    Willamette Waterscapes - Unfolded liner

    Willamette Waterscapes

One of the worst and most expensive decisions I've ever made was to hire Willamette Waterscapes…read more(WW) to decommission our pond. Our 19-year-old pond was leaking and we were thinking of either decommission it or converting it to a pond-less water feature and asked Tracy for estimates. He responded quickly and offered three options for us to consider including fixing the leaks, reducing the pond size, and last, decommissioning it (by refilling with soil on premises at my request). We opted to decommission. I way under estimated how much soil we had on premises to refill the pond and in retrospect should have asked Tracy for a bid to bring in additional soil. As it turns out I'll have to have an additional 10 yards of soil brought in to complete the project. Regardless of my poor decision to use on premise soil for the backfill, the expense, value and quality of the work completed by WW was extremely disappointing. About the only positives from our experience was that Tracy responded quickly to our query, was able to schedule right away and was on time if not early. However, for our job, I opine that the negatives far outweigh the positives: * As it turned out, WW was obscenely expensive at nearly $400/man hour (two men about a half day each). * Zero attempt at cleaning up after themselves, eg., did not clean dirt off the patio; did not dispose of their trash; left liner and rock slabs on adjacent beds; did not clean our borrowed shovel; did not wash overspray sludge off of the house. See images. * Did not follow through with minor tasks as promised, i.e., did not fold back liner so it wouldn't be exposed after soil is backfill. I cannot express how very disappointed we are with WW's price to accomplishment ratio and work ethics. Is the pond decommissioned? Yes, but for a job that cost nearly $400/man hour one would naturally expect uncompromising professionalism and outstanding results. To add insult to injury, we're going to have to spend another $1k to actually finish the project. I would advise NOT to use Willamette Waterscapes for your project, you won't appreciate their work ethics nor results. I usually roll my eyes when I hear this, but, trust me on this one.

He looked at what was going on and made suggestions not trying to sell me anything, but to save me money. I trusted him (and sure glad I did) and asked him to fix our fountain. He put in a new pump and discovered we had other issues and fixed it without any additional charges. Break Down Costs My bid was $300 to $400 dollars and it was right in-between at $350. My research of the pump without knowing exactly which one that was put in was $250 to $300. So I am going with $275 for the pump. I hired Green Acres Landscape for a one day job to install two water lines and 12 sprinkler heads…read moreinto an existing sprinkler system. I paid half up front and waited for work to start, 3 weeks later I find they forgot to put me on their schedule. When they showed up, it was not the crew I was told would be there, just one guy with a shovel instead of power equipment. He dug some trenches 12" deep and others 3" deep. He said it was harder digging in the backyard so he only went 3" deep. He broke an existing PVC drainage line and started putting duct tape on it to fix it. I said fix it correctly and he left the job site. I called the office and they said he will be back in the morning to fix it. While I was standing there with him, in front of the broken pipe, he buried it without fixing it. I made him dig it up and fix it. When the sprinkler heads were installed and adjusted, I started the sprinkler system to test it. It watered the side of my house and my neighbors yard. He said the 25 foot ratchet heads were could not water an 8' wide yard without getting water on the house. They came out the next day and replaced the heads and tried again. They had issue after issue and moved and changed the type of head three more times. It was a total clown show. The sprinklers did not go to the property line and I had 18" of dead yard. A Relationship Manager came over and he looked at everything and said he would fix the following day, which he did. The next day everything was fixed and I was happy. The manager handed me a letter from the ladies in the office. I thought it was a gift certificate to a local restaurant for all the trouble I experienced, but it was a letter stating that they were done working on my sprinkler system and any other repairs or issues will cost me $82 an hr. It was a slap in the face and poor customer service. They turned a one day job into a nightmare without one word of regret.

Harley at Design Prodigy is the perfect combination of honesty, integrity, talent, and knowledge…read moreall delivered with tremendous kindness, and respect. He is upfront about budget and costs and keeps you updated every step of the way so there are no unpleasant surprises. What puts Harley's company in a league of its own, is his team. These are not subcontractors with tons of other jobs all happening simultaneously. He hand picked these workers, who are masters in their fields. What this means is, that team showed up early every morning. They worked hard and wasted no time. They are experts at what they do and they take pride in the job they perform. Harley treats your job like he is working on his own house. This comes across very clearly in every decision and choice he makes to select materials, plants, products, etc. He also consulted me before every design decision was made, from the the height of the step leading to the backyard, to the exact color of the cement, to the exact placement of the plants before the digging took place. Another designer may have gone ahead and planted the plants per the architectural design, but Harley has this innate understanding that people change their minds when they see things actually laid out, or after they have time to think about the project as it it progressing. It is this insightful understanding about human nature, that greatly reduces stress during the project as you come to trust and appreciate these rare qualities that you don't find in most people. I am so pleased with the work Design Prodigy did in the backyard.
