Our children received the most comprehensive curriculum and were challenged in all aspects of their daily life. The team at Merced Montessori follows the Infant Toddler and Preschool Learning Foundations set forth by the California Department of Education in a unique style. Social Emotional development is the foundation of Merced Montessori's Program. They ensure that each child's needs are met. They develop a thoughtful relationship with each child thus allowing for learning to take place. When a child's basic needs are met, they are ready to learn. This is what Merced Montessori does for children. Our children entered Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten ahead of all their classmates. Our TK student met all Kindergarten benchmarks prior to entering TK as did our Kindergartener. They have both received numerous awards at their school for both academics and character. I have 3 children that have all gone through Merced Montessori School, in fact, the moment I found out I was pregnant, I called to put my name on the waiting list! I NEVER once hesitated leaving my kiddos and NEVER once worried about them during the time I was at work. The lovely ladies who CHOOSE to work at Merced Montessori School are there because they WANT and LOVE to be there! They have seen generations of kids come through and let's all admit, it's not an easy job, so my hat goes off to you all! My girls all were potty-trained here, loved here, cared for here. They were taught songs, art, science, and math concepts. In fact, my kids left READING! My kids looked forward to going to "school" every day AND even went during the summer part-time because they begged to keep going. As others have stated, these ladies become your family and they treat your children as part of theirs. I continue to recommend Merced Montessori to anyone looking for care/school for their children! Lastly, as for the comments regarding having to provide ID to pick up your own child, welcome to the world these days! As a child I attended Merced Montessori School, and my child who is now 9, attended from age 2-kinder. The staff are EXTREMELY experienced, with most on their second generation-4th generation. As a mother I was hesitant to leave my child alone (even though I attended the school myself) but soon found that between the communication from staff and the compassion they showed my child I was put at ease. My daughter was helped to be potty trained, to use respectful and caring language, hand/eye coordination and independence. Curriculum included reading, math, science, geography and learning about different habitats like the ocean and the jungle. If I were to have any more children this would be the place I would bring them and I have recommended Merced Montessori to friends who have their children attend currently. For the one bad review from David J. : if your student did not have a fever there is no need for a parent phone call. That is why the school informed you as soon as you showed up. You should have been thankful that they attempted to wash the poop out of your child's clothes instead of giving it back to you in a nice big dump. Merced Montessori School is simply wonderful. After putting my children through two other day care providers that did not meet my expectations, I was thrilled to find Merced Montessori School. The facility is clean, full of educational activities, and is staffed by some of the greatest teachers my children will ever have the privilege of being taught by. My children have very different personalities and require very different teaching methods. The teachers have more than impressed me with their ability to understand my children as individuals and educate them in a way that works best for them. My children are flourishing under their care and teaching. I can never thank the Merced Montessori staff enough for the lifelong learning foundation they are providing my children. In addition, the teachers have been true partners to my husband and I as we have gone through some challenging toddler stages. I love this school and it's amazing teachers for my kiddos! Coming from the Bay Area originally, I had high expectations for my kids' care and was very worried about what Merced could have to offer - after my tour with the teachers over 4 years ago, I knew we found a Merced gem! The facilities are always clean, organized, and cheerfully decorated with the children's work. When I pick up my kids, they are always in the middle of playing... games, singing, outside running around, etc. The communication between parents and teachers is outstanding, I feel involved and that I have a support network that I can (and have) turn to as my kids age out of the program. Both my kids are high energy, strong-willed, and smart - and this program not only kept up with them but helped them grow into real learners. PS: Montessori was also instrumental in getting both my kids potty trained. There was no Pinterest-weekend for my kiddos - it took a lot of attention and consistency that would have been so hard without these teachers! read more

I cannot stress how amazing this school is!! My child has thrived under their guidance. Within a very short time of attendance my child became an independent and self-sufficient child. Each of the teachers at Merced Montessori are incredible. I had toured a couple of preschools prior to making our decision. As soon as we went to Merced Montessori we knew it was the right choice. I did notice a prior review upset about being asked for ID. This is standard for the safety of the children. The first time my husband picked up our child he was asked for ID even though our child was calling out "dad." Personally, I am grateful they looked out for the well-being of my child over the convenience of my husband who was unknow to them. I recommend Merced Montessori to all parents that I know. My child has never been happier than he is with Merced Montessori as part of his life. I will add that Merced Montessori was also instrumental in potty training my child as well. I have two daughters who started at Merced Montessori School at the age of two. Both of them have excelled academically and socially as a result. My girls entered kindergarten so well prepared that both were moved into the 1st grade for reading. They were reading several levels above grade level and continue to do so. In addition to the academics, both of my children learned how to be respectful of others, how to sit still and focus on tasks, and how to behave appropriately in a group setting. And the teachers at Merced Montessori were not only focused on the children, but on my needs and questions as a parent. When my children were little, I transitioned from being a stay-at-home mom to a working parent. The teachers helped my children and me adjust to the new rhythm of our life. Merced Montessori took my daughter in at 2 years old, and were and remain very flexible. My daughter has been with them for almost 2 years now. Merced Montessori potty trained my daughter. Merced Montessori's staff communicates with me clearly about expectations. My daughter comes home from her day talking about rain, clouds, and letters. She is being instructed. Merced Montessori has two sides, one for the big kids (4) and one for the little kids (2 and 3). As in, two separate and distinct buildings so the bulk of the day is age appropriate. Many colleagues have had their kids, and grand kids attend. I hear how the same teachers have 2 different generations! I see a negative review - Checking ID is smart and protects your kid. Both of my daughters started Merced Montessori School at the age of 2. I cannot stress enough how AMAZING all of the teachers are here and what an AWESOME school this is! Both my daughters were advanced when they went to kindergarten, having already learned most of the curriculum while at Montessori. I ALWAYS received a call if either of my daughters were sick or needed to be picked up. Merced Montessori is like having a second family. I never worried about my kids while they were there. This school is amazing!!!!!! Our daughter has grown so much over the past year, there are not enough words to express our gratitude for this school. She will be entering kindergarten next year and we already know she will be at the top of her class not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. My daughter attended Merced Montessori School for over two years and it was a wonderful experience for her! The staff were all so caring and they engaged the kids in valuable learning activities. She still asks to go back to visit her teachers there. We found the environment and instruction so outstanding that we kept her there for TK instead of moving her to the local elementary school. Once she started kindergarten she was ahead of most other kids academically, verbally, and socially, so she was moved into a K-1 combo class. The teachers at Merced Montessori are extremely experienced when it comes to preschool and childcare. I take my two daughters and they have learned how to become independent, individual thinkers. I am so grateful for Merced Montessori and the entire staff. They have helped mold and shape my daughter Paisley, while letting her still be the wild child that she is. My daughters both attended there and while my oldest was easy and happily stayed, my youngest cried every day. The teachers and staff won her over with their gentle and firm ways of explaining that Mommy had to go to work and would return shortly. Our boys went to Montessori for 3 years with Miss Ann and her amazing team. Our oldest grew his love of numbers working with the choice of 100 board every day.
