What a joy to interact with skilled butchers at Nitsches who know their craft so well. I am visiting to cook with my young grandnieces, so the butchers cut into cubes the top quality steak for the fondue, and the ground the pork and beef for the Swedish meatballs we made. Oh, what a difference that expertise made in how both dishes tased. In stock were other products so hard to find, e.g., lingonberry jam to go with the Swedish meatballs. The Mexican (jalepeno) style pasta salad is amazing. If you have not shopped here, do yourself a favor. You'll get great ideas for menus you may not have used recently or inspire you to try something for the first time. Since we usually shop at Nino Salvaggios, (which we really like a lot) it was an easy comparison between the two. Randazzos carries a lot of products that Nino's doesn't and vice versa. So it was nice picking up some foods that Nino's doesn't have. One thing that stands out not only here, but anywhere is the friendliness of cashiers (or lack of). Nino's cashiers are time and time again much friendlier and something as simple as that is what a customer remembers and keeps them coming back since it's the last interaction with the store as they exit. I may still shop here occasionally though because it's closer to home, but it won't be my first choice.

The chowder had Great flavor like at a restaurant They even sell Safe Pet Calcium Chloride for the snow in the winter months along with different needed items outside the store under the building such as Spring Flowers, Fall Flowers and Holiday Items. The store areas are always clean and plenty of employees working hard to assist you when you have a question or looking for a item. Its a Family business where customers are treated as family too! We have a few other fruit markets in the area, but this has become my latest favorite. Every twist and turn through the store offers another product to try. We came in for nothing in particular but left with a cart full. I like that they have half pies for smaller families. Their homemade soups are really good. We tried the chicken lemon rice and the chicken pot pie. Their fruits and veggies are fresh, unlike the grocery stores at times. Oh and that freshly popped smell when we walked in had us making a beeline straight to the popcorn counter. Their fresh salsa is pretty good and their homemade chips I really like. The spinach artichoke dip is very good too. We'll be going back soon for another round of 'let's try this'. We've only just begun our taste testing.

Starting with an order placed last year I received a very foul jar of pickled red hot sausage and thankfully they were willing to replace it. Sadly the next order they shorted me 1 jar and had to contact them.... took weeks to receive it and actually had to email them to remind them!! What prompted this review comes with my 3rd order in a row with a problem. This time its about a promo code. Partly my fault as i failed to review my purchase.... but caught an error with 1 of my 2 items as it was not discounted. I contacted them and they instantly shipped the order without resolving the problem. Another email was sent to them and after the coast was clear they told me the pickled sausage i ordered was not part of the promo. Nowhere in the ad shows they excluded any form of pickled sausage and in fact it says shop all of our products now!!! They then pulled the silent treatment on me, thus screwing me over on an ad they knew was false advertising and admitted it but refused to make things right. Well 3 orders in a row with problems and the last one goes without resolution. They got a few bucks more and lost a long time customer. Was it worth it? Guess when your head grows the brain doesn't grow with it. I have no choice but to shop for a better company. These people have become a problem at all levels.

But lately, they've been modernizing and expanding -- and unfortunately, the prices have been expanding right along with it. The perfect example is their store-made roast beef. Just this summer it was $6.99 a pound, and now it's jumped to $9.99 a pound -- a 42.9% increase. That roast beef was the one door-buster item that kept me coming back. I was in their store every other day, picking up two pounds at a time. But now that it's become a popular product, they seem to feel the need to gouge the customer. It's disheartening. They've always run on the higher side for pricing, but at least that roast beef balanced things out. With that gone, there's just no incentive left. Compare it to Cattleman's Market in Center Line, where New York strip steaks run about $7.99 a pound versus nearly $14 here. Lunch meat is also considerably cheaper at Cattleman's. It's disappointing to watch a place I once looked forward to visiting turn into just another overpriced stop. They can keep their roast beef -- I'll take my business elsewhere.

Huge trays of macaroni and cheese, big vats of pickles, tubs of ice creams, jugs of barbecue sauce, 5lb trays of gyro meat and huge bags of frozen fluffy Greek pitas are just a few items that I've purchased on more than a few occasions. GFS literally has everything you need for bulk item shopping, which saves you money in the long run. They have produce, meat (fresh and frozen), seafood, dairy, deli items either already pre sliced or bulk items that they will slice for you. They have a great international selection, cases of beverages including energy drinks, pop, water, and even Jarritos! What I love most about GFS is their huge selection of disposable products. Lots of different size containers, plates, cups, condiment containers and those little paper boats to serve nachos. I come to Gordon Food store for all my party supply needs. Last summer I threw a graduation party for my son for 109 people most of the food and supplies to throw him a huge graduation bash came from GFS. I made lamb gyro pitas, Italian sausage and peppers, Italian party subs, pigs in a blanket, burgers and hotdogs, chicken wings- all of which came from GFS! The food was a huge hit! I love that they are opened 7am-8pm Monday-Saturday, and are open on Sundays too 9am-6pm. Makes for great shopping 7 days a week. They employees are always helpful and friendly.
