I have had the pleasure of taking two trips with Hilda, one to Bali and one to the Dominican…read moreRepublic and both trips were amazing. Hilda plans trips that are exciting and fun whether your a new or an experienced traveler. One of my favorite trips in all of my life has been to the Dominican Republic with her. In this trip, we lived in treehouses (literally), rode horses through the jungle, hiked to an amazing waterfall, rode quads on an empty and gorgeous beach, took a boat ride to a private island, and zip lined through a jungle just to name a few of the activities. She's an excellent travel planner, organizer, and wonderful person to be around. She does a great job at creating a welcoming environment for everyone on the group trip and on both of my experiences, I left each trip with new friendships that I still have today. I can't say enough amazing things about my experiences in these two trips and I'm excited for my next trip with her to Madagascar! I am an experienced traveler who loves to take adventurous vacation where I get to really explore the place I visit and these two trips with Hilda have exceeded my expectations of group trips. I highly recommend her travel services and if I could give her more than five stars, I would. P.S The picture attached are not photoshopped in any way. This is just how gorgeous the locations she took us to where.

I know this airport is getting renovations and a new terminal will be available but as this review…read morestands for the current condition of the airport, I hope the newer terminal building can improve traveler experience. First of all, the facility feels outdated. I couldn't find a place to plug in. The waiting lounge was just a few office chairs. When I had to get on my return flight to LA, I arrived two hours before my flight. The terminal door was locked. While I had to call the airline to unlock the door, I feel this shouldn't be the case. There wasn't any beverages or food places attached to the terminal either. Also, while not the fault of the airport, having your flight delayed here is the worst since there's much to do keep you entertained less your electronic devices are completely charged

AND (ONE OF) THE SMALLEST AIRPORTS IN CALIFORNIA GOES TOO.... DUN DUN DUN MERCED REGIONAL AIRPORT!!…read more Just kidding, I googled it and this one isn't the smallest, but no joke it's pretty small. I was traveling by boutique air from Merced to Los Angeles and checked into this one. My experience was sort of balanced. There wasn't a wait everything was very smooth from check-in, to security (which is basically one small scanner), to get on my flight there weren't any problems. There was even a small table for me to get some work done while I was waiting. However, there aren't any restrooms in the room after you get past security. Additionally, when I used the restrooms they had, there wasn't any paper to wipe my hands after washing, so I had to use the toilet paper. Overall, this airport is really convenient for me and its services aren't too bad and definitely remind me that not all airports are super crazy busy international ones.

It was closed in 1995 as part of BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure). Currently, the general aviation airport is active, along with an aviation museum. My Garman GPS was useful in navigating the old roads on the old base. When I couldn't go any further, a security officer met me and provided escort the rest of the way. Security was very helpful and I got to the right location. Like all former military bases, the areas not in use may appear abandoned and rundown. It's very easy to get to from Hwy 99.
