The chips that came with both are cooked just like regular chip shop chips, which is a major plus from us. The price is comparable with similar restaurants and I felt the portions were good value for the money.

The décor definitely has a seaside feel which comes across as tasteful rather than tacky (the impression I get in the Cardiff branch), and on a sunny day I'd really recommend getting a table on their balcony. There is however one major problem with Salt, and that is the amount of time you have to wait for food. I have eaten at this establishment on numerous occasions, and despite having complained this issue has yet to be addressed! If it wasn't for the fact that I really enjoy the food and atmosphere at Salt, I'm pretty certain I wouldn't come back. What further aggravates is that the staff hardly ever appear to be apologetic, and even when there's only one other table occupied, claim that the kitchen has a long queue. So unfortunately I'd only recommend Salt if you have plenty of time on your hands!

I havn't eaten here, but there is also a well respected restaurant upstairs offering a good selection of seafood dishes. Dishes include: Brixham Crab Cake with baby leaves and lemon butter sauce (£5.25); Plaice Goujons with paprika and a sweet red pepper tartar sauce (£4.95); Roasted Fillet of Hake with a chorizo and roasted red pepper risotto ith tomato, garlic and orange sauce for £13.95 For the vegetarians on the day I visited there was: Tomato Fondue, Wild Mushroom and Aubergine Bake, finished with garlic crumb and poached egg (£4.95) and Rosemary and Truffle Arancini Risotto with a tomato, red onion and spring onion salsa ( £4.95). As far as possible the produce is sourced locally and the meals are simply delicious. The lunchtime menu at £9.95 includes two favourites of mine, the grilled fillet of sea bream and the grilled salmon fillet, which are both (and please trust me on this) excellent! The main menu is a little pricey so this is a place to come for a special meal- a birthday celebration perhaps? Patrick's also has 16 ensuite sea view rooms at £130 per night so if you want a special night away this is the place to stay! A recent addition is the Lounge Bar where aside from just enjoying a drink, reasonably priced savoury snacks are available or if you have a sweet tooth scrumptious desserts are also on offer!

We feel incredible lucky to live so close to such a fantastic place…read more Recently opened after selling veg from a barn, the Cwmcerrig Farm Shop and Grill is Wales' only Farm Shop of its kind. The fruit and vegetables are always beautiful and fresh, the meats are produced there on site and are delicious and nicely priced. The speciality sausages are lovely and there is stacks of other produce too, all local. Things like bread, cheese, eggs, icecream, cakes, preserves and much more. Not only is it a farm shop but also the best carvery in the area. The carvery is also a cafe and they do breakfasts and light lunches as well as hot food on non-carvery days. Get there early though (half eleven) if planning a carvery as the queues are huge!

The place is is located a 15 minute walk from the center of town - unless it is cold, windy or rainy (never happens in Wales right?!) a very pleasant walk to enjoy the views and the fresh hour. However don't feel obliged to park in town and walk if you don't want to as there is ample parking by the pier based on our experience. The restaurant is clean and has both inside and outside seating with prompt and friendly service. A playerless piano plays music for you while you dine. Walk through a door after breakfast and there you are in an extensive amusement arcade - fun! And then there is the pier itself with its views and bracing fresh air. Another option is to climb some steps up to a cliffs above (behind the cafe) from which you can enjoy further views. Fun place to visit!!

There is always a que so they must be doing somthing right. There is no competition nearby as they cannot compete with yallops unless they seriously undercut prices. Look forward to seeing the yallops team again for some for Fish and Chips. P.S The curry sauce is amazing !!!
