Much, much nicer than the Salt in Cardiff Bay! As a student whenever my parents came down to visit me I always tended to drag them down to Salt (had to get that free meal).
Whether or not you're having their Sea Bass or something lighter like their deli filled breads, the food is always in my opinion excellent, and very well presented! The décor definitely has a seaside feel which comes across as tasteful rather than tacky (the impression I get in the Cardiff branch), and on a sunny day I'd really recommend getting a table on their balcony.
There is however one major problem with Salt, and that is the amount of time you have to wait for food. I have eaten at this establishment on numerous occasions, and despite having complained this issue has yet to be addressed! If it wasn't for the fact that I really enjoy the food and atmosphere at Salt, I'm pretty certain I wouldn't come back. What further aggravates is that the staff hardly ever appear to be apologetic, and even when there's only one other table occupied, claim that the kitchen has a long queue.
So unfortunately I'd only recommend Salt if you have plenty of time on your hands! read more
