My daughter absolutely love it here! Her teacher, Emily , is great with her! For my daughter's first recital she played a piece by Joe Hisaishi and did great as a first timer. My friend and I took join guitar lessons here for about a month. We are both adults, and decent musicians just looking to expand our skills. Our instructor Shaun was great! He is clearly a talented and knowledge musician, and warm and friendly instructor. He gave us very practical advice on how to expand skill, plenty of encouragement to when we showed self doubt, and pro tips on the best jams/open mics in the area. I took my son to mini meter classes with Carly from about 6 months old to 2 years old. He loved it through all those stages, from just listening to the music and grabbing instruments to being able to sing along, remember songs, and dance. I think mini meter helped instill in my son a love of music that I hope continues for life! read more

Cute little studios in a converted house, with a wide variety of teachers and disciplines. My daughter attends ukelele here, and is definitely improving - she even practices on her own time! I don't give it 5 stars because, I'm not sure if it's her learning style or the teacher's teaching style, but she just doesn't seem to enjoy her lessons. I do hope that, after she continues going, she will eventually enjoy the experience. Even so, her technical skills are getting way better! And despite not seeming to enjoy lessons, she certainly enjoys self-directed practice. So...there's that confusing my brain-dump for you :) read more

This review is for the Uke Summer camps. The staff here is very friendly and are excellent teachers. The camp lasts one week Monday through Friday, and it's from 9am-3pm. On the Friday, there's a recital performance; and its always quite wonderful to see the magical progress that has been made throughout the week. This year, we were delighted to see the campers perform original songs, they created; with the help of the camp directors. We've been going here for two summer now, and we can't wait to go back again next year. The camp costs just under $300... but if you enroll early, you can get a discount. Another note, it's better if campers are older than 5, and have had some kind of music lessons-- it's not a requirement but it makes a world of difference, trust me. Thanks Meter! read more

We were lucky enough to be able to have our son attend the beginner guitar lessons this past school year and have been thoroughly impressed with their lessons, customer service and Brendan, our son's instructor. They did a wonderful job teaching our son guitar and if we didn't live so far from the school would be continuing on this school year. In fact, when we went to disenroll they understood and gave us recommendations for the Eastside - great stuff! They work out of a cool converted house-to-studio environment which we think is awesome! Our kids have gone here for 3+ years, and I cannot say enough, nor thank them enough for what they have given our children. I am not just talking about learning music per se. It's the other things such as the discipline, respect, inspiration, and creativity fostered by the teachers there. My daughter has attended Meter Music School to learn viola the last 3 years. We have been very happy with the experience. Her instructor was Tim, and I highly recommend him as a teacher having a great aptitude for working with beginning students. He has always been very patient, and always has something positive to say about her efforts. My daughter is now in her middle school orchestra, and has learned to enjoy performing as a solo in recitals with Meter as well as in her school orchestra. Thanks Meter! read more

My 2 kids have been taking drum and ukelele lessons here respectively for a few years and I can't say enough good things about Meter. Skilled musicians, great teachers, organized office staff, lovely space, age-appropriate instruction, and most importantly, they make it fun for the kids so they truly WANT to practice and come to lessons each week. They are great with elementary age kids, but even as your kids approach their middle school/teen years they will think the teachers and the school are cool, which is impressive if you know teens, who tend to start thinking everything is lame at a certain point. This has not happened for us with Meter, they think their teachers are awesome and look forward to coming and playing music with them each week. Love this place!! read more

I first took lessons at Meter Music School in high school, taking guitar lessons with Brendan. He was such a patient teacher, willing to walk me through learning chord progressions and skilled fingering when I had absolutely no experience on guitar. He is amazing with all types of beginners, young or older, and I had a lot of fun learning with him. I only stopped when I graduated and went off to college. After school, I decided to sign up for lessons again, this time piano, which I had more background in. I took lessons from John, who is AMAZING. What a music theory work out. He packs in so much knowledge and musical concepts into one lesson, you feel like you just walked out of a graduate school level theory class. But he always paces to your understanding and previous theory experience, using references from popular or well known songs to tie the student into something that have experience with by ear. John taught me how strong music writing and chord progressions lead the listener, and takes them to where they didn't expect. He is smart and full of life, energy, and passion for what he does. I would highly recommend him, particularly for high school level students who maybe are interested in pursuing music in college -- his theory knowledge will give you a HUGE one up in analyzing music pieces of all types. Thank you Meter Music School, Brendan, & John, for your passion and knowledge! I hope to come back and take more lessons again soon! read more

My daughter is 6 and takes piano and voice at Meter on Tuesdays. Last week she said "I wish every day was Tuesday!". I think that sums it up. She loves going there. John is a wonderful teacher, full of positive energy. She has fun and comes out of class beaming with self confidence. Went to the open house at the Meter Music School Tonie. What an awesome experience. To see children and adults all engaged in music! My 7 year old daughter started taking guitar lessons at Meter Music School 5 months ago, and I can't say enough good things about it! She loves her sessions with Brendan and looks forward to them every week. He keeps the lessons positive, pressure free and up beat. It's been great for her self esteem! We also hired Brendan to facilitate her 'Guitar' birthday party. This is the best deal in town! - 90 minutes of music lessons and entertainment, including the making and designing of a rainstick.
