you know this is a handicap spot? He said he was handicapped and walked away. He seemed fine to me. Car had no handicap plates what so ever. Wow , this is really good driving school, today was my first day and first time driving on the road , let me start in the beginning. I searched all driving schools are around my area . I read all the reviews, I couldn't find a good review one , so I decided to give a try maybe just for one lesson see if I will like it . I called to make an appointment, I read online many people said they don't have a good service, but the lady was so friendly and helpful. and I got a second day morning , even its early 8:15 LOL . I couldn't sleep well that might , I was so nervous! I got a confirmation before the night , which was nice . In the morning the instructor was on time , his name is Freddy . I took 2 lessons with him today , HE WAS AWESOME. He was so patient , even through I was freaked out . At the end I was going to tip him , he saw me pulling my wallet , he rejected right away . I took lessons with Freddy, Dan and Roger and was able to pass my road test today. Prior to taking lessons with them, I had taken lessons back in 2014 with another school but never really felt ready to take the road test. I haven't driven since 2014 and was quite nervous about the test today but the instructors were able to get me ready and give me the confidence I needed to pass the test. The instructors prepared me for everything so nothing came as a surprise to me during the road test. Hello, After taking 5 driving lessons with metro driving school, I scheduled my road test for today October 4, 2020 for 8:45am In Malden, Ma. I arrived at 8:30am. My road test begin at approximately 9:20am. During my road test, the instructor remained on the phone for the duration of my road test. As the instructor was talking on the phone and trying to direct me, it distracted me. The instructor claims to have failed me for parallel parking and wide turns. Again, I reiterate she was giving me directions while she was on the phone. I also might add, I am of the LGBT community and I think the instructor took offense to that. On August 6, 2020 I paid $100 and I was told I was scheduled for a road test for September 19, 2020 at 9am In Braintree, Ma. I arrived for my test On September 19, 8:40am. After checking in, I was informed that I was not on the list for a road test. I then contacted the driving school. I spoke with the instructor who conducted my road test today(10/4/20/), in which she informed me, that the $100 that I paid was for a sponsor not for the road test. In which, My money was not refunded. I also might note, that during my lessons with this driving school. all the instructors were either on their phones talking or texting during my lessons. read more

This is one of waste driving school in Boston. I took almost 15 lessons and appeared for the test twice but never passed.. and the trainer never complained about my driving skills. Basically they dont want to teach anything as they simply wanted us to pay for lesson for teaching nothing. read more

Metro Boston driving school took my 110$ and refused to reschedule my road test or make refund because I fell sick and couldn't wait more than two hours for the examiner who didn't show up on time and kept us waiting in a non-equipped area in the middle of no where packed several students inside a van. They said my road test is between 3.30-4pm. I was there from 3-4.45, I felt sick so I requested reschedule and left home. The sponsor- who turned out to be the car owner and school owner- called me in the middle of my way home to say that the examiner is in his way but I can't return. she forces me to pay again or no reschedule. she refuses to refund me...The lady was even extremely unprofessional with me and hang up the phone in me 3 times. I still talk to them politely on e-mails until today without results. I reported to RMV they said they don't take care of this, I asked my bank to return my money because I didnt receive the service they said they can only request refund (Zelle payment). don't go there, just avoid this school at all cost read more

I said we should not block intersection in accordance with handbook from Massachusetts and he said you are right. This is the WORST driving school. I paid 150 for the road test, but they changed the date without telling me. I couldn't make that time so I had to relinquish that 150 bucks. One year later, I went to another driving school and passed the road test. I logged in to rmv and found out I got 3 road test fees standing...This school said that 150 bucks would cover all the fees and now I had to pay 2 more 35 dollars in order to get my driving license...And the funniest thing was that I've never even went to thoes two road tests that metro driving school registerd for me...Also, the stuff was very rude to me, especially the woman in charged who told me I was stupid and hang up on me when I was asking why they changed my road test day without telling me. I've never got an apology...I didn't write that review one year before because I thought shouldn't let this incident keep distracting me. But I'm really mad by the extra 70 dollars of road test fees that I had to pay after a whole year. And the other driving school was much better than this one. I had driver's license in China but I never really drove a car on a regular basis. I chose the three class plus road test service which is $28*3+$55=$139. Every class is 45min. Since I know the basic rule of driving, the coach just let me drove on the road and pointed out my mistakes etc. My last two classes were taught by Roger Weng, who is fantastic. He told me all the tricks and tips about watertown road test. I passed the road test and got my driver's license. read more

Don't even bother going to that driving school to be quite honest. They'll take your money and won't teach how to be a safe driver or even educate you on the basic functions of a car. I suggest going to North Quincy Driving Academy. They have good instructor and get you your licenses in no time. All my instructor at this driving school were patient, nice and did not yell when I made a minor mistake on the road. read more

I am writing this review to give everyone out there a warning about this company. Do not waste your time and money. I am sorry I did not listen to the other bad reviews - they were right all along! I approached Boston Driver's Ed on my husband's behalf because they offered weekend road tests and had a date that suited us. 1) In mid July - I made a booking for my husband with Lisa - the secretary/PA of the driving school. Trust me, this wasn't easy. She was meant to call me back but "lost the number under all of her papers".I gave her the benefit of the doubt and proceeded to provide my patronage. This is the first sign of unreliability for ANY place - a lesson I have learnt. The test was scheduled for the 8/5, and I paid for a 3 hr driving package. 2) A week before the test - I sent Lisa a copy of my husband's permit. Luckily I got in touch - because she found it convenient to let me know that the test had been cancelled and that they would reschedule. I was annoyed by this but AGAIN I remained patient and gave her the benefit of the doubt. 3) I called Lisa to reschedule my husband's driving lessons. She could not even remember or find the details. After much shuffling and admin assistance from my end - she was able to identify the details of us - the client. At every opportunity, Lisa would complain about how hectic her job is...Yes..I'm sure being a secretary at a driving school is absolutely daunting! I was glad to be of help to Lisa. 4) The road test was then rescheduled for 8/15.I had emailed Lisa to reschedule my husband's initial driving lessons closer to the day of the test. Ofcourse - she did not respond. When we called to double check on the 4th of August - she insisted that if we did not stick to the plan, we would lose our money and time booked with the instructor. My husband cleared his work schedule and decided to go anyway - since it was only meant to be ONE HOUR. Again - Boston Driver's Ed proved to be extremely unprofessional - with no or little regard for their client's schedule. My husband landed up driving another client of theres from Longwood to Lexington, and THEN to Waltham at the convenience of the driving instructor, Lester - who was rude and derogatory towards my husband from the moment they met. There was absolutely NO instruction on what is required in the test. If we wanted to drive around aimlessly - there would be no need to pay someone else to do so. My husband then took an UBER from Waltham back to work in Longwood - whilst putting his work in jeopardy. He wasted three hours because of this. They do NOT specify that this is how they operate - so unless you have a lot of time, do not go for driving lessons with these people. 5) AGAIN, Lisa said that the test was cancelled. Yes, AGAIN. She said that she could try for two weeks after that, but it may be a Friday or Saturday - no guarantees. WHY would you advertise to your clients that there is weekend availability, and not hold up your end of the bargain after being paid? At this stage we were getting desperate. I suppose this is my own stupidity for not seeing all the signs and ending our interaction with this school. We agreed to a Two hour driving lesson on Saturday 8th of August from 3pm-5pm. We cleared our schedules and waited for over an hour for someone to arrive. There was absolutely NO communication from Boston Driver's Ed to say that the instructor won't be coming. I am STILL waiting for an apology from the owner - John, who does not think that it is necessary to apologise to clients for wasting their time and money. 6) On the 8/9 I sent John and Lisa a polite email explaining all the above, and asking for a solution. They both ignored my email. On 8/12 ,I phoned them. Lisa pretended that she did not receive the email - REALLY? John, of course, did not feel it was necessary to respond to a client - I mean, why would he - he made his money without providing a service. I find this to be absolutely unethical. Lisa complained about her job ONCE again - at this stage, I could not bother to feel sorry for her. I asked Lisa to read my email and call me back. Ofcourse she did not call back. "She couldn't find my number".This level of incompetence isn't even expected from a two year old. Lisa offered NO solution.Eventually I came to my senses and decided that it was time to give up. I requested a refund. 7) Over a week later I saw some money refunded to my account. It was too good to be true that John would admit the mistakes. I have been robbed of $100 for bad service. Ordinarily,I would accept forfeiting a deposit if it was my fault. They screwed us over and made a profit. Any business owner with MORALS would've acted differently. I called John this morning to try to talk it out. He said that if I wanted an apology, I should say thank you for the refund. Basically - this school is a reflection of poor work ethic, incompetence and distrust. I sympathise with everyone else who has been duped by this lot. read more

First the front desk lady, she not care what Instructor your brooking , she is king, she can do what ever she want. second, different instructor tell you different thing. finally, it is most important is they want you to fail. I completely agree with the comments that this is the worst driving school you can ever sign up for. They are completely unprofessional and lack class. They will protect their own staff over the customers opinions, which is backwards in this society. They are deceptive and has no organization what so ever. The staff is rude and prejudiced towards non-Chinese speaking customers and will try to force their way through multiple situations. The front desk staff is rude, and even the male drivers who occasionally help pick up the phone is problematic.
