This vet has worked with us to provide her with excellent pain relief and functioning, even when this meant thinking outside the box to achieve these goals. Our dogs hate having their nails trimmed and when we started at this vet their nails were talons--we were so embarrassed but never felt judged by the team here. They worked with our dogs to manage their anxiety and gradually get their nails shortened. We now get monthly nail trims at this vet (which are only $15) and our dogs are much happier. Overall, the staff is friendly, non-judgmental, and pleasant to work with. I they always tell us the options and costs upfront and let us decide the course of care. As a result, our dogs are healthy, happy, and living their best lives.

His veterinarian stayed later than necessary, tired, and worked out a good feeding plan, even after I offered to just make an appointment for her to look at him. But she advised me to change diet to such and such for a period of time, then we'd re-evaluate. Meanwhile if I feel the need for contacting her during this trial period, she will respond as she always does-- in a most reasonable time. I have been going to Micanopy Animal Hospital for more years than I can remember. Not only the doctors are well beyond the normal care and concern for their animal patients, but they listen with great concern and care to the pet owners. MAH has never been less than above and beyond in the care of the animal patient care and concern for the pet owner. All the staff is well trained and extremely caring about their work. I've never had a bad experience with their care, even in death of a pet. MAH is the best and even if I wanted to move away, I wouldn't because I wouldn't take my beloved pets elsewhere. S. Eakin

I realize this is a long review and I want to be thorough, but I'll try to be as concise as…read morepractically possible! To start, note that my dog Cody and I have had to move around a lot over the past 6 months which has been really hard on the both of us. Thanks to SAH during our months in Gainesville, Cody had possibly the best care that he has had over his entire travels across the country. More importantly, Dr. Nipper was the first vet that we both have seen over the past 6 months that actually thought about how our specific situation was causing us both anxiety, so she carefully considered a plan to both reduce Cody's stress and allow me to maintain his trust so training wasn't so unpredictable and prone to backsliding. Instead of prescribing heavy tranquilizers (a common recommendation that I was repeatedly told at vets before going to SAH.) she gave me some good advice and prescribed doggie Prozac, which -after a month- really helped his anxiety without changing his behavior like Trazadone does. I was able to keep up the general approach of positive reinforcement without worrying that he will become a nervous wreck. Dr. Nipper took the time to consider Cody's specific situation, especially his history of changing houses every couple of months. Other vets never even considered this. Another part was she addressed his allergies, a diagnosis she made after asking questions about whether he scratching all the time, something common for dogs not used to Florida. Other Florida vets didn't even bring this up and now that he's not scratching all the time he's just a happier dog. Finally, I want to also point out that it wasn't just Dr. Nipper that made suburban a great animal Hospital. There's staff is terrific and very careful to make sure that he got what is needed and that there weren't any changes to his health before doing anything. It's just good to know that they are careful, especially when I realize that a lot of offices don't pay that kind of attention. TL;DR: I would recommend both Dr. Nipper and the staff at Suburban Animal Hospital to anyone who wants the best for their animal companions. I have seen lots of examples of less than stellar offices in just a few months prior, and SAH is the best care he's gotten since he was a teensy pup back in San Francisco. And while we sadly are leaving town once again, at least I now know how to make sure he gets good care, especially after seeing what I thought was typical care that I realized I shouldn't have to settle for. It's not like Suburban Animal Hospital is expensive or anything. If anything I've experienced that how much you pay for the same service has nothing to do with that quality of service. And while leaving them behind is a bummer, I am happy that Cody's health benefited so much from both the care he received there as well as me being much better informed than I was before I in that office. And if anyone from SAH is reading this, thanks so much for providing such a positive experience and results for both Cody and I! Bless you all and I hope our paths cross again down the road!

No appointment needed, so we got there at around 7a on Saturday morning. Due to pandemic circumstances, they ask you to park and call the front office so they assess the reason for your visit and can come out to retrieve your pet. The vet techs / receptionist and the vet Dr. Jack Sameck were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and informative. I elected to enroll my dog in the Vaccines for Life program; renewed all his vaccinations; did bloodwork, fecal test, and heartworm test; got him microchipped; and purchased a year's supply of Bravecto (flea and tick medicine) -- all for about $500, which is very reasonable for the number of services included. I felt very welcome here as a new customer and would definitely recommend.

That worked, but then a year ago we moved and I had to find another vet willing to take him. Shores Animal Hospital was the PERFECT solution. At the last vet in Delray Beach, he was totally sedated. As I said, that worked but it was hard on him and hard on me. At Shores though, Dr. Johnson implemented the "Tuft's Protocol" and that was soooo much better. He just becomes so relaxed that the groomer, Ashleigh at Shores Prestige Pet Resort (who is terrific), can get him bathed and clipped. I also use Shores to keep Harley up-to-date on his shots and medical. I cannot say enough things about Dr. Johnson there. She is both kind an thorough and makes it a point to update me after every visit even if he is only there for grooming. I love Shores Animal Hospital, and I am sure you will too!

The last visit was terrible!! I received a phone call asking to set up an appointment for both dogs. I was dealing with a loss and said that I will schedule at a later time. A few weeks went by and I went online to schedule the appointment. After the appointment was scheduled I continued to get calls and text messages asking that the appointments get scheduled. I spoke to someone on the phone and she advised that she seen the appointments scheduled and quoted me $300 for both dogs. I get to the appointment 30 minutes early and quickly got into a room. The male vet tech acted intimidated by one of the dogs and incredibly jumpy. I informed him of the quote of $300 and apparently there were more services listed than the front desk staff could see or that I could see online. The vet tech stated that the dogs would need to come back in 3 weeks for a follow up shot. A non pay week, if this was explained to me I would have scheduled the service another time. I ask, wheat happens if I cannot make it back in 3 weeks? He said that the treatment would need to be started all over again from the beginning. When I inquired about why he did not say anything before, he was nonchalant and shrugged his shoulders saying, that was on me. When the doctor came in she stated that the services would be $367, $67 more than the quote. After the visit the vet tech went to the front "to make sure there were no other dogs up front". I waited five minutes then decided to check out since the tech did not come back. He was talking to one of the receptionists and there were no other clients or animals in the room. The receptionist stated that the amount for the visit was $404, that is way more than the quote on the phone. I advised that was unacceptable and she shrugged her shoulders and said, how would you like to pay? I informed her that I would be writing a review and she told me that was fine. I got me receipt and left. I am not sure that I will be returning.
