My wife's experience: This is regarding the Houston Methodist Emergency Care Center at Kirby with the African American radiologist that refused to give me her name, that serviced me on 8/15/2025 around 12am. This person mistreated me doing a CT Scan that watched me struggle to get on the table for minutes after being reminded of the blood clots in both of my legs and my inability to move. She then flopped me on the table violently. Wailing in pain she kept telling me to stop crying as I complained and cried to her while being in pain that the solution they use when accessing the port was spraying me in the face, neck, and body. I had a panic attack and could not breathe and she would not stop to check on my well being. I have pictures of the solution all over my neck, chin, arm. I'm utterly hurt by the mistreatment and neglect that your staff member has given me. Out of the 20+ plus scans, MRIs, etc. I have never been traumatized the way your radiologist has treated me, ever! I demand to be contacted immediately because this is not right for patients to be treated like trash when we are in pain and already beaten down by life. read more

I was seen fairly quickly and the staff were pleasant. My care was subpar unfortunately. I cut my thumb so I dropped in for a quick ring block, irrigation and bandage. Instead I got a couple misplaced lidocaine shots, silver nitrate, and a Norco. Should have saved myself the $500 copay and gone to an urgent care. read more

I came here for a really bad kidney infection. I had a fever, chills, nausea, pain, everything. Went to triage gave a urine sample. Waited 6 hours and still didn't see a doctor. They told me it would be another 3-4 hours so I left because the chairs were so uncomfortable and all I wanted was to lay down. Visited St Johns the next morning and turns out the kidney infection caused sepsis and had to be admitted. Felt like Houston Methodist didn't think my condition was a big deal but I would've been saved a lot of grief if they had run my urine labs sooner and avoided the blood poisoning all together. read more

I recently went to this ER with an asthma attack. The staff was very nice and professional. The doctor and my nurse was super caring. After 3-4 hours I went home pretty stable but a bit out of it because of the medications. Will not going to give the 5 stars only because I was back at my home with meds effect when I called the center to ask them to please call in Walgreens for my prescriptions. I explained that I was alone and do not have anybody to go to pick them up until late at night and these prescriptions are life saving. She said she will not call them in & to take an Uber. I called again, asked for a supervisor and talked to another nurse: There was not any supervisor available. The REASON she gave me for NOT calling is because THEY ARE TOO BUSY TO DO THESE CALLS AND if they do it for me will have to do it for everybody else and it will become an issue. I thought that was so rude! She too suggested that I call an UBER. I hung up. The calls were on NOVEMBER 18, 2018 at 5:15PM. I am very disappointed because of the HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! These women showed no COMPASSION nor Interest in the patient. They could have been nicer and just said it's their policy and they were sorry. Beware -- Methodist Emergency Care Center is Out of Network for Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) even though Methodist Hospital is In Network with BCBS. When arriving at the location, "Methodist Emergency Care Center" in bold lettering is above the entrance. Why are they Out of Network when it appears they are as a Methodist Hospital facility? It is because the providers at the Methodist Emergency Care Center are actually Kirby Medical Providers, who are Out of Network. When checking in, not a word was mentioned to us that the Methodist Emergency Care Center was Out of Network. Furthermore, since they are Out of Network, we get two bills: One from Kirby Emergency Physicians; the other from Methodist Hospital. Also, since the Methodist Emergency Care Center (a.k.a. Kirby Emergency Physicians) and charge an outrageous amount for emergency care, we are charged the amount that BCBS considers in excess of an "allowable" amount. I am so incredibly upset that I can't see straight. I will never go to the Methodist Emergency Care Center (a.k.a. Kirby Emergency Physicians) for any reason, and I am seriously considering never setting foot in a Methodist Hospital again. read more

I've been having serious pain around my ribs and all the way down to where it's swollen over an inch, and I can barely bend or lift anything from being pushed and falling on a tall wooden chair, and my chest hurts, can barely touch it and trouble breathing. I didn't and wasn't looking for meds. I don't / won't do meds...I wanted to know what was making me hurt so bad. They got me in for tests within a few minutes. Blood work, scan, ultrasound. The staff was nice and friendly. After 3.5 hours, the dr came in and said it was a hernia in the groin area and said nothing about my ribs and the pain and the fact I could barely touch them or move without having a lot of pain, nor did he say anything about my chest or not being able to breathe, nothing about the blood work, nothing! He said, "Well we can take a urine sample." WTH?? I asked what for? He didn't know what to say. I just walked out and one of the "nurses" came in and ripped off the tape that was holding the syringe. The doctor didn't care. He told me to go to a surgeon. ?? Again, the staff was nice. The doctor was not and didn't help at all. Now I have to go to another dr / hospital will ask for an internalist / specialist. read more

Had just gone , the doctor was super nice, however it seemed the nurses had no respect for my privacy, an ultrasound was being done on my private parts, I wasn't allowed to change on my own as the RN didnt give me the opportunity to put a cover over me and even peaked when doing other blood pressure work and the receptionist was able to walk in during the ultra sound!!! My initial visit at this place was actually great -- I had a very good doctor who got me fixed up in no time. But when I called a while later to ask some questions about a medication he prescribed, I got a nurse who gave me NOTHING but attitude. She refused to explain the side effects of the prescription to me, saying that would be "dispensing medical advice over the phone" (which isn't true at all, sorry), and she wouldn't let me talk to anyone senior to her or to the doctor on staff. I kept reiterating that I just needed her to explain whether the medication would cause an interaction, and she finally hung up on me. So, if you have a simple problem, they're fine for that, but don't expect the staff to help you with any aftercare, even if it involves something as simple as a medication question. They'll just tell you that you have to come in again (and pay at least a $100 co-pay just to get a medication question answered!). Basically they're just after your money. My best advice is to go to a REAL emergency room and not a "center" like this, and if you're stuck going here instead, call your personal doctor for aftercare questions, because this place won't help you. There is zero sense of urgency here causing the wait time to be horrific. The lack of communication is also horrific. My student waited in the waiting room with a needle in his arm for 2 hrs! There wasn't one person that came to us to let us know what was taking so long. It was also really frustrating to see nurses / personnel standing around chit-chatting when the waiting room was packed full of people. A bed finally opened up and we were brought to the back and promptly seen by a few people (which was great). Unfortunately it's been 60 minutes and no one has come to check on us. I highly recommend you go elsewhere, especially if you have an actual semi-emergency. This is ridiculous. read more

Very pleased with the immediate service that I received. Within seconds of walking in, a nurse greeted me, got me into a room and bed, interviewed me and started testing me. A doctor came to check on me within minutes The labs results took a bit longer to come in but all in all, everything was pretty swift. For my condition, I was in and out within 3 hours. Facility was clean. All rooms are private so it's not like being stuck in an emergency room where everything is out in the open. There's also a TV in each room which makes waiting hours for your lab results a bit more bearable. Sorry to say but this is one 4-star establishment I wish to never revisit. read more

I've been to this care center on 2 different occasions. Both visits ran by smooth and I was given the proper treatment (the first visit that is..). Unfortunately, when I recently started having black outs I returned to this center again to see what the issue was. I spent about 2-3 hours here with doctors running different tests on me and was told at the end of my appointment that "they did not know what was wrong". This was great news I guess. Seeing that I knew it wasn't too serious! But, that changed when I got the bill. Not only do you pay to be in the center itself but, you are also required to pay the physicians, radiologists, pathologists, and anesthesiologists! Oh. Did I mention it's all not in one bill? Yeah. They wait a few months in between each so just when you think you're finished paying one...there's another one at your door. I was unaware of each of the charges since, my father paid for my first visit. But, this is simply RIDICULOUS! Especially since I left knowing what I knew when I got there... NOTHING! They should definitely start letting the patients aware of the procedures or tests being done and the costs of each thing. Lesson learned! Never going again. Houston really needs to invest in building a care now center... read more

If you are not having a life threatening emergency, but still need urgent care- I stropgly reccomend this clinic. our wait time to see the doctor was 45 mins, within 5 mins of signing in we were assesed by a nurse. total time in and out was 1 hours and 15 mins. Not bad at all!!! Especially considering there were quite a few people in the waiting room. Compared the the ER at the Methodist Hospital, this place is about 5 times faster. Honestly, this is one of the BEST experiences I had with medical care. Granted I only went there for a big burn on my hand so it isnt much of a measure for their medical abilities. However I was imideatly received coming through the door, shown inside for a very clean very well equipped private room where I couldnt even complete my paper work because the doctor quickly rushed in to see me. He was very kind and attentive to what I was feeling asked me some quick questions and quickly gave me options to different treatment plans. Then a couple of nurses came in and helped me some more My visit took a total of 40 minutes "including the 20 minutes I had to wait for observation after they gave me a shot" Everyone was so nice and caring I honestly had a really pleasant experience Im never going anywhere else again read more

If Methodist is going to have Urgent Care facilities available then they need to properly staff them and better manage care from the moment someone steps in the door. I've been waiting over 2 hours and still haven't made it past the lobby. There was only 2 people ahead of me and one was already in for treatment. The other was a positive test for COVID that they put in the same waiting area as other patients. And this is a medical facility charged with helping bring down the COVID numbers. Very disappointing. Debating whether to leave or not despite being here for a good cause. read more

Pretty good - never great to be sick, and this center doesn't add too much to one's stress. I've unfortunately visited this location three times. Wait time varied from maybe 20 to 60 minutes, with 0-4 or so people ahead of me in the waiting area. You check in, there's a small waiting area with TV and bathroom not too far off, they'll take you into nearby room to get quick overview of issues, then will move to hospital-like room with curtained-off beds. I can't recall if there are also separate rooms there, but I think maybe so. Then, if they need to send you elsewhere via ambulance, that may take some time. One of my visits, I think I waited a few hours before they transferred me to hospital for further care. I wasn't in agony at the time, but as with all health scares, was feeling a bit shocked and knowing I was headed to hospital, just wanted to be there so I could get settled and relax some. The ambulance rides themselves were short, as the med center is not far off. All-in-all, I would expect to be there at least 2-3 hours total, depending on what's going on. Personalities ranged from somewhat short to pretty friendly, nothing bad that I recall. My first time I came in for un/misdiagnosed gallstones that were causing me awful pain. This was my third trip to ER/emergency care with these pains, plus visits to PCP, and here was where I finally got the correct diagnoses of my problems, so I was very thankful for that! There is ultrasound available, which a different emergency care center I visited did not have. The second time I came in because I passed out from being too anemic (ladies, take are of yourselves!). That was an easy diagnoses, and was glad I went in instead of waiting to visit PCP because I needed transfusions. They don't provide transfusions there, so was sent to hospital. The last time, I had some strange things going on, and was worried about my heart. They checked me out and, seeing that all was well, I went home. That was about a year and half ago and I'm still alive, so that's good! My only major complaint is that my PCP was part of the Methodist group -at an office less than a mile away- and when checking in, they could not locate my PCP's information. And then when they did, it seemed to be wrong. On a side note, I generally noticed issues with Methodist's communication between and within locations. That aside, this emergency center did a, overall good job taking care of me. read more

I have had three experiences with two different Methodist ERs and they have all been stellar. In April 2017 I fell and broke my rib. I went to the Voss location and was shown promptly to a room. Everything was state of the art and all personnel were professional and kind. I was there about 3 hours. I returned to the Voss location because of a complication of my fall. Once again I was shown in promptly and every accommodation was made to keep me comfortable during some of the painful tests. My nurse was kind and my doctor was thorough. In 2012 I went to the HWY 59 location for a bowel obstruction. We waiting a short while in the waiting room which seemed longer because I was in so much pain. However when I got to a room things happened fast IV started, pain meds, cat scan and right back to me with results. Since I was being transported to the hospital they kept me there until my room at Methodist was ready so I was taken straight to my room at the hospital. They even had the NG tube in place so all the nurse at hospital had to do was connect me to a pump. The whole thing couldn't have been smoother, more competent or professional. I know when I have a bad experience with a business I am more inclined to write a bad review than a good one and I think that is was has happened with these ER reviews. I have another friend who had a very good experience at the hwy 59 ER as well. read more

Had to take my grandma here on her drs orders when she got a serious staff infection. She ended up having to be ultimately transferred to a hospital to deal with the infection, but they were able to set her up with pain medication and keep her comfortable until they were able to make the transfer. Be mindful of which door you walk into, for there is a dentist office next door, and that's what I walked into first. Overall, a clean facility that would be useful to go to if you need something more basic taken care of. Plus from what I saw the wait time would be significantly less if there is any at all. And with the parking set up like it is, it is easy to get in and out of, and you don't have to pay for parking either. read more

Not even one star! My son cut his hand - went into the Methodist Emergency Room In Sienna Plantation, Texas. There approximately half hour! 10 stiches and cleaned it off. Hospital Charged $3183.50, Emergency Room charged $680.00 and Surgery(wth Surgery? 10 stitches?) $652.00. Total of $4515.50 for cutting his hand - Ridiculous!!
