We tried this restaurant out for the first time! We enjoyed the colorful decor on the ceiling. However, the seats need to be steamed clean because it was very dirty! We actually switched to another table because the one we were at did not appear to be clean. The steak, chicken enchilada mole with rice and beans were fine. My fiancé really enjoyed it bc the meat was more on the rare side. We shared the entree and also ordered the chips and salsa which was $4, so for those who like complimentary chips and salsa, it is not free here. Our server looked pretty busy and we felt sorry for him bc he seemed to be exhausted. The place didn't look too busy and there were a lot of empty tables, probably 3 other tables were occupied. Because of the higher price we probably won't be back unless we go with a group for happy hour.

So good we got some vegan enchiladas to go for my daughter.

We've joined the sacveganchefchallenge, and our first stop was Mesa Mercado, just WOW! What a great start! Our server was attentive and patient. We were pretty early before the dinner rush, so we could pick his brain about the dishes we ordered. They didn't have official names for their two dishes, but both were incredible. The first was crispy tostadas topped with nopales and a rich tomatillo sauce. The second was enchiladas filled with nopales and mushrooms, also drenched in that same amazing sauce. Both dishes were outstanding, but that tomatillo sauce stole the show! We wanted to lick our plates clean... but somehow resisted. They also have a vegan section on their regular menu, so we couldn't resist trying one of those dishes too and ordered the molè with plantains. The molè was rich, sweet, and deeply chocolaty, so we asked for another small dish of THAT tomatillo sauce. Poured it over the top, and boom the perfect hit of savory we needed. #sacveganchefchallenge #vegan #eatout I took a short video of the environment. It was so cheerful and fun.

Met family for dinner and wanted to check out Mesa Mercado. We were seated right away as we were there around 5pm. Happy hour time. Good choices for happy hour menu. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Our server brought menus and told us about the menu. We decided on an appetizer of fresh guacamole (which you mix yourself so you can add your spices). Very fresh! We ordered a margarita and a mojito. Both were good. We also got the Chili Relleno and the fish tacos. Our server was friendly and service was good.

I've been coming to this spot for years, and it continues to be one of my favorite low key go to places. I even have a regular order here (which is rare for me) the Carnitas a la Mercado! Let me tell you, it's delish. I'm a sucker for pulled pork, and the way they pair it with salsa, beans, and rice? Chef's kiss. It hits every time. The staff here is consistently friendly, they're around when you need something but don't hover or interrupt, which I really appreciate. The seating is cozy, and yes, I'm even a fan of the chairs, they're cute and comfy. Whether I'm catching up with girlfriends over margaritas and tacos, or enjoying a laid back date night with my boo, this place never disappoints. It's got that easy, chill vibe that keeps me coming back. Plus, being located in the Milagro Centre, it's practically a tradition at this point to walk over and grab some gelato after. Win-win. No, it's not a fancy five-star restaurant with white tablecloths and polished service, but it doesn't need to be. It's the kind of spot you fall in love with because it's reliably good, welcoming, and just feels like your place. Highly recommend.

This restaurant is part of a food court. On one end is a pub and on the other end is a Japanese restaurant and Italian restaurant. We have eaten at the Pub twice and really liked it. We thought we'd venture out and try the Mexican restaurant. They have a huge private lot so there is no need to worry about parking. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Due to the rain we opted to eat indoors. Outside in front of the Italian restaurant was a Saxaphone player. The music was beautiful but way too cold to really enjoy it outside. The ambiance is very festive. Their celling is very colorful with parasols hanging and tin stars hanging. The restaurant has a courtyard feel as there are no back walls and it opens up to a ice cream shop and the walkway to the bathroom. One downfall is the chips and salsa are not complimentary. That is a big shortcoming. They should always complimentary at Mexican restaurants. The chips were really good and so was the trio of salsas. There wasn't enough salsa to match with the chips. They salsa containers need to be bigger. I got and enjoyed the: Nopales con Carne de Puerco en Salsa Roja18.5 Fall off the bone tender braised pork short ribs in a rich tomatillo, guajillo chile, serrano and nopal sauce. You'll experience each remarkable  avor in this dish! Served with creamy refried pinto beans and fluffy white rice to capture any extra sauce. I was surprised that they serve it with white rice. I would think they would serve it with a Mexican style rice. The white rice was good, but not what I would expect from a Mexican Restaurant. My husband got the fish Tacos. I had a few bites. It wasn't my thing. They tasted a bit too fishy to me. I'm thinking that the fish wasn't that fresh.

We first attended this restaurant about a year ago. We visit restaurant maybe once every three months. One waiter always remembers us. I grew to love the whitefish ceviche. Our last visit, he recommended the tamarindo chicken wings, delicious.

I grew up in the S.F Mission District and I know that Mexican Food does NOT have to be spicy to be tasty. We came her for dinner and I explained my aversion to spicy AND how cilantro tastes like soap to me. I got a wonderful plate of carnitas with yummy beans and rice with pico (no cilantro) on the side. You mix your own guacamole so, you get to determine salt and onions and (get this!) cilantro. My BF ordered the short ribs and really enjoyed them. We will be back again and again and again!

We host our monthly book club get together at Milagro and it's a must to order from Mesa Mercado. Chris is our absolute favorite! He so kind to acknowledge allergies, makes the most amazing drinks and has the BEST customer service! THANK YOU Chris!

I've been to Milagro several times before but this was my first time trying Mesa Mercado! The staff was very friendly when my friends and I walked in, they greeted and seated us immediately. I went with their Mexican wet nachos as my entree. It was delicious, the chips were house made and fried to perfection, it had toppings of beans, guacamole, salsa and cheese. The food was fresh and the staff was very friendly, I wish they did brunch so I could bring my friends here on a weekend morning.

    Mesa Mercado - bar again

Saturday, 7/27/2024 - We tried Mesa Mercado restaurant for the 1st time. Address is 6241 Fair Oaks Blvd, Ste B, (Milagro Ctr) Carmichael, CA 95608. There is plenty of parking here. Upon arrival... Pros 1) restaurant looked clean and tidy. 2) I saw there was a bar, buy didn't see anyone drinking there. 3) we didn't have to wait long. You do have to wait to be seated. 4) our server was very nice and attentive. Professional. He checked on us several times. The made sure we had water in our water cups. 5) our table, utensils cups, plates were all clean. 6) chips and salsa was good. Cost $4.00. 7) they provided a little complimentary mango. 8) all of our food dishes were good. I liked them all. 9) our little one didn't like her chips much. She didn't like the sour cream on it. I liked it though! It came with a churro and whip cream as dessert. Churro was freshly made and delicious. Kids plate and churro was $10.00 10) water tasted good. No funky taste. 11) Cons 1) they charge a $2.00 kitchen appreciation fee on our tab. We didn't see it till we left. So couldn't ask them what that was. Conclusion I liked this restaurant. It was cute. Staffs were very nice and attentive. Foods were good. I'd go here again.

Well, I don't usually do this, but this used to be one of our favorite spots. We hadn't come here in some time and boy is it not the same. The restaurant itself does not look as tidy the chairs you sit on are extremely filthy... while the service is still good and the margaritas are tasty. The food itself is not what it used to be. We both went home with stomach aches and were sad to see a good place go to waste.

Our first impression was a cool, small, and family owned business, plus the owner was very nice and helpful. We got a few things to try, and we were not disappointed with any of it. The burrito was good, and it was super filled and super large. Definitely recommend getting a burrito if you're a hungry lad. The papusa was one of the best papusas I've had around this area, super flavorful with a slightly crispy outside. It also had an insane cheese pull, definitely recommend trying one of these. Lastly the tamale was amazing, it was packed with flavor and one of the better tamales I've had in a long time because it was actually moist and not dry and overcooked. Another big recommendation from me. Overall if you're in the mood for some Mexican food please go here and support an amazing local business. Tamales and Papusas are a super recommended!

I used it and the salsa to flavor the black beans. However, I really just wanted grilled steak. I should have ordered steak fajitas, a grilled steak burrito or quesadilla, or a carne asada plate. The Steak a la Chicana was a generous portion, which is definitely 2 meals for me. Cilantro rice wasn't anything special. The SWEET CORN TAMALITO is yummy comfort. The crispy chicken tacos were on Old corn tortillas they were not crispy they were rubbery as if they were cooked off earlier maybe even the day before the chicken was dried out and cold not shredded pretty much no flavor to it... the guacamole was old it was dark green. This time started off a little rough, but in the end they made it right, which is why I'm writing this review. I placed a to-go order for steak, shrimp, and chicken fajitas. The order was repeated back to me correctly when I called it in. When I arrived to pick it up, the restaurant was extremely busy and the staff was clearly focused on serving the diners inside first, so my order took about an extra 25 minutes. Not ideal, but understandable given how packed the restaurant was. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened the bag, the fajitas only contained steak -- there was no chicken or shrimp included. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager to explain what happened. At first there was some back-and-forth about possible solutions, including bringing the food back or only replacing part of the order. My husband had already started eating because he was hungry, so returning the food wasn't really practical. To the manager's credit, she took the situation seriously and actually called the owner at home to explain what had happened. Shortly afterward she called me back and let me know the owner approved remaking the entire order correctly at no additional cost. That completely changed the experience. For me, good customer service isn't about the money -- it's about making things right when a mistake happens. Once they stepped in and corrected the situation, it showed they value their customers and their reputation. Mistakes happen at every restaurant, especially when things are busy. What matters is how a business responds. Cantina Azteca ultimately did the right thing, and because of that we will absolutely continue to come back. Thank you to the manager and owner for making it right.

Wow, the asada tacos were my favorite, but the shrimp and chicken tacos were also delicious. I came…read moreon Taco Tuesday, so the tacos were a little cheaper, making them an even better value. Each taco had a generous amount of meat, was well-prepared, and tasted fresh. The real game changer, though, was adding the jalapeño cream sauce along with a few salsas from the salsa bar which took the tacos to another level. If I could, I'd give this place 6 stars just for that! Also, I'd recommend the cucumber lime agua fresca drink. It tasted refreshing and the perfect amount of each flavor. Their menu has a great variety of options, and I noticed several people ordering the dinner plates, which looked absolutely massive. I also saw them bring out a sizzling hot skillet that I could hear from a few tables down. You definitely get your money's worth here. The service was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly fast. I had the shredded chicken burrito, and it was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and one of the best I've had. My wife ordered the caldo de res and loved it. The salsa bar was fantastic with plenty of fresh, tasty options, and the homemade chips were warm, fresh, and addictive. The restaurant was spotless, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was incredibly fast. Everyone we encountered greeted us with a smile and made us feel genuinely welcome. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food!
