This is a long one, but everyone should read it.... Mykell has a reputation for being a "bulldog" in court. She is very good with words and speaks well during her initial consultation. She even talked about God and justice...blah blah blah. I felt at such peace when I left her practice after our first meeting. That was the last time I had that feeling with her... My husband and I were trying to get more visitation with his kids and with everything that his ex was doing, it should have been an easy case. We just wanted every other weekend, half the summer and to meet at a halfway point! First of all, she is OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced for what she actually does. I had to sell precious family heirlooms to help come up with the money she was asking for and start working full time again to help with her cost. My husband and I have 5 children together and for me not to be home before or after school to help with homework or cleaning or making a normal dinner was a lot on our marriage. We never saw each other! We finally get our day in court and the venue was changed to where my husbands kids lived... 3 hours away. It being a small town, Mykell told us it would probably take 90 days for our new date.... We had already waited 6 months for this one, but oh well, next time we would get stuff done! Well... We never heard from Mykell or her practice during that waiting time. when we got our next date we made work arrangements for replacements, found childcare to put our other kids on and off the school bus and reserved a hotel room near court. We still hadn't heard from Mykell (this is the day before court) so my husband called her to see what her game plan was. She fumbled around with her words explaining to him that she was moving her practice and needed to talk to her paralegal and would call us back. When she called back (we were about to leave town to our hotel room) she said she just emailed us a letter with her available dates that we needed to bring to court, but she was NOT ABLE TO COME TO COURT! She wanted us to call her back when we got out of court the next day to inform her what happened. We had to drive out there, spend money on the hotel, miss out on work AND look like idiots in front of my husbands ex-wife who came with a shiny new lawyer who bullied my husband all around the court room. We figured out a new date (4 months later) that worked for both lawyers and called Mykell back just as she asked. She never answered, so we called her practice who told us they would schedule an appointment with her. We were furious!!! She NEVER called us back and never gave us the address to her new location that we needed to bring the new order to. Less than two months later, we receive a WITHDRAW ORDER in the mail due to "non payments". Now, please know that we NEVER made a late payment to her. We never received a bill from her explaining what she was doing with the thousands of dollars we gave her, no update with our care, no permission asked to spend any more of our money. We had an "outstanding balance" for God knows what from when SHE DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP TO COURT! PLUS she wanted us to pay her $2000 in 4 days to I guess drive to court? I thought we already paid her to show up to court (which she didn't do) she wouldn't take payments due to us having an "outstanding balance" from something we never knew about. The only way she contacted my husband was through email which went to his junk mail. We never received a call or any hard mail... NOT ONCE! That being said, we signed her withdraw order and wasted a year of our lives getting documents and recordings and receipts and PAYING HER FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Now, we have to withdraw all the charges and my husband will not be able to be a father to his kids like he should be. Mykell is a bulldog... She definitely stands up to that name. However, she bullies her clients too and doesn't really care about them our the lives she is stirring up. She is unorganized and only in it for the money. She is more interested in her personal trainer and to add to her in home gym. If you make $400/hr and don't care about your money, by all means, I'm sure she is great. To normal people who are struggling to make ends meet and need someone on your side to defend you when you are being treated unfairly.... She is NOT for you. Please take my advice. We don't even know how we are going to get out of this financial hole that she helped put us in. read more

Waste of money. Lost paperwork charged me 9 grand and didn't even fight for me to win . She's lazy and her office smells.

I spoke to Ms. Messman at the initial consultation and never again over the course of a year. The office fumbled around with my paperwork and unnecessarily delayed my divorce until my amicable divorce with no kids took a year when others I knew took just months! The office also never reached out to me unless they were looking for more money and I pretty much had to nag the cap out of them to get anything done. They even informed my ex about the divorce before I was aware. I found out online by checking the court websites! Pretty much the most frustrating year of my life. read more

Mykell Messman is amazing. I originally started with another lawyer and was getting nowhere. Messman was highly recommended to me by several sheriff deputies who had seen her in action. She is brutally honest which I respected. She didnt try to make me spend my hard earned money in areas that werent unnecessary. I was going through an extremely difficult divorce with a sociopath. Custody, child support and harassment were huge issues I had been dealing with. Messman resolved everything and was able to negotiate EVERYTHING I wanted in one single mediation. She does not play around and sees right through the B.S.. We were able to completely avoid going to court and paying tens of thousands because of her skills. Messman was a bit more expensive than my previous attorney but you get what you pay for. Don't make the mistake of paying less because you will get less in return. Well unfortunately I HAVE to give her a star, if I could I would give her absolutely no stars at all! My divorce with her took way longer than it should've. I even had to hire a different lawyer to finish it! The only times I heard from Mykell Messman was when there was a problem, then she would just magically fix it, in her opinion, then charge me for it. She even tried charging me for a phone call to the other party to talk about a phone call! I can't believe I wasted time AND money on her when the whole time it felt like she was working for my ex-husband. I am now divorced 3 1/2 years later no thanks to her. And it gets even worse, she's still trying to charge me over two thousand dollars! For what?! She didn't do anything but cause me headaches and charge me for it...I would recommend my second lawyer one hundred times, no a thousand times over Messman!!! read more
