They are located in a beautiful building on the banks of the Sacramento River adjacent to Cypress Ave in Redding. The facility is large, clean, modern, and well laid out. On the bottom floor are the physicians, Ophthalmologists, Dr Michael Sumsion and Doctor Sean Sumsion. Not only are both of these guys great physicians, their bedside manner and interaction with patients and family is fantastic. Very down to earth, patient, and happy to explain things. I have seen both of these docs, and I would put them as some of the best. For reference I see physicians at both UCSF and Stanford and this practice is at that caliber of professionalism and competence. Upstairs is the Optometrist, Dr. Jordan Evans. He is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met. He is so kind and patient. I was trying to switch from just eyeglasses to Contact Lenses and my experience with him and his awesome staff was phenomenal. They were not in a hurry to move me through, they took the time to educate me, ensure that everything fit right, on multiple appointments. The bedside manner, caring, and interaction are all outstanding in my humble opinion. I am definitely a fan!

Before my visit, I received an intake packet by email and was instructed to complete it ahead of time so the check-in process would be quicker. I filled everything out immediately, including marking the areas where I was experiencing pain, exactly as requested. When I arrived for my appointment, I was handed another copy of the same paperwork. After reviewing it, I was told that the areas I marked did not match what my doctor had written in the referral. Rather than asking questions or trying to better understand why there was a difference, I was left feeling as though I had done something wrong. As a new patient who had been waiting weeks for relief, I walked away from that conversation feeling like my appointment might not even happen because of something that could have easily been clarified. When I met with the chiropractor, I was informed that because of my insurance, he could only see me twice a month and that two visits per month would not be enough to make much of a difference. Hearing that at my very first appointment was discouraging and left me feeling as though my care was not worth the effort. The adjustment itself was extremely brief. The office had several adjustment tables lined up, and patients were moved through one after another in rapid succession. From my perspective, the experience felt more like an assembly line than individualized patient care. I never felt like my concerns or condition were truly being evaluated. After my adjustment, I was told I needed X-rays because the chiropractor did not want to continue treating me without them. Rather than ordering the X-rays directly or coordinating that process, I had to return to my primary care physician to request them myself. Even my doctor commented that this was unusual. I completed the X-rays as instructed and then waited to hear back from the office about scheduling my next appointment. I never received a phone call or any follow-up. Because of the overall experience and lack of communication, I asked my doctor to refer me to another chiropractic office. I was able to get in the very same day, and the chiropractor personally called me to discuss my condition before my appointment. That interaction immediately felt more professional, more personal, and centered around me as a patient. This review reflects my personal experience. My hope is that Churn Creek Chiropractic improves its communication and patient experience so people seeking help feel listened to, cared for, and treated like individuals--not like numbers.

"Amazing" is how I would describe Dr. Turner and her staff. I can't remember why I initially chose Dr. Turner just over a year ago, but I am so glad I did It might have been through online reviews. She and her staff are friendly, caring and thoughtful and take the full time necessary to help me such as at my first appointment when staff guided me through how to use the ipad I had never used before while not making me feel stupid. And Dr. was so thoughtful regarding my disabilities and took the to make sure I was comfortable when my back was hurting at my recent appointment. As it became clear i would need cataract surgery, she explained in detail what I was to expect and volunteered to help me find a good ophthalmologist in my area if possible since I live 65 miles away. So, yes, "amazing" is the perfect description. read more

Meredith Turner, OD, is a pleasant, professional eye doctor. She has the latest technology and I feel that her eye exams are thorough and accurate. Her staff is also pleasant and there is a large selection of eyeglass frames. They patiently take the time with you to select the right frame and have all of the options that I need and want for my lenses. The office is conveniently located and there is always ample, free parking. In my experience, Karen was very friendly. She worked during her lunch hour to fit my frames when I was willing to come back after lunch, and she cleaned and adjusted a pair of glasses I purchased in NYC. Meredith Turner is my hero! My child scratched my eye late one night that caused me to be in excruciating pain. I knew I needed to get in to the optometrist right away. I called their office first thing in the AM and she went out of her way to squeeze me in for an appointment that morning and extended her business hours later that week to fit me in again for an important follow up. Her staff are sweet and helpful - sometimes the process of picking a new pair of frames can start to feel like choosing a wedding dress. On my first visit to Dr. Turner, I found both her and her staff to be gentle and personable. She listened well as I described my eye issues and was very thorough in her exam. Although there was a slight change in my prescription, she never tried to "push" getting new glasses at her office, and even mentioned that I probably wouldn't even notice a change were I to fill the prescription she gave me. Today was a Monday like no other, as everything that could go wrong, did. Topping it off with breaking my glasses. I called Dr. Turner's office and explained my situation. Dawn called me right back and had a pair of contacts (I am a former contact wearer) for me to hold me over until I can get a new pair of glasses. I was suffering from something that was making my eyes miserable for almost 6 months. I went to 2 other drs which prescribed antibiotic drops or creams but gave no improvement. Dr. Turner spent over an hour with me diagnosing and treating for plugged oil ducts. She manually expressed them in her office and sent me home with an awesome moist heat eye mask and directions on how to heal this condition. Warning: Predatory Billing, Dishonesty…read more They have an initial "fixed" visit price of $89 and a completely random, undetermined, make-up-as-they-please price for contacts examination. Upon my arrival for my appointment, I specifically told the receptionist at the front desk that I need truthful, honest up front pricing as I was on a fixed income and was unable to work at the moment due to personal reasons. I read their policy on cost and went over all the details with the front desk receptionist. I confirmed the initial visit price and asked that she find out exactly what my additional price would be for contacts examination. The receptionist took this information back to speak with the optometrist so that I could decide if I could continue with my exam upon receiving truthful and honest pricing. The receptionist came back and told me it wouldn't be more than an additional $100. I confirmed more times than necessary if that was all that I would expect and that I should not expect a surprise bill. I told her to please confirm with the doctors, and she did, or so she claimed. I completed my examinations and paid roughly $200 out of pocket. To my unfortunate surprise, about a month later I received a new bill from this predatory office asking for an additional amount, upwards of $70. Apparently they decided the additional $120 for a contacts examination wasn't enough that they needed to bill me more. So much for truthful, honest, upfront pricing from this office! I will absolutely share this terrible. predatory, dishonest experience with my spouse, colleagues, neighbors and church. Stay away unless you want deceptive practices!

I don't…read moreknow if it's my western hat or having seventy in my rear view, but I've never had a health care professional as dismissive of my input and later my concerns as Dr. Jitosho who did my prescription at Shasta Eye Medical Group. Twice. To be perfectly clear, I know if what I'm looking at is blurry even if I can barely discern the correct answer. In fact that's how I'm reading roadsigns these days. Perhaps I should be grateful since it adds a bit of adventure to these mountain roads. Operating my computer is a blast too. I can see the screen on my 14" MacBook perfectly. If my nose is over the keyboard and within a foot of the screen. Same with my phone, books etc. There must be a per use rental on Shasta Eye's equipment, or maybe the bum's rush I received after driving a 120 mile round trip to have this prescription corrected by a diopter I held over my left eye is simply how they do business. No adjustment of my reading distance per my request either. Then there's the $450+ spent on two pairs of glasses. One to figure out the first prescription didn't work as well as the glasses it replaced and another pair of glasses that I'll be squinting at road signs and my computer with for a while. I may have lost some of the edge I had in my youth but that does not negate the twenty plus years I spent standing behind a camera, or the time I spent teaching cinematography so I do know what's in focus and I assure you my mental faculties are functioning far better than the staff at Shasta Eye's will as they are reading this review.
