Had a pretty good experience here. Most of the food hit the spot. The margarita I had was amazing. The service was decent, though formal instead of friendly, and the atmosphere was laidback. Anyway, the misses came with the popcorn shrimp that wasn't appealing at all. Too greasy in my opinion. Then my date's virgin margarita wasn't sweet at all. They touched it up for her, though. Still, my entree was so delicious and filling. I most certainly will return to see what I can try next. And it's not overpriced like so many of these other establishments. read more

Found this place using Yelp while traveling back to Atlanta. It sits off an access road to 75 in McDonough. Traffic was really heavy so figured taking a pit stop made sense. It seemed like a fairly normal Mexican place when I walked in. Nothing stood out to me. I headed to the bar to grab some food. The bartender was nice, although she mostly spoke Spanish to her co-workers coming up to the bar. I started off with a medium sized margarita and they brought chips and salsa over. The margarita was just ok (semi strong, lacking on flavor) and the salsa was surprisingly bland. No kick, no flavor. Big bummer. I ordered the street tacos with fish and asked for no charro beans (only eating fish currently). It came out as requested except they did include the charro beans. The tacos were good, no complaints there and the salsa verde was a tad spicier than my salsa. Overall, it was an ok stop. If you're looking for average, this place will fit your need there. Also, be careful walking to the front from the bar, big step down that seemed like two steps should be there. read more

I had been accused of taking my alcohol beverage to my car in a to go cup and the manager (her name is Megan) violated me and opened my car door and it another car she slammed my door open and asked to check my drink the whole time I had coke. My server was very accommodating and courteous. My food was mostly delicious. I tend to like my black beans more in the refried side but they were still good. Man. I don't even know where to start. Management has changed. I spoke with him on the phone this afternoon after my experience. No apology was given, just a bunch of irrational explanations of the reasons why they charge for to go items. I called in an order for myself and a coworker. When I arrived the food was already packaged and on the counter already. I was 5 minutes early so I thought this either a good thing or a bad thing. When I went to hand the woman my card to pay I also asked for one more salsa. She said it would be extra. "Why? I asked. It's free if I stay and dine. Then she proceeds to tell me that if I separate my orders, meaning swipe my card twice, then she can give me an extra salsa. Not only cannot I not even conceive to understand the correlation between the two I explained to her that, that it only hurts them because they pay credit card service fees to even be able to accept the payments. She mumbled some more about it and I said forget it just swipe my card as one order. When I get back to the office, which is only 5 minutes away we open our boxes and the food is ice cold and stiff. Like it's been sitting out and prepared for over well over 30-35 minutes. I couldn't help but call and ask to speak to the manager. He said not only will they charge for to go salsa with a to go order but now (hence under new management) they will charge you if you have dined in the building!!!! I said so, if I just ate a full meal at a table, paid and am leaving but I stop and ask for a salsa or a to go cup will you bring me a new check for .25 for that too? YES. He says. Unbelievable. Our favorite Mexican restaurant in McDonough! Great service: always greeted at the door, chips & salsa served right away as we're seated. Food always arrives quickly. Good food: Lots of options, good portions, super yummy! Great price: Go for their lunch specials, M-F until 2pm. You can get a full meal for about $6!! You can't beat that! *Tip: Try the molcajete!!! CHECK YOUR BILL!!! I have frequent this restaurant for about a year now. The food is very good. There were 2 of us there for dinner and service and food was very good. When the bill came, I noticed the waitress has already calculated her tip on the receipt and has added to the bill. Not sure if she put the tip down since I am not Caucasian and thought I wouldn't tip her. -Argumentative wait staff- waiter would not let us order chicken and steak on our nachos because the menu has it listed as chicken OR steak. He offered to pay extra and he said we could order the nachos that came with chicken, steak, and shrimp. We told him we were allergic to shrimp but would pay for that one if we could just get extra chicken or steak in place of the shrimp. He literally laughed at us and said that's not possible. So we just got the steak nachos which were soggy and gross. -very weak margaritas: I had two house margaritas that were $10.99 each. They were loaded down with ice and I could not taste any tequila. I was basically paying for watered down drink mix -rat in outdoor dining area: I saw a rat run by our table and disappear into a hole in the wall. It grossed me out but there are plenty of cheap motels next door so I figured it just came from there. However, the more I thought about it after I got home, I remembered that the outdoor seating area is walled off and there's no way to get in and out without entering the restaurant. So that rat had to come from inside. So I highly recommend you stay away from this place. The atmosphere is depressing, drinks are watered down/overpriced, wait staff is lazy and rude, and there are rats. read more

Mine was half the size of hers and looked like someone had chewed it already. Came here to celebrate my mother's birthday. We had a party of 8 people including my infant. The location of the table we were seated at was HORRIBLE. Will not be back. Ordered the mesquite dip and got cheese dip with loads of hair instead... the waiter was nice not sure what his name was. My grandpa wanted the manger cause you know.. it looked like a barber shop in my food, but he never showed up, so we just paid & left. The waiter took one of my meals off cause of the issue. Very long wait over 2 hours after being promised an hour. Albeit was on Cinco De Mayo. Two tables remained at their tables for over an hour after the checks had been cleared due to them having dance parties with inappropriate dancing in front of children. When asked, the manager simply shrugged and went to the back not to be seen again. Management should prevent these kinds of disruptions. Stopped on the way to Florida from Indiana! The food here was excellent! Staff was amazing! My daughter left her invisiline in her napkin and we left got to the parking lot and realized! The staff put on gloves and immediately started going through garbage! I grabbed gloves and together we dug, until another waitress found them in another bin! I couldn't be more thankful to them. We really enjoyed mesquite until we took our two pups. We took them out to the patio. Well mesquite has no signs saying no dogs allowed. Well lesson learned. The manager sent one of his employees out to say that the manager will only all our dogs on the patio if they have service dog papers. First off why would the manager not come out and tell us himself. Secondly we've never been kicked off a patio for having our dogs w us before. We will not be going back ever again. read more

I have frequented this restaurant a number of times. Up until a couple of months ago we were going weekly. In fact, it is our restaurant of choice for good Mexican food. However, after a near death experience on Monday (10/30) I WILL NOT BE RETURNING!! I specifically asked the bartender (Rico Suave' as he said) who was our waiter to ensure that my chicken quesadilla did not come in contact with ANY shellfish due to my severe allergy. After ONLY two small bites of my food, I became very lightheaded feeling like I wanted to pass out and shortly after struggling to breathe. Thankfully before my friends walked me outside for air they were able to retrieve my epipen from my purse and ultimately had to administer it because my breaths became shorter and shorter. My fingers began to cramp up and I had no use of them. My face and legs became tingly and numb. I had to be helped onto the stretcher once the paramedics arrived. I have never had a stroke but those symptoms were liken unto what I had read about them. There is no other explanation for that allergic reaction than the fact that either the waiter did not effectively convey the message to the cook or the cook simply did not oblige. Either way I cannot in any way entrust my well being to this restaurant ever again. Unfortunately I was rushed to Piedmont Henry and was treated with IV, Benadryl, and high doses of steroids before being released. I called the restaurant today on 11/1 and asked for the store manager. Jose' came to the phone. I explained to him what had happened on Monday because as the store manager he had not been made aware that a customer was taken away by ambulance from HIS STORE! Really?!?! I told him that there should be some accountability because I could have died. He then became very defensive and I said "first of all I am not going to tolerate the attitude because I nearly died in YOUR restaurant.; However, I do wish to hear back from someone regarding this?" I asked if I needed to call someone else and he had the audacity to say that maybe I needed to. Okay now I am pissed and thus the reason this review will be posted on EVERY SITE KNOWN TO MAN!! Jose finally took my number and I said that I am expecting to hear back from him or his manager. It is really sad that 1) you can't go out for a decent meal and trust that your food will be prepared according to your preference and 2) management sucks so bad that they really don't give a darn. I certainly won't be returning there and I will do all I can within my power to ensure that it doesn't happen to someone else. Food allergies and serious and can certainly be deadly. I am thankful for my friends that were with me and their quick response as well as the first responders. I have never experienced a reaction like that and I certainly don't want to EVER again! read more

Ambience nice, service passable but the quality of food was poor! I ordered a special consisting a steak burrito w/ cheese sauce, rice, bean and with a tamal al a carte. My food arrived from the kitchen lukewarm, it was over seasoned ( too salty) and the tamal was hard, cold and dry! I rated this establishment with 2 stars because our waiter did return to ask for identification as stated on the back of my credit card. Because of my experience, I will not be patronizing this establishment too soon. read more
