Part of a group of restaurants in the Milagro Centre. The atmosphere is colorful and vibrant inside, and my chihuahua loves the decent outdoor seating area. I've only had the cravable vegetarian tacos here...even though the menu deserves lots of exploring. Beverage-wise, I'm disappointed they don't have Mexican coke, and my friend wanted a non-alcoholic beer, which isn't offered. From what I can tell from my winter visits in the daytime, this will be the perfect destination for summer nights. read more

My family and I love this restaurant, we've been coming here for years. The food is wonderful and the space is lovely. The service can get a little slow when there's a lot of people but that's to be expected. I don't like that they charge you for tortillas and the chips and salsa but I guess that's the economy we're in now. read more

Not impressed. I went here after reading about the chicken Mole in Sacramento magazine. Mole had no depth to it, the chickens flavoring actually competed with it. The chicken was boiled? Almost too soft, like it was meant to be shredded. The side of rice was undercooked and tasteless! The whole dish was a weird mix of off flavors and textures. The worst part though is that their online lunch menu says the mole is $13. Pretty standard but still too much for the quality. HOWEVER, the actual price was $16.24!!! It's very misleading and the only reason I ended up going because I checked the menu beforehand. When I mentioned it to staff she said management hasn't updated the website and didn't seem bothered. Won't be back and don't think it's good value for the quality. The best part was the mango that is served instead of chips and salsa. I've been wanting to come here for quite some time. I'm so disappointed that I waited so long! The food here is phenomenal! We started with "simple" chips and salsa. The chips are fresh made, salsas the same. You get 3; hot, a salsa verde, and a mild. All 3 were wonderful! Not too hot, on point with the flavor. After that, we ordered the wild Alaskan cod fish tacos and the carnitas a la Mercado. I can't tell you which I preferred. The tacos come on a blue corn tortilla, the carnitas with plain corn tortillas. The sauce and slaw on the tacos were to die for and the fish itself was well cooked, flakey, and down right excellent. The carnitas had a nice Smokey flavor, and came with a salsa (that's 4 different salsas we've had so far now), white rice, and beans. The carnitas were moist, flavorful, and excellent! I had great service and great food. They have several vegan items on the menu. I would have to say the Mole negro was one of the best vegan dishes I've ever had. I had a bite of my friend's cauliflower taco and it was quite yummy she dipped her tacos in my mole sauce , I had plenty. My food wasn't very photogenic but I will try to include photo any way. Best vegetarian Mexican food in Sacramento. Hands down. It's unbelievable. The building is also super cool. It's like eating in a garden. They have huge tvs with sports playing all the time. There's also a really pretty courtyard outside with a fire pit and fountain. This is an IDEAL date place. read more

Al Pastor Tacos: Grilled pineapple salsa help profile the flavor of perfectly roasted chunks of pork 3. Their desserts look Delicious.. however wasn't able to try them on this visit, will next time! Hands down great staff and chefs, very friendly and they go out of their ways to ensure your happiness! The restaurant is connected to a sort-of Fancy Food Court, which also hosts Insight Coffee, Ghiotto Gelato (highly recommend), Jaynee Cakes, River City Brewing, & Fish Face Poke Bar. I live in Sacramento, close to Midtown and it was only about 17-20 min drive (after rush hour). It's a great close getaway from the same'ol Sacramento Eats & gives you a refreshingly new scenery. My drink was 3/4 ice, very little margarita. We order 2, fish taco dinners, very good! We were charged for chips and salsa ,bill also had a kitchen help fee? Terrible service. I ordered my food for pick up 2 hours in advance, 40 minutes after the scheduled time it was not ready and they were barely going to prepare it. Total lack of hygiene of the cashier-waiter, he touches money, credit cards, pick up dirty dishes from the tables and then he goes to package and distribute food without even using hand sanitizer, an excellent way to spread the virus. They are much more efficient at Cantina Azteca. Pésimo servicio. Dirty tables, slow service, guacamole and chips for $13 and the guacs not even made. No lime, no lemons, fish taco is dry, mostly breading. Cold refried beans and rice. The Drinks are good at least. Usually served double beans for no rice. That was it for 14.95. When I came in, no one wanted to take my order. 1st girl said stand at the bar. He'll take your order. Bartender was very busy. Mgr looking guy came by & asked what I needed. Said I wanted to order to go. He called one of the servers to come over who never did. Finally, after 15 mins, bartender, Jorge, took my order. Oh. My. Goodness. This was DIVINE! We enjoyed the Queso Fundido - we ordered it without the chorizo, and it was SO DELICIOUS. The most flavorful Queso Fundido we have EVER had - and we have travelled all over the United States and Mexico and NEVER have had such a delicious dip! Yummmmmmmm. Their homemade tortilla chips were also delicious. We were also served this dip with fresh corn tortillas which were divine. My husband enjoyed the Mercado Margarita, and I really enjoyed the Pepino Picante Margarita. Both were out of this world! For entrees, my husband had the taco special which he said was delicious. I enjoyed cheese enchiladas. They were very accommodating - they made those for me since I do not eat meat. And the pinto beans! So FLAVORFUL! Normally restaurants serve you some mashed bland flavorless pinto beans. These pinto beans were incredible! Service was extremely friendly, so accommodating, and absolutely...PERFECT! The customer service here is amazing. The food is out of this world! We have been to Mesa about 5 times, and just for brunch. I can't imagine what the rest of the menu tastes like! My husband has been here for happy hour with coworkers, and says the margaritas are amazing (he's picky when it comes to Margs) and their salsa is very tasty. I am in the area during the mornings, so it has just been more convenient for brunch. The staff is welcoming, knowledgable, and flexible with food requests. Their Mexican Coffee is my FAVORITE! It is sweet with cinnamon, and tastes like Christmas in a cup. Highly, highly recommend this spot! We have taken our out of town family members here twice. I have had the divorced eggs once, and the chilaquiles the rest of the time I have gone. The red sauce is very flavorful, and the chips are drenched in it, but the chips are thick, so there is still a crunch even if the meal is eaten as a leftover! I love that they have a vegan menu! I got the enchiladas and everything on the plate had a flavor on its own so every bite was a delicious medley in my mouth. The mango margarita was also very yummy with its smoky hints. We went on Valentine's Day so it was a bit busy. Good thing we didn't need the servers very often because they got things right and we didn't need to hunt them down for anything else we needed. Seems like they have musicians on certain nights. It added more to the overall ambiance. It's a casual place, but still has an air of something special. read more

Never been to a "Mesa Mercado" place before where there were a variety of shops and eatery places, but I definitely wish we had more of these places around! Atmosphere - Very nice, modern, and has something for everyone. Beers, sweets, tacos! I mean how can you go wrong right? My favorite thing about this place is the amount of open seating and patio space to chill, hangout, and chat with friends. Great weekend hangout spot. Food - I had the tacos from the area and thought they were unique! Never had tacos with pineapples in them, but I sure did like them. The dessert bar there is DELICIOUS! This is not your traditional Mexico food! We had, Poblano soup, Mole Oaxaqueno, Enchiladas Rojas and Arrachera ( grilled flat iron steak). The mole was delicious and there was not over powering cocoa flavor. The Enchilada had a homemade sauce and was lighter than your standard enchilada sauce. The steak was so tender it melted in your mouth. I never would have ordered the poblamo soup. It was rich with just the right amount of spice ( not overwhelming heat). All of the food was fresh. I strongly recommend this restaraunt, unless your a big fan of El Torito or Garcias (then you might not like this fair). read more

So sad to write this. We have frequented Mesa Mercado a couple of times a year since the very first night they opened. Last night we had a C- dinner. The guacamole had a bunch of cilantro on the side that was sad...wilted, old, ready to be disposed of. My dinner had 0 taste and was luke warm. My husband's enchiladas were warm, not hot. We had the feeling the food was leftover and had been under heat lamps. The fact it was served within ten minutes of ordering supports this thought. My husband's beer was flat and warm. Best Mexican food I've had in awhile. As a vegan, I was surprised and happy that they had a whole vegan menu! They also have an extensive regular menu. Our server, Pedro, was so nice and made sure we got everything we needed, it was probably the best service I've received in my life! Our food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and flavorful. We even requested to take a container of their house made salsa home. After our meal, we felt full but not exhausted, like you feel after a large meal sometimes. I can't wait to come back! read more

I got the cucumber spiced margarita and the carnitas. The drink had a little too much agave but the carnitas were a ridiculously huge portion. The meat was cooked perfectly as it melted in your mouth. It was almost like a pork shoulder. I can eat a lot and I still left a lot of meat leftover. I wasn't too hip on the type of rice they served but I'm sure some people will like it. It is a huge area inside. I feel like they are wasting space as they could have more seats for customers but that's just the business side of me thinking. But around the bar there is plenty of room to stand. One thing that kind of sucked was that I wanted to watch the game there but there are no TV's in the restaurant. Well at least I didn't see any sitting at the bar. My friend ordered the enchiladas and she loved them. The bartenders and waiters were quit attentive to the point of being almost too attentive. Asking every few minutes if everything was okay or if we needed something. Asking to take our plates when we had told them before we were still working on it. All in all it's a beautiful location and the food is good. The service is good but kind of annoying as being too attentive. But it's better than not being attentive at all. read more
