Had a pair of Gucci platform sandals that the strap needed to be tightened, dropped them off, picked them up wore them to a baby shower 2 days later and within 45mins of wearing they came apart. I had to walk around barefoot. Ended up buying shoe glue off Amazon to repair them because they wanted me to pay $25 more to reglue them. That shoe glue works amazingly and 2 yrs later they are still together... the older gentleman was nice to me might I add... read more

IF I COUKD RATE THEM 0 STARS I WOULD! My mother sent one of my dress shoes to get repaired. Payed the 8 bucks & sent me the picture of the ticket to go pick it up. When I went to the shop to pick up the shoe the old man said "no screenshots he needs the ticket" . I said okay I'm fine with that because I get policies; but why the lady behind me, as I'm walking out, is telling to the old man "oh I don't have my ticket but my shoe is right there" & HE LET HER PICK UP HER SHOE. I was really like wtf. read more

The workers at this shoe repair dive are arrogant and repulsive. It amazes me that in this day and age, these people radiate hatred. I went in to have a pair of boots repaired. I was given the third degree with an undesirable attitude. Never will I return. Nor will any of my family members. They suck. read more

disregard all other reviews. this owners craftsmanship is straight trash. i brought a pair of work boots in to get the bottom soles reattached wit cement. First, he gives me a date to pick up and i informed him that i probably won't come that day, i would return next saturday. so i return back and i waited for the place to open up. Never happened. I called the phone number(out of service).....da hell. so i returned on tuesday, and the place was open considering that i am coming from ft.eustis area. i asked him," are u aiight because i came by saturday and u weren't here." he replied," i need a rest day myself sometimes." i replied back," that is understandable, but u could have called me and informed me of this decision since u have my phone number. anyways, i get my boots, inspect them and leave. a couple days later, i noticed my freshly glued soles began separating.....like i said , skills are GARBAGE..........But u r a professional cobbler. yeah right read more

I took a pair of shoes in only one shoe needed to be glued. He refused to repair the one shoe by itself he wanted both Shoes said he would not do just one shoe. I just complied the $7ea. total $14 & gave me a ticket I went in with the ticket to pick up my shoes and he said it didn't match ticket on my shoes. He didn't know where the shoes were. Then I pointed them out then he said well I'm still not gonna give you the shoes because the ticket didn't match. this is the ticket he gave me I told him which clearly said $14. You can see the reviews the man has major issues. He seems to have dementia & something evil in him and he's extremely rude. I would say buyer beware is my advise to you...Take your shoes somewhere else by all means necessary do not take your shoes to this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I had him fix the heel tips.. I lost my ticket, and he was not friendly to me picking them up without the ticket. He called me again- years later to pick up the Salem pair of shoes, this time I sent my boyfriend (brocade he was mean to me). He refused to give him my heela that I paid for years ago. Brocade he didn't have the ticket. I'm a single mom and work long hours. I haven't picked them up because I lost the ticket and the hours of operation. You would think he would at least called me to ask if my boyfriend could take them. Instead he was rude to him and would not let him take my shoes. He says he has rules... and I get that. But if a customer has paid for the shoes.. they should be allowed to send someone to pick them up. He is holding my shoes hostage. It's common since. He has has them since 2019!!!! Who else is going to the show repair to pick up An old pair of heels??? Just a rude old man. Never will I go there or send anyone there!!! read more

I called hoping to get a price quote. The man who answered the phone failed to introduce himself. When I asked for his name, he replied "Why?" I told him that I wanted a price quote on shoe repair, and that I would like to know who I am speaking with. He refused to state his name, and told me to never call again. Realizing I was dealing with an unstable individual, I quickly hung up. This guy, and I shit you not, calls me back, and again tells me to never call his store again. You cannot make this shit up. What a strange interaction. I'll probably go with Hall's in Norfolk, since he was very helpful on the phone. read more

He was very unkind to me because I lost my ticket and did a horrible job at gluing my sneaker and he spoke to me like I was a child . I just hate bad business and that's what this store represents read more

I'm not sure how this place received 1 star because that's far from the experience I received when going to this shoe store! I was greeted immediately by the friendly owner and was treated with kindness and respect. They are professional, efficient and I really approved of the work done on my shoes! read more

Brought in brand new pair of shoes to have stretched. Picked them up and the sole was split. When I brought it to his attention he pointed to the sign and said" drop your shoes off at your own risk". Never again I knew I should have gone to shoe repair by the house. Never would I recommend this business to anyone! The worst part is I had to pay for this smh!!!!!!! If I could give a minus I would ! read more

I have been coming here to get my shoes repaired for over 15 years and I live on the Southside, NOT the Penninsula, so that should tell you something already. The owner is an older gentleman that can come across as a grouch to some, however he is just a no nonsense business owner who is direct and courteous. He isn't going to sugar coat ANYTHING, however he IS going to give you an excellent end result, which he has continually done time and time again for my entire family. read more

Owner does an excellent job and I find the prices to be reasonable. However if your looking for customer service and care where your money goes this is not the place. Payment is required up front as it should be and you a provided a ticket to bring back upon your return. If you lose your ticket there isnt a back up as I discovered today. I lost my ticket (totally on me) but the owner gave me the hardest time about retrieving the shoes that I could not only describe what had been fixed but also the shoe in detail prior to pointing them out (which he required) He asked for ID which I had no problem providing to verify my identity. Then got angry when my DL address did not match VA address. Im military and told him so. I even showed him that ID which still wasn't good enough. I then got my registration to show him that I live at the address reflected on my receipt he has. He continued to argue with me that because I didnt live here it would be a problem because someone could come in with the ticket and claim the shoes. Causing issues for him. While I totally understand that, create a work around. Make customers sign something that states if they lose their ticket proof of identity is required at pickup. After that has been done the owner is no longer liable. Its a shame this store didn't work out, i have several leather shoes I wanted to re sole and I wont be returning. read more

This place was recommended by a trusted friend. I brought in 5 pairs of shoes with various heel problems. The gentleman at the front counter was very courteous and friendly. He was very pleasant as he checked each shoe and explained the prices. He gave me the total and my pick up date. I brought my shoes in on a Wednesday and they were ready for pick up on Tuesday. Excellent work, very reasonably priced. Checking my closets for more shoes! Highly recommend! read more

Good work but the owners can be brash and have hot/cold attitudes. Used racial slurs to refer to Asian shoe repairman.

I was a patron years ago and I had no problem recommending this establishment and supporting a small local business. The quality of repair was good. Now it's a far different story. I brought two pairs of men's shoes needing soles and heels in November 2018. The cost for both were over $100. That in and of itself was not the issue. Both were comfortable and classically styled work shoes and after repair I expected to gain perhaps another 2 - 3 years of wear. Now the quality of repair was visually acceptable on one pair and it appears to wear good. On the other hand, visually the other pair was marginal best, but I could live with it. However after only 3 months of wear, I am looking at significant wear through on one of the soles (I can now see the interior shoe lining!) and the heel on the other shoe is actually starting to peel off. Upon closer inspection, I noted a very thin leather sole applied over the exiting sole with small gaps in the stiching between the new sole and old. Finally the rubber heels appear to be just nailed on with a minimum number of nails without prepping or leveling the base it is nailed on. I also noted the stiching holding the upper leather pieces behind the heel is separating. I want to still keep these shoes, but I will not take a chance and hand them back to this place again. read more
