I'd like to share with you my story, but first would like to tell you that my back is feeling better than ever since I first injured it. The staff at Messinger Chiropractic & Essex Physical Therapy is amazing and they helped me immensely in getting to this point of better back health. At first I was skeptical about going to a chiropractor, but now I am a believer. I have two herniated discs and several bulging discs in my lower back. I first came to Messinger Chiropractic & Essex Physical Therapy because a surgeon told me that I would inevitably need back surgery in the next 10-20 years, and that I should do what I could to keep my back as healthy as possible and to get on a serious physical therapy regiment. When I first met with Dr. Mark Messinger he spoke with me about his approach to back health, and how his background in chiropractic and physical therapy impacted his views on healing and maintaining the spine, and how his techniques for healing can differ from other chiropractors. Not only could he help me get my spine moving correctly, as most chiropractors attempt to do, but he could also give me the instruction and facilities/tools to strengthen the muscles that support my spine. The first several appointments with Dr. Messinger we worked on getting my back moving property, unlocking some of the tighter areas of my spine through adjustments, and working out knots in the muscles around my spine with an ultra-sound machine paired with an electric current. I would also go on a roller bed (who knows what it's really called?) and use a muscle stimulation machine to relax my spine and back muscles. My back would feel amazing after those visits! Once Dr. Messinger was happy with the movement of my spine we started working on strengthening the muscles that support my spine. Since I could not run with my back condition I utilized the PT room's elliptical machine to warm up, and would then work out my lower back, abs, hip flexors and legs using their equipment. The PT staff is great and is there all the time to give you one-on-one instruction and advice. After losing a bit of weight and getting back a bunch of my flexibility, I can now jog again without irritating my back. If you are in the position that I was, whether as serious or not, I would highly recommend making an appointment with Messinger Chiropractic & Essex PT. I went to the Haverhill office but there are also offices in Andover and Lawrence. Every time you bend over to put your shoes and socks on and don't feel any pain, you will thank them...and me! read more

Dr Messinger and his entire team are amazing, I have been through many chiropractors and PT in my life and I have never had an experience like this. At my first appointment Dr Messinger really cared about what I had to say, he respected the fact that I know my body better than anyone and didn't try to tell me how or what I was feeling. Dr Messinger truly listened and formed his treatment plan based on my body and my needs. I have always been hesitant with adjustment but I have full faith and trust in him and he doesnt do anything without explaining what it is he is doing first in detail, also he does this in a way that he makes sure you fully understand without making you feel like he's talking to you like your a child as some doctors tend to do. Dr Messinger also makes sure you are comfortable with all adjustments prior to doing them and gives you the option to not do anything your unsure about without making you feel bad for not. I have had amazing relief from my pain since starting treatment with Dr Messinger and his team and I look forward to continuing treatment! read more

I've been putting off getting my neck looked at for two years. It started when we were fixing our house to sell and I kept telling myself it would go away. I was scared to try chiropractic or physical therapy so I pushed through the pain. This month I woke up in so much pain, I couldn't even turn my neck. I had waited so long that I was suffering with headaches nearly daily, unable to exercise for fear of hurting it more and the daily anxiety of "will I have a headache today" was taking over my life. After my first visit I noticed a difference, I finally felt like there was some hope to this problem that felt so big for so so long. Now that I have gone several times, I cannot believe the difference. I haven't I've felt this good in years and it's so freeing to wake up in the morning and not be in pain anymore. I'm so grateful for the care I'm receiving here The staff is all friendly and easy to work with, the facility is clean and calming and Dr. Messinger is so kind and wonderful at what he does. I cannot recommend them enough!j read more

Dr. Messenger runs a very well organized and professional practice. After just 4 visits so far, he has addressed all of my painful areas and is already reducing my discomfort and pain and increasing my range of motion. His expertise in both chiropractic and physical therapy is a real plus. Everyone in his office is practicing safe Covid precautions, which makes me feel much more comfortable with the hands on care. I have been seen on time for my appointments, and staff are friendly and attentive. They keep very much on schedule, a difficult feat for such a busy office. They are also very responsive to urgent needs for extra appointments, such as unexpected increases in pain. They will make room for you in the schedule the same day. I couldnt be happier, and highly recommend this practice. read more

"I have been going to Messinger Chiropractic for 3 years. When I went in there for the first time I could barely turn my neck. It wasn't long after my neck was feeling better. The staff is amazing. When you go in there they make you feel like family. I recently told Dr. Messinger I was having trouble focusing my eyes. He started to work on the muscle in my neck to see if that would help. I was also trying eye dr. had a cat scan and an ultra sound down on my carotid artery. Dr. Messenger continued to work on me as I went through all of this.He told me in the beginning it is probably muscular. As it turns out, it is and everything he is doing has helped my vision tremendously. I can't thank him and his staff for the kind and thoughtful ways they treat their patients." Cindy B read more

Dr. Mark goes ABOVE & BEYOND most other chiropractors. He offers a few services before you receive your adjustment. FIRST, you have the roller-bed treatment to loosen up the sore muscles and joints. SECOND, you are offered a heating pad or electrical stim to alleviate the deeper pain. THIRD, you are given specialized isometric exercises to work on. Lastly, you receive a wonderful adjustment from Dr. Mark himself. He is highly qualified and a very caring person! Wonderful, attentive staff. read more

Hands down the best chiropractor I've been to! His combination of physical therapy and chiropractic experience makes for a treatment that goes beyond your typical chiropractor and works wonders. Neck and back pain are all but gone after just over a month of treatment. He ALWAYS takes time to make you feel heard and like you're his only patient. Highly recommend.
